The SylvanSport GO is an unusually light pop-up camper for a family: its manufacturer lists an 840-pound (381 kg) dry weight, sleeping space for four or more, and a starting price of $13,995. That combination can make it a practical candidate for some electric cars and hybrids, but the trailer is not automatically compatible with every EV. Your vehicle’s rated towing capacity, tongue-weight limit, loaded trailer mass and range under towing conditions decide whether the setup is safe and useful.
What makes the SylvanSport GO different
Most family campers add substantial mass and frontal area behind the tow vehicle. The GO addresses both concerns with a low pop-up profile when traveling and a listed dry weight of just 840 lb (381 kg). SylvanSport describes it as suitable for small four-cylinder cars, hybrids and electric vehicles, while also warning that towing affects vehicle range.
Dry weight is the trailer before you add camping equipment, food, water, bedding, propane or other cargo. The figure is therefore a starting point, not the weight your EV will actually tow. Ask the seller for the trailer’s allowed gross weight and tongue-weight range, then estimate a realistic loaded figure before ordering.

The GO uses what SylvanSport calls a king-and-a-half sleeping area. The company says it accommodates a family of four plus a dog. That is a useful distinction from many ultralight trailers designed for two people: the GO’s appeal is not simply low mass, but low mass combined with family-size sleeping capacity.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Because pop-up walls are extended at camp, the trailer can provide more usable sleeping room than its closed travel silhouette suggests. Confirm the exact mattress dimensions, interior headroom, included cushions and maximum occupant guidance for the model and region you are buying.

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- Maximum trailer weight: compare the vehicle’s rated limit with the GO’s loaded weight, not its 840-pound dry figure.
- Maximum tongue weight: the downward load on the hitch must remain within the vehicle, hitch and coupler ratings.
- Hitch and wiring requirements: confirm the approved receiver, ball size, electrical connector and any required trailer-brake equipment.
- Payload: passengers and luggage inside the car count against the vehicle’s gross weight limit, even when the trailer itself is light.
Follow local registration, lighting, safety-chain, braking and speed regulations. Requirements differ by jurisdiction and by trailer weight, so a vehicle that can physically pull the GO may still need specific equipment or paperwork.

There is no published controlled test establishing the GO’s exact range reduction. Energy use varies with speed, headwind, hills, temperature, tire pressure, payload and traffic. A low pop-up profile should generally create less aerodynamic drag than a tall box trailer, but it cannot eliminate the penalty of towing.

Plan trips using conservative charging stops. Before a long journey, make a short local test run with the camper loaded as you expect to travel. Record consumption at the speeds you intend to use, then repeat in representative weather if possible. Keep a reserve for detours, busy chargers and unexpected headwinds rather than planning to arrive at a charger near zero state of charge.
Evidence that EV towing is possible
An independent example shows that EV towing can work beyond short demonstrations. The Driven reported in 2026 that a Tesla Model 3 towed a Cub Drifter pop-top camper for more than 5,000 km. The camper weighed 730 kg loaded, including food, bedding and water, and used a 3 kWh onboard battery with a 600 W solar array.

That journey is evidence of practical EV towing, not a range guarantee for the GO or for every Model 3. The Cub Drifter, vehicle configuration, route, weather and driving conditions differ from your proposed setup. Use the report as a proof-of-concept and perform your own consumption and charging calculations.
Lightweight alternatives
The GO is not the only way to reduce trailer mass. Wheelhome’s Dashaway is listed at a starting weight of 395 kg, making it another lightweight option to investigate. At the other end of the technology and size spectrum, Pebble Flow is a larger electric tow-assist trailer that sleeps up to four. Its added systems and size mean you should evaluate it as a different class of product rather than as a direct weight-for-weight substitute.

| Camper | Published weight or capacity | Best comparison question |
|---|---|---|
| SylvanSport GO | 840 lb (381 kg) dry; sleeps four or more | Can your EV handle the loaded mass and tongue weight while preserving usable range? |
| Wheelhome Dashaway | 395 kg starting weight | Does its loaded weight, layout and equipment suit your family better than the GO? |
| Pebble Flow | Electric tow-assist trailer; sleeps up to four | Do you need its larger, more technology-heavy format and can your vehicle tow it? |
A practical buying and towing checklist
- Read the exact owner’s manual for your EV, including towing restrictions for your model year and drivetrain.
- Obtain the camper’s gross vehicle weight rating, typical tongue weight and equipment list from the seller.
- Build a loaded-weight estimate that includes water, food, bedding, bicycles, coolers, batteries and tools.
- Verify the receiver, ball mount, safety chains, wiring and trailer-brake requirements with a qualified installer.
- Check that the combined car-and-trailer weight stays within payload, axle and gross-combination limits.
- Test the loaded rig locally, checking handling, braking, tire temperatures, hitch height and charging consumption.
- Plan routes around reliable chargers with extra energy margin and confirm that your chosen sites can accommodate the trailer.
Is it worth considering for an EV?
The GO is compelling when your priority is a family sleeping arrangement in the lightest possible pop-up format. Its 840-pound dry weight and low travel profile address two common EV-towing concerns, while the four-person capacity avoids the usual trade-off between low mass and usable space.
It is not a universal answer. The final decision depends on your EV’s tow approval, loaded trailer mass, tongue weight, charging network and tolerance for reduced range. Treat the $13,995 figure as a 2026 starting price that requires confirmation, and verify regional inventory and specifications before paying a deposit.
