The Jackbox Party Pack 12 launches today, October 15, 2026. The $29.99 collection includes five new party games for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch (including the announced Switch 2 target), Apple TV, iPad and Mac. One person buys and runs the pack; everyone else joins with a phone.

What is in The Jackbox Party Pack 12?

Jackbox Games describes the release as five all-new games, each designed for 2–8 players. Rather than one long campaign, the pack is a menu of short group activities covering creative writing, image editing, debate, categorization and word association. That variety is the point: a host can switch formats when a game loses momentum or when the group wants a different kind of competition.

Game What players do Best fit for
We Forgot a Card Create ridiculous greeting cards for strange occasions. The Xbox listing says cards can also be purchased in real life. Groups that enjoy writing jokes, visual gags and shareable creations
Hyperface Manipulate selfies and stock photos by smudging, pulling, squashing and drawing over them to answer bizarre prompts. Players who prefer visual humor and improvisation
Debate and Switch Argue light-hearted topics in a debate tournament or town-hall-style competition. Competitive groups that like fast verbal rounds
Idol Factions Two teams race to sort answers into categories in a rapid fact battle. Teams that want a quicker, knowledge-focused game
MegaPals Use impulsive wordplay and matchups to find the answers that players think alike on, with an explosive presentation. Friends who enjoy social guessing and shared instincts

How many people can play?

The stated player range is 2–8 people. The host launches the game on a compatible device and displays it on a television, monitor or other shared screen. Every participant uses a phone as a controller, so guests do not need a console gamepad or a separate copy of the pack.

What the host needs

  • A purchase of The Jackbox Party Pack 12 on a supported storefront
  • A compatible device connected to a shared display
  • An internet connection for the host device and players’ phones
  • A browser-capable phone for each participant

This single-owner model is the practical reason the pack works for parties: the cost is paid once, while the rest of the group joins locally with devices they already carry. The host still needs to check that the chosen platform can connect to the intended screen and network.

An earlier announcement also names Nintendo Switch 2. Storefront timing and pricing can vary by country, so the local store page is the final authority for availability and the amount charged.

PC Steam and Epic Games Store Operating-system requirements, display connection and local storefront price
PlayStation PlayStation 5 That the console is a PS5 and can reach the intended screen and network

What makes the five games different?

We Forgot a Card

You invent greeting cards for odd occasions instead of selecting a prewritten message. Its unusual extra is the option, described in the Xbox listing, to purchase cards in real life. That turns a digital joke into a possible physical keepsake, but availability, fulfillment and territories depend on the feature and region.

Hyperface

Hyperface treats images as raw material. Players distort faces and stock photography with gestures and drawings, then adapt the result to a prompt. It is less about artistic skill than making a recognizable joke quickly enough for the group.

Debate and Switch

This game frames harmless subjects as a structured contest. The debate-tournament and town-hall formats give groups different levels of organization, while the “switch” premise keeps players from settling into one predictable side.

Idol Factions

Two teams sort answers into categories under time pressure. The format rewards quick agreement and broad recall, making it a natural choice when the group wants competition without a long rules explanation.

MegaPals

MegaPals asks players to anticipate one another through wordplay and matchups. Success comes from shared references and social reading rather than obscure knowledge, with the Xbox description emphasizing its explosive presentation.

How to choose the right version

  1. Pick the device that already connects to your group screen. A living-room console, computer or Apple device is usually easier than buying new hardware.
  2. Open the local storefront listing. Confirm that the game is available in your country, review the regional price and verify the platform model.
  3. Plan the network. The host device and players’ phones must be online; a weak or congested connection can make joining difficult.
  4. Choose a first game for the audience. Start with We Forgot a Card or Hyperface for creative groups, Debate and Switch for outspoken players, Idol Factions for rapid team play, or MegaPals for shared-word instincts.
  5. Keep the host device visible. Phones provide input, but the shared display carries prompts, timers and results.

Is The Jackbox Party Pack 12 worth a game-night purchase?

For a group that already has a compatible screen and internet-connected phones, the one-owner setup removes the largest barrier to entry. The pack’s value depends less on hardware than on whether your group enjoys its five distinct styles: card creation, image manipulation, debate, category racing and social word matching. No independent review score, sales figure or average player-count measurement has been established for this release, so the reliable purchasing facts are its five-game lineup, 2–8-player range, supported platforms and the announced $29.99 price.
