Yes—The Sims 4 can run on Windows 10 if your PC uses 64-bit Windows and meets the game’s hardware requirements. EA’s minimums are 4 GB of RAM, a supported processor and graphics adapter, DirectX 11 compatibility, and at least 25 GB of free storage. The EA app used to install the game also requires a 64-bit PC running Windows 10 or 11.
Windows 10 compatibility: the short answer
EA lists 64-bit Windows 10 as the minimum operating system for The Sims 4 on PC. The Windows 10 label alone is not enough: a 32-bit installation does not meet the EA app’s current Windows requirement. Your processor, memory, graphics hardware, storage, and ability to activate the game online matter too.

Meeting the minimum requirements establishes a baseline for compatibility, not a guaranteed frame rate or a promise that the game will feel smooth on every PC. EA’s recommended specifications are a more capable target.
The Sims 4 PC system requirements
EA publishes the following minimum and recommended specifications for PC. The graphics-card names are examples from EA; compatibility can also depend on the exact adapter and its driver.

These figures come from EA’s The Sims 4 PC system requirements and EA Help system requirements. EA Help describes internet as required for activation and optional for game updates; do not treat that as meaning the game can be initially activated offline.
How to check whether your Windows 10 PC qualifies
- Check Windows, processor, and RAM. Search for This PC in Windows, right-click it, and select Properties. Review the Windows edition and system type, processor model, and installed RAM. Confirm that Windows is 64-bit.
- Identify the graphics adapter. Open Device Manager and expand Display adapters. Note the adapter name, then compare it with EA’s graphics requirements. The listed card examples are not a guarantee for every system using similarly named or older hardware; driver support and DirectX 11 compatibility also matter.
- Check available storage. Make sure the drive has enough free space for the relevant tier, including the additional 1 GB EA specifies for custom content and saved games.
- Compare each item with EA’s table. The PC should meet the minimum for each requirement; a shortfall in one area is not offset by exceeding another. If it meets the recommended tier, it has more headroom than a minimum-spec PC, though that still does not determine a specific frame rate.
EA’s system requirements help page gives the same basic Windows checks. If an adapter or processor is difficult to identify, use its exact model name rather than relying on the computer’s marketing name.

Why 64-bit Windows matters
EA says a PC running 64-bit Windows with at least 4 GB of RAM can use the 64-bit version of The Sims 4, and notes that the 64-bit version can help the game run better. Separately, the EA app requires a 64-bit Windows PC running Windows 10 or 11. As a result, a 32-bit Windows 10 computer fails the app requirement even though its operating system is Windows 10.

Installing the game on a compatible PC
EA lists The Sims 4 for PC and provides an official download route on its The Sims 4 page. The EA app is the Windows installation route, and activation requires an internet connection. Confirm the PC’s system type and hardware before installing; there is no reason to assume an upgrade is necessary until you compare the actual specifications with EA’s minimums.
