Hood Warfare 2 is the roughly $6 multiplayer first-person shooter drawing attention after short gameplay clips spread across social media. Developed and published by Trapstar Games, it launched on Steam on October 8, 2026. Steam listed it at $5.99, while a Notebookcheck headline priced it at €6.50 for its European audience.
Why Hood Warfare 2 went viral
The immediate catalyst was a short gameplay clip shared on X by Rainbow Six Siege player Bryan “Merc” Wrzek. Notebookcheck reported that the post had passed 17.5 million views. That exposure translated into a substantial launch audience: the same report, citing SteamDB, said the game reached nearly 15,000 concurrent Steam players during its first week.
Those figures are snapshots rather than permanent player counts. They were reported in October 2026, and concurrent users can rise or fall quickly after a viral post. Steam’s live store page showed 79% positive English reviews from 1,974 reviews when accessed on October 15, 2026; the total may change as new reviews arrive.
What kind of game is it?
Steam describes Hood Warfare 2 as a chaotic multiplayer FPS in which rival gangs fight for control of Chicago. It is built in Unreal Engine 5 and combines updated visuals and weapon animations with maps set in downtown areas, suburbs, The Trenches and Chicago Mall.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The theme is intentionally exaggerated. Trapstar Games’ Steam disclaimer says: “Hood Warfare nor Trapstargames promotes nor condones any form of real life gang violence.” The game presents a fictional, comedic gang-war setting rather than a simulation of real-world crime.
Six modes, each with a different objective

Early reception: fun gunplay, serious complaints
The 79% positive English rating recorded on Steam on October 15 indicates generally favorable early sentiment, but it is not a guarantee of consistent quality or long-term support. Notebookcheck reported that players praised the fast gunplay, gangster humor and nostalgic appeal for fans of older competitive shooters.

The same coverage identified three recurring complaints: reported aimbot cheaters, an unfavorable spawn system and a very short time-to-kill. These issues matter more in a low-cost competitive shooter because unfair deaths or poor spawns can dominate a short match. The available coverage does not establish how widespread cheating is, how effective detection is, or whether a later patch changed the situation, so “full of cheaters” is stronger than the evidence supports.
Can your PC run Hood Warfare 2?
Steam lists the following requirements. They are official hardware targets, not independent performance results; no laboratory testing establishes a particular frame rate or guarantees that a specific laptop will run the game well.

For players who want an inexpensive online FPS with six modes, bots, controller support and a deliberately over-the-top gang theme, the launch price lowers the risk of trying it. The strongest reasons to wait are the reported cheating, spawn and time-to-kill complaints, or a preference for a larger, more established competitive ecosystem.

Steam’s $5.99 listing was visible on October 15, 2026. Prices, taxes and regional conversions can differ, so confirm the amount on your local Steam store before checkout. The viral reach and early review percentage show initial interest, but neither proves that matchmaking will remain populated or that the developers will resolve every launch issue.
Quick Recap
What to expect when you start
- Choose a mode. Start with a team objective such as Turf War or Hit A Lick if you want structure, or use Chaos for an immediate free-for-all.
- Experiment with attachments. Try different sights, magazines, grips and suppressors to find a setup that suits the map and engagement distance.
- Use bot-filled matches to learn. Steam lists matches with bots, which can help you understand objectives and layouts before entering player matches.
- Judge the live experience, not the clip. Viral videos show memorable moments; your decision should account for current matchmaking, spawn behavior, cheating reports and the changing Steam review count.
