If your low-light Android photos look blurry, grainy, dark, or streaked with glare, start with four common causes: movement during a long capture, a skipped or misconfigured night mode, a smudged lens or missed focus, and bright lights or too little ambient light. Camera controls vary by phone, camera app, and region, so check the options on your own device before following a specific menu path.
1. Moving the phone or subject during the capture
Many night modes take several frames and combine them into one still photo. That extra capture time can make movement show up as blur: even a small hand shift can soften the whole scene, while a person who moves may appear ghosted or smeared.
Google Pixel Camera Help says both the camera and subject need to remain still during Night Sight. When photographing a person, ask them to pause around the shutter press. For a static scene, brace your phone against a stable surface and hold it steady until the camera finishes. A tripod can help with stars or other still subjects, but it cannot freeze a moving person.
If the subject is moving, a quick ordinary Photo mode shot may be more useful than a longer night capture. Night mode is designed for still photographs, not for freezing action.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
2. Skipping the night mode your phone supports—or assuming every Android has the same one
For a still indoor or nighttime scene, use the night mode offered by your phone if it has one, and follow the on-screen capture prompt. The mode may be called Night Sight, Night, or something else; availability and behavior vary by device and camera app.
Check how your camera handles night mode
- On Pixel phones, Night Sight may be suggested or turn on automatically in low light in Photo or Portrait mode. Google’s Pixel instructions explain how Night Sight and astrophotography work.
- The separate night mode in Camera from Google is available only on selected compatible devices. Its low-light help page also says HDR being on prevents that mode from working.
- Samsung says Night mode is available only on select Galaxy devices. Its Galaxy guidance notes that screens and settings can vary by country. Samsung Support Canada describes Night mode on supported Galaxy devices as combining 30 images into one photo; that is Samsung’s description, not a count that applies to every Android night mode. Samsung’s Canadian instructions were last updated February 28, 2024.
These modes trade capture time for a brighter, more detailed still image. Android Developers distinguishes a night mode camera extension, intended for high-quality stills, from low-light boost, intended for real-time use; the latter may produce more artifacts or motion blur. This is developer-facing guidance, not a promise that every phone exposes both controls in its camera app. Android’s camera extensions guidance was last updated May 12, 2025.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
3. Ignoring focus or shooting through a smudged lens
In a very dim scene, tap the main subject in the viewfinder to help the camera focus where you want it. If the subject is still soft, check the camera area for fingerprints, dirt, a lens cover, or protective film that may be obstructing it.
Wipe the lens gently with a soft, clean, lint-free cloth. Google Pixel Camera Help notes that dirt or an obstruction can cause blur, halos, lines, or color distortions. Samsung also warns that lens dirt or smudges can make light streaks and flare more noticeable. Google’s photo-quality troubleshooting steps and Samsung’s Galaxy troubleshooting guidance cover these checks.

4. Aiming into bright lights—or expecting detail in complete darkness
A streetlamp, bare bulb, or other bright point light in or near the frame can create glare, halos, reflections, or streaks, especially if the lens is smudged. Clean the lens, then try changing your angle so the light is not shining straight into the camera. Samsung notes that flare can be more noticeable at night with many light sources and at high zoom.
Night mode can make use of available light, but it cannot recover scene detail when there is no light at all. If a photo is simply dark, move toward a safer source of ambient light or reframe around the light that is available rather than expecting the camera to create detail from total darkness. Google Pixel Camera Help advises that direct light can cause glare, halos, and image distortion; its photo-quality guidance explains ways to reduce those effects.

Choose the fix that matches the photo
| What you are photographing | Try this first | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A moving person | Ask them to pause; if they cannot, try a quicker Photo mode capture. | A longer multi-frame night capture can blur movement. |
| A static indoor or evening scene | Use your device’s supported night mode and keep the phone still through the prompt. | The mode can combine frames for a still low-light photo. |
| Stars or a static night scene | Rest the phone on a stable surface or use a tripod. | Stabilization helps when the capture takes longer; it does not stop a subject from moving. |
| A scene with streaks or halos around lights | Clean the lens and shift the angle or framing. | Smudges and direct bright light can make flare more obvious. |
| A scene that is nearly or completely dark | Find some ambient light or adjust the composition. | Night mode needs light to record detail. |
