The Odyssey has opened in theaters, and preorder links have surfaced for standard, steelbook and premium collector’s steelbook versions of its home release. But the widely repeated $300 figure—and what that package includes—has not been confirmed by an authoritative US product listing. Check the live listing before treating either as settled.
What’s actually confirmed about the preorder?
Preorder links for The Odyssey 4K UHD Blu-ray appeared for three product labels: Standard, Regular Steelbook and Premium Collector’s Edition Steelbook. A Reddit post dated October 13, 2026, linked to those Amazon pages but said artwork and details were not yet available. That establishes that the pages were being circulated, not their final contents, price, release date, delivery terms or current stock. The community post is not a substitute for an authorized, fully specified product listing.
In particular, the $300 price mentioned in preorder discussion is not verified by the sources available here. Nor is there confirmed information on what the US premium package contains. Don’t assume the amount or the package details are final unless the live retailer page states them.
What’s in the collector’s edition?
A German-market listing from PLAION Pictures Shop provides a concrete example, but it is a different edition in a different market. The retailer lists a three-disc steelbook package containing 4K UHD plus two Blu-rays, a 60-page production booklet, four art cards and a double-sided mini-poster. When accessed, it showed a price of €69.99 and expected delivery on the German release date, November 18, 2026. Check PLAION Pictures Shop for that listing’s current terms; price and availability can change.

Those German specifications do not establish the US collector’s edition’s contents or price. The US package could differ, so compare editions by what the specific listing confirms rather than by the word “collector’s.”
How to compare editions before ordering
- Confirm the market and retailer. Make sure the listing is for your region and that the seller is authorized. A German listing in euros is not a US offer.
- Check the format and discs. Look for whether the package includes 4K UHD, standard Blu-ray, a digital code or some combination, and count the discs.
- Read the packaging and extras list. Verify whether it is a steelbook or standard case and whether books, art cards, posters or other collectibles are explicitly included.
- Verify the live price, date and delivery terms. Preorder prices, release dates, stock and delivery estimates can change. Use the current product page, not an older post or a search-result label.
- Decide what you value. If you want the film in 4K, the confirmed format matters more than a premium label. If physical extras are the draw, weigh their listed contents against the price you are willing to pay.
Why the IMAX production matters—and what it doesn’t tell you
Universal Pictures Canada describes The Odyssey as a mythic action epic written and directed by Christopher Nolan, and lists its theatrical opening as July 17, 2026. The cast includes Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya and Charlize Theron; Emma Thomas and Nolan are credited as producers. IMAX Corporation said the film was the first theatrical release shot entirely with IMAX 70mm film cameras. In its July 20, 2026 announcement, IMAX reported $52 million in worldwide IMAX opening-weekend revenue, representing 20% of the film’s global debut. It also reported $6.3 million in weekend box office from 41 IMAX 70mm locations, an average of $153,000 per IMAX 70mm screen, and 2.1 million feet of IMAX film shot.
