For The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered, the current Steam minimum is Windows 11, a Core i5-8400 or Ryzen 5 2600, 12 GB of RAM, and a GTX 1660, RX 5500 XT 8 GB, or Arc A580-class graphics card. The recommended tier raises that to a Core i7-8700K or Ryzen 5 3600X, 16 GB of RAM, and an RTX 2060 Super, RX 6600 XT, or Arc B580. Both rows call for 60 GB on an SSD. These are store-listed starting points, not guarantees of a particular frame rate. This guide covers the Remastered edition released September 29, 2026—not the original 2015 PC requirements.

What are The Witcher 3 PC requirements?

Steam’s current listing gives these minimum and recommended requirements for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered. The CPU and graphics-card models separated by slashes are alternatives in each row, not parts that must all be installed together. The listing does not establish identical performance for every model in a tier.

Tier Operating system Processor Memory Graphics card Storage and video memory
Minimum 64-bit Windows 11 Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600 12 GB RAM GeForce GTX 1660, Radeon RX 5500 XT 8 GB, or Intel Arc A580 60 GB SSD; 6 GB VRAM
Recommended 64-bit Windows 11 Intel Core i7-8700K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600X 16 GB RAM GeForce RTX 2060 Super, Radeon RX 6600 XT, or Intel Arc B580 60 GB SSD; 8 GB VRAM

How to choose hardware for your target

Start with the experience you want rather than buying a part based only on the word “recommended.” The Remastered edition adds native DirectX 12 rendering with multithreading, ray-traced local shadows, path tracing, DLSS 4.5 with Ray Reconstruction, FSR 4, and XeSS 2.0. The developer says the system requirements changed with these improvements. CD PROJEKT RED’s feature announcement describes the additions; it does not provide a benchmark guarantee for a given PC.

Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition - PC
  • Play as a highly trained monster slayer for hire.
  • Built for endless adventure, the massive open world of The Witcher sets new standards in terms of size, depth and complexity.
  • The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Game of the Year edition brings together the base game and all the additional content released to date.
  • Resolution and frame rate: Higher resolution and higher frame-rate targets call for more capable hardware than simply meeting the minimum row. Check requirements for the specific target instead of assuming the store’s recommended tier covers every goal.
  • Rendering mode: Rasterized rendering, ray tracing, and path tracing are distinct targets. Ray tracing and especially path tracing should not be treated as settings that the minimum specification promises to handle smoothly.
  • Upscaling and frame generation: Some higher targets assume these features. A target that depends on DLSS, FSR, or frame generation is not directly equivalent to the same resolution and frame rate rendered without them.
  • Whole-system fit: Check the operating system, CPU, GPU and its VRAM, system RAM, and SSD capacity together. An SSD addresses the storage requirement; it does not make an under-tier CPU or GPU meet the graphics target.

Higher-resolution and ray-tracing targets

A secondary transcription of the expanded requirements table reports six targets beyond the two readable Steam rows. The values below should be treated as targets attributed to that transcription, not independently tested results or promises for every scene. The developer’s announcement presents its requirements table as an image, so its contents are not independently readable in the searchable text.

Target described in the transcription Reported hardware target or assumption
Minimum, 1080p Low Listed as a target; hardware details are not stated here beyond the Steam minimum row.
High, 1080p/60 Listed as a separate target; the cited transcription’s specific component pair is not reproduced here.
Ultra, 1440p/60 Listed as a separate target; the cited transcription’s specific component pair is not reproduced here.
Ray tracing, 1080p/30 Target assumes upscaling.
Ray-tracing Ultra, 1440p/60 Target assumes DLSS or FSR.
Path Tracing, 4K/60 Target assumes upscaling and frame generation; the transcription names an RTX 5080 and Core i9-13900K or Ryzen 7 9800X3D.

For the detailed components attached to the intermediate targets, consult that transcription rather than inferring them from the minimum or recommended Steam rows.

What to check before upgrading

  1. Identify your installed parts. Check your Windows edition, processor model, graphics-card model and VRAM, system memory, and available SSD space. Compare each with the relevant row or target.
  2. Choose a specific graphics goal. Decide on resolution, frame rate, and whether you intend to use rasterized rendering, ray tracing, or path tracing. Record whether your target depends on upscaling or frame generation.
  3. Find the limiting part. If you fall short on multiple requirements, buying only a GPU may leave the CPU, memory, operating system, or storage below the applicable specification. Compare the complete configuration before ordering a component.
  4. Use the correct edition’s listing. Check the current Remastered listing, not an old requirements page or a cached copy. Requirements and retail availability can change; no current prices or best-value rankings are established here.

Why the original 2015 requirements do not apply

The developer’s January 2015 requirements page listed a minimum Core i5-2500K or Phenom II X4 940, GTX 660 or Radeon HD 7870, 6 GB RAM, 64-bit Windows 7 or Windows 8 (8.1), DirectX 11, and 40 GB of storage. Its recommended row listed an i7-3770 or FX-8350, GTX 770 or Radeon R9 290, 8 GB RAM, and 40 GB of storage. Those figures describe the earlier game, not the current Remastered buying baseline. The older Steam listing also noted that requirements would change on September 29, 2026; its current Remastered rows supersede the historical figures for this edition.
