Choose audio gear for where you listen: compact speakers suit a desk, wireless earbuds or headphones travel with you, and a soundbar or speaker system can serve a shared living room. These are different jobs, so compare fit, connections, placement and setup rather than expecting one device to work equally well in every setting.
What to prioritize in a desk audio upgrade
At a desk, listening is usually close-range, so start with footprint and the computer connections you actually use. Compact desktop speakers can keep the setup simple; check whether they connect by USB, Bluetooth or an analog input, and whether the arrangement includes a subwoofer or leaves room for one.
Example: Creative Pebble V3 and T60
Creative presents the Pebble V3 as a workspace speaker. Its T60 model lists USB-C audio, Bluetooth, headphone, microphone and AUX connectivity. - Consider whether you want a subwoofer and have space for it.
What to prioritize for commuting
For a commute, portability and a secure, comfortable fit matter as much as the sound features. Decide whether you want active noise cancellation to reduce surrounding sound or a way to stay more aware of it. Also consider microphone use and compatibility with your phone or other listening device.

What to prioritize in a living-room setup
A soundbar can add external audio without requiring a separate speaker at each side of the room. Compare the TV connections, placement options, dialogue needs, bass and setup complexity. Format labels alone do not tell you whether a particular system suits your room.

A single bar is not the only possible living-room arrangement. Bose describes adding a wireless bass module or surround speakers to its soundbar setup. Plan placement before choosing
Think about where the soundbar can sit in relation to the TV, furniture and listening positions.
