To solve the church Trident puzzle in The Sinking City 2, place the Trident on the graveyard obelisk and set its symbols from top to bottom to Yig: serpent form; Tsog-Nar: crooked cross; Gyrh: spearhead; Cthylla: splayed womb. Step away while lightning charges the Trident. After all three charge indicators light, take it back to the church, then use the dagger from the statue in front of the altar to open the lower passage.
How do I solve the church Trident puzzle in The Sinking City 2?
- Get the Star Key. It is on a corpse beside the church blockage switch. Use the key at the Star-locked upstairs door in the church.
- Take the Trident. Pick it up in the Star-locked room. The clue note “Call Upon Believers” is at the church altar; “First Vision” is in the Star-locked graveyard crypt. Reading them can help connect the gods with the symbols.
- Carry the Trident to the graveyard obelisk. Place it there to start the puzzle.
- Set the obelisk sections from top to bottom:
- Yig — serpent form
- Tsog-Nar — crooked cross
- Gyrh — spearhead
- Cthylla — splayed womb
- Move away from the obelisk during the lightning sequence. Wait until three charge indicators have lit, then retrieve the Trident. Enemies may appear nearby during the sequence.
- Return to the church. Put the charged Trident back where you found it. Take the dagger from the statue directly in front of the altar and insert it into the altar slot to open the descent to a basement encounter.
Which way should I read the obelisk symbols?
Enter the settings top to bottom in the order listed above. The clue’s “from the depth to the heights” wording refers to reading the sequence upward from the bottom; it does not change the top-to-bottom entry order. For the fourth emblem, match the etched picture in your game to the named clue: guides sometimes describe the shapes differently, but the detailed walkthrough calls it “Splayed Womb.” The top emblem may also be described as an arrowhead or spearhead; use the pictured symbol and its clue association.
What happens after the Trident is charged?
The obelisk step is not the end of the church sequence. Bring the charged Trident back to its original place in the church. Then take the dagger from the statue immediately in front of the altar and put it in the altar slot; this opens the route downward.
