How to survive combat and conserve ammunition
Make every shot deliberate
Frogwares describes ammunition as scarce and monsters as tough. Avoid treating gunfire as the default answer to every threat. Calvin can dodge, punch, and stomp, so combine those actions with positioning and use ammunition when the situation warrants it. The available official guidance does not establish a universally best weapon or damage strategy; the right choice depends on the encounter.
Watch what each enemy does
Enemy behavior changes how you should approach a fight. Slither Worms and Abominations are parasite colonies controlling corpses. Stygian Harvesters are fast ambushers that dodge and retreat, so chasing one blindly can draw you into danger. Acheronian Juggernauts are slow but powerful; their bulk makes enclosed spaces hazardous. Create room when you can, and avoid committing to a chase or a cramped fight without considering the surroundings.
Use the environment before spending resources
Locations connect through blocked doors and shortcuts, and exploration can uncover supplies and upgrade containers. Check side paths and accessible rooms before pushing into a dangerous encounter. A route that gives you more space or a way around a blockage can matter as much as another shot.
Which optional investigations and secrets are worth pursuing?
Optional cases do not block main-story progress, but they can provide tangible survival benefits. Game Director Alexander Gresko described investigation in the sequel as something that “runs alongside exploration, instead of gating it” in his Xbox Wire article dated August 18, 2026.
