The ASUS TUF Gaming VG27AQM5A is on sale for $199 at Amazon, down from $259, according to PCWorld’s October 15, 2026 deal report. That is $70 off and only a few dollars above the monitor’s reported all-time low. The 27-inch display combines 2560×1440 resolution with a 300Hz refresh rate, but it is worthwhile only if your gaming PC can drive very high frame rates at QHD.

At 2560×1440, each frame contains 3,686,400 pixels—78% more than a 1920×1080 frame. Text, interfaces and distant game details therefore look substantially sharper than on a 1080p screen at the same size.
Can your PC actually use 300Hz at 1440p?
The practical buying question is not whether the monitor can reach 300Hz; it is whether your system can feed it frames quickly enough in the games you play. A 300Hz refresh has a 3.33ms frame interval, compared with 5.56ms at 180Hz. That difference can improve motion clarity and input response when frame rates remain close to the monitor’s ceiling.

Good match for high-frame-rate esports
Competitive games such as Counter-Strike 2, Valorant, Rocket League and Overwatch are the realistic use cases for approaching 300 frames per second at QHD, provided you have high-end hardware and settings tuned for performance. In those conditions, the 300Hz mode can show more current frames and reduce perceived blur during fast camera movement.
Less compelling for cinematic games
Modern single-player games at high settings generally will not sustain 300fps at 1440p. G-Sync compatibility and adaptive sync allow the display to operate smoothly below 300Hz, but a player who normally sees 120–180fps will not receive the full benefit of this model over a less expensive 180Hz QHD monitor.

Trade-offs to understand before buying
Stand and mounting
The included stand supports tilt and swivel but does not provide height adjustment. A VESA 100×100 monitor arm is the straightforward fix if you need ergonomic height positioning or a cleaner desk.

Brightness and HDR expectations
PCWorld reports brightness of 300 nits, which is modest for a modern gaming display. Treat this as an SDR-focused monitor rather than a strong HDR choice; highlights will not have the impact of a substantially brighter display.
Speakers, color depth and wake behavior
The integrated 2W speakers are described as tinny, so headphones or dedicated speakers are preferable for games and video. The review also characterizes color depth as unimpressive and notes that wake-from-sleep can be slow. These issues do not affect high-refresh gaming performance, but they matter if the monitor will also serve as your main media or productivity display.

Check your real in-game frame rates first: if they rarely approach 300fps at 1440p, spend less on a 180Hz QHD display and put the savings toward your graphics hardware or a VESA arm.
