The Mutual Bank’s Contents Standard is a sum-insured contents policy that lists cover for events including fire, theft, flood and storm, with owner fixtures in a strata scheme shown as an additional benefit. It may suit a strata owner who wants contents cover, but whether it fits depends on the possessions insured, the policy’s detailed terms and the owner’s existing strata insurance. Accidental damage at home and electrical motor burnout are optional on Standard; both are automatically included on Contents Plus, according to the bank’s comparison page.
What the policy is—and what the public summary establishes
CHOICE classifies The Mutual Bank Home Contents Standard as sum-insured contents insurance: the policyholder selects a contents sum insured. The appropriate amount depends on the value of the possessions being insured and the policy terms. A sum insured is not, by itself, a guarantee that every item or loss will be paid in full.
The Mutual Bank’s contents insurance page lists fire, theft, flood or rainwater run-off, storm, escape of water, impact and other events across its contents options. This is a high-level feature summary, not the complete list of covered circumstances or conditions. The current Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) and the policyholder’s certificate are the documents to check for the operative terms.

The clearest distinction in the bank’s comparison is the treatment of two options:
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
| Feature | Contents Standard | Contents Plus |
|---|---|---|
| Accidental damage at home | Optional benefit | Automatically included |
| Electrical motor burnout | Optional benefit | Automatically included |
These descriptions come from the bank’s comparison page; check the PDS for definitions, exclusions, limits and claim conditions. The bank also says motor cover may extend to motors up to 15 years after manufacture when they are not under warranty or used in a business. Treat that as a summary, not a promise that a particular motor or loss qualifies.
What strata owners should check about fixtures
The bank’s comparison identifies owner fixtures in a strata scheme as an additional benefit under Contents Standard. It does not specify in that comparison which fixtures qualify or the exact benefit limit. Before relying on this feature, read the PDS wording and check how it applies alongside the owners corporation’s building insurance. Do not assume that a fixture is covered simply because it is in your lot, or that it cannot be covered elsewhere.

Valuable and portable contents, excesses and temporary accommodation
The bank presents valuable contents and portable contents as selectable options and gives examples and caveats on its page. The full conditions, item limits and any sublimits need to be checked in the PDS. Pay particular attention to whether an item is covered away from home, how it must be specified, and which excess applies. The bank’s page also mentions temporary accommodation among its contents features; confirm the eligibility conditions, duration and limit in the policy wording rather than assuming every insured event triggers it.
The feature page flags limits or exclusions relating to sea actions, use of portable items and excesses. Those short descriptions are not enough to determine whether a specific loss is covered. For a decision about an item, event or claim, use the applicable PDS and certificate.

How to decide whether Standard is suitable
Compare the cover on the terms that affect your situation, rather than choosing by the product name alone:
- Contents sum insured: estimate the replacement value of the possessions you want covered and check how the policy treats high-value items.
- Excess: identify the applicable excess for the events and options relevant to you.
- Optional benefits: decide whether accidental damage at home or motor burnout matters; compare the cost and terms of adding them to Standard with the Plus option.
- Strata fixtures: verify the qualifying fixtures and benefit limit, and compare the wording with the owners corporation’s insurance.
- Valuable and portable items: check item definitions, away-from-home conditions and applicable sublimits.
- Temporary accommodation: confirm what event triggers it and any conditions or limits.
The sources reviewed do not establish a current premium or a like-for-like price comparison. To compare insurers, use the same address, contents value, excess and selected options, and read the relevant policy wording as well as the price. CHOICE offers independent product-review and comparison context, but it is not the contractual policy wording; see its home and contents insurance information.
