Amazon’s Kindle Click is a $34.99 Bluetooth page-turn remote introduced with the 2026 Kindle range. It lets you advance or reverse pages, and adjust brightness, without touching a Kindle that is propped under blankets, on a treadmill or on an airplane tray. That is useful in a few carefully defined situations—but puzzling when a Kindle is being held normally, which explains the accessory’s odd reputation.
Why would a Kindle need a remote?
Most Kindle reading involves holding the device close enough to tap its screen. Kindle Click addresses a different posture: the reader has positioned the Kindle at a distance and wants to avoid moving. Amazon specifically describes reading under the covers, exercising on a treadmill and reading from a tray table during a flight. In those settings, reaching for the screen can disturb blankets, interrupt a workout or upset a carefully balanced device.
TechRadar describes Click as a small handheld controller with forward and back buttons plus side brightness controls. It is therefore a hands-free convenience accessory, not a replacement for the Kindle’s normal touch interface. If you already hold your Kindle in one hand, the remote adds another object without removing a meaningful inconvenience.

Kindle Click launched in October 2026 alongside a redesigned Kindle family. Amazon lists it at $34.99. The company describes it as a compact Bluetooth remote for page turning. The price is a listed US price; inventory, taxes, regional pricing and software support can differ, so check the product page for your market before buying.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Amazon says Click works with all new Kindle devices and Kindle models released from 2024 onward. That is a product-family claim, not a guarantee that every regional edition or firmware version will expose identical controls. Confirm the exact model name and current compatibility information in your local listing.
Does Kindle Click work with a Paperwhite?
It should work with a Paperwhite released in 2024 or later, subject to the model and local software support. Amazon’s published range is based on release year, so an older Paperwhite is outside the stated Click compatibility range. The phrase “Paperwhite” alone is not enough to establish compatibility: identify the generation and edition first.

Kindle Click versus the Page-Turn Cover
Amazon introduced a second page-control accessory at the same time: the $79.99 Page-Turn Cover. It is not a Bluetooth remote. Physical page-turn buttons are built into a magnetic cover and communicate through pogo pins. Amazon limits it to the Paperwhite Signature Edition and Colorsoft Signature Edition.
| Feature | Kindle Click | Page-Turn Cover |
|---|---|---|
| Connection | Bluetooth | Pogo pins through the cover |
| Physical setup | Separate handheld remote | Buttons attached to a magnetic cover |
| Controls described | Forward, back and side brightness controls | Physical page-turn buttons |
| Published compatibility | New Kindles and models released from 2024 onward; verify the exact model locally | Paperwhite Signature Edition and Colorsoft Signature Edition |
| Listed US price | $34.99 | $79.99 |
Click is the broader and cheaper option when a compatible Kindle is positioned away from you. The cover is more integrated, but its narrow model list and higher price make it relevant mainly to owners of the two specified Signature Editions.

Is it really Bluetooth?
Yes. Kindle Click is presented as a native Bluetooth accessory. That is different from many inexpensive “Kindle page turners” that use radio-frequency (RF) communication with a sensor clipped over the screen.
An Amazon-hosted manual for one such RF design explicitly says it has no Bluetooth function and does not connect to the Kindle through Bluetooth. The clip detects a page-turn action at the screen while a separate RF handset sends the command. These systems can add bulk, require accurate clip placement and exclude some Kindle models. Their prices and compatibility vary by seller, so each product must be checked individually.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
Amazon’s Bluetooth help documentation also explains the historical confusion: supported Kindles use Bluetooth for approved audio devices with VoiceView or audiobooks, while Bluetooth phones, keyboards and mice are not supported. Only Kindle devices released during or after 2016 support the documented Bluetooth audio capability. That does not turn an older Kindle into a general-purpose Bluetooth host for page-turn remotes.

Which option fits each reader?
- You own a Kindle from 2024 onward: Kindle Click is the cleanest native option if the local listing confirms your exact model.
- You own a Paperwhite Signature Edition or Colorsoft Signature Edition and want controls attached to the device: consider the Page-Turn Cover, accepting its $79.99 price and model restriction.
- You own an older Kindle: inexpensive RF clip systems may be the only practical physical page-turn solution, but they are not Bluetooth and may be bulky or incompatible.
- You read on a 2024 Colorsoft Signature Edition or 2024 Paperwhite Signature Edition (12th Generation): try the built-in double-tap page-turn feature before buying anything. It uses the accelerometer, although Amazon warns that some third-party cases can prevent it from working.
Why older third-party remotes caused frustration
A July 2024 Amazon forum question asked whether Amazon would sell an official Bluetooth page-turn remote. The customer described clip-on products as unreliable, bulky and potentially harmful over time. That post demonstrates reader demand and dissatisfaction, not a controlled durability or reliability test. The underlying problem was the mismatch between products marketed as Kindle remotes and the Kindle’s limited Bluetooth support: many were RF screen clips, while buyers expected ordinary Bluetooth pairing.

What to check before purchasing
- Open the Kindle’s device information and record the exact generation and edition, rather than relying on “Paperwhite” or “Kindle” as a model name.
- Compare that model with the compatibility statement on your regional Kindle Click listing. Amazon’s 2024-and-newer wording should not be extended to earlier devices.
- Decide whether you need a separate handheld controller or buttons physically attached to the reader.
- If considering a clip-on product for an older Kindle, verify that it is RF, inspect the required clip position and check the seller’s model exclusions.
- For a supported Signature Edition, test double-tap page turning and remove or change a case if the accelerometer feature does not respond.
Why the accessory remains baffling
Amazon says Kindle saw double-digit global growth for three consecutive years and that customers read more than 720 billion pages in 2025. Those company-reported figures show a large Kindle audience, but they do not show that most readers need a remote. Click makes sense for a narrow hands-free niche; outside that niche, it is an extra controller for a device designed to be tapped. The confusing part is not how it works—it is how few reading situations require it.
