The Switch 2 edition’s defining advantage is flexibility: it can be played on a television, in tabletop mode, or handheld. Ubisoft specifies 1080p at 30 FPS in both TV and handheld modes. The trade-offs are a required persistent internet connection and Ubisoft Account, plus the fact that purchases from other platform stores do not transfer to Switch 2. Progress can carry between supported platforms through linked cross-progression and cross-save. PS5 and Xbox Series X|S remain console-only versions, but the official material available here does not provide enough equivalent performance data to name either one the technical winner.
Quick verdict
Choose Switch 2 if playing away from the television matters more than pursuing an unverified performance advantage. It is the only version in this comparison documented with TV, tabletop, and handheld modes, and Ubisoft gives it a specific 1080p/30 FPS target in both TV and handheld play. The game remains an online-connected experience rather than an offline handheld title.
Choose PS5 or Xbox Series X|S if you want a conventional living-room console and already own one of those systems, but do not assume this evidence proves a higher frame rate, sharper image, faster loading, or better visual quality. Ubisoft and Nintendo’s published information reviewed for this comparison does not establish a three-way technical test.

For players moving between systems, the important distinction is between progression and purchases. A linked Ubisoft Account can carry supported progress and saves, while paid items bought through Xbox, PlayStation, Ubisoft Connect, Epic Games Store, or Steam do not transfer to Switch 2.

What the Switch 2 version adds
Three ways to play
Nintendo lists TV, tabletop, and handheld modes for the Switch 2 release. That changes how the game fits into a household: one session can use a television, another can use the console’s built-in screen, and tabletop mode can place the display on a surface while using detached or compatible controls.
PS5 and Xbox Series X|S are living-room console editions in this comparison. Their versions do not provide the Switch 2’s documented handheld or tabletop option. That is a practical difference even when the same game world, events, and seasonal updates are available.
Ubisoft’s published performance target
Ubisoft’s official Switch 2 FAQ states: “The Crew Motorfest runs at 1080p and 30 FPS, both in TV Mode and Handheld Mode.” This is a manufacturer specification, not an independently measured benchmark. It should be read as the stated target for the Switch 2 edition, not as proof of how consistently every scene holds that rate.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThe wording also answers a common buying question: the published Switch 2 specification is 30 FPS, not a documented 60 FPS mode. The available official material does not provide matching resolution and frame-rate figures for PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, so a direct performance ranking would go beyond the evidence.
Online and account requirements
Ubisoft says a persistent internet connection and a Ubisoft Account are required on Switch 2. Plan for the console to remain connected while playing rather than treating the handheld mode as an offline version of the game.
Nintendo’s listing describes online play for 1–32 players and points to Nintendo Switch Online for online play. Subscription rules can depend on region and account circumstances, so check the Nintendo store page for your country before purchasing. The Ubisoft Account requirement is separate from any Nintendo subscription: one identifies your Ubisoft game profile, while the other concerns Nintendo’s online service.
Storage and scale
Nintendo listed a 58.5 GB game file size when its store page was accessed on October 13, 2026. That figure can change as updates are released, so leave additional free storage rather than treating 58.5 GB as a permanent ceiling.

What remains shared across the platforms
Seasonal content is cross-platform
Ubisoft’s Season 11 announcement, published in October 2026, lists the update across platforms including Switch 2 and names PS5 and Xbox Series X|S among the supported systems. The Switch 2 release therefore joins the current live content rather than launching as an isolated or delayed version.
Season 11 began on October 7, 2026. The Switch 2 version’s release date was October 8, 2026, according to Nintendo’s listing and Ubisoft’s launch article. A player buying the new edition should still check the in-game or store presentation for the exact version and entitlement attached to the copy being purchased.
New Season 11 activities
Ubisoft describes a new island and several features in Season 11. The free Kauai Expeditions playlist contains eight main events, asks players to photograph 40 animals, and adds Road Discovery. These are useful examples of the type of current content available across the named platforms.

The season also includes a premium Tomb Raider: Secrets of Ni’ihau downloadable-content pack developed in partnership with Crystal Dynamics. “Available across platforms” does not mean every paid entitlement follows a player to every platform, however. Store ownership rules still apply, particularly when moving to Switch 2.
Progression, saves, and purchases are not the same thing
What can move with you
Ubisoft supports cross-progression and cross-save across supported platforms when the same Ubisoft Account is linked. In practical terms, that can allow supported game progress to follow a player who changes from a console edition to Switch 2 or uses more than one supported system.
Cross-save is about the state of play: such as progression, unlock status, or other data Ubisoft identifies as supported. It is not a promise that every item displayed in a platform store becomes owned everywhere.

What does not transfer to Switch 2
Ubisoft specifically says purchases made through Xbox, PlayStation, Ubisoft Connect, Epic Games Store, and Steam do not transfer to Switch 2. A player who bought a vehicle pack, premium currency, expansion, or other paid content through one of those stores should not assume that the Switch 2 copy will unlock it automatically.
This is the key purchasing trap: a save may appear on Switch 2 while a separately purchased add-on remains unavailable there. Treat each store’s entitlement as a separate question from the account’s progression.
Safer migration procedure
- Identify the Ubisoft Account used on the original platform. Do this before launching the Switch 2 edition, especially if more than one email address has been used for gaming accounts.
- Link the Switch 2 session to that same Ubisoft Account. Using a new or different account can separate the new save from the progress you meant to carry over.
- Allow the game to synchronize while connected. The Switch 2 edition requires persistent internet access, so complete the first sign-in and synchronization with a reliable connection.
- Check progress before buying add-ons. Confirm that the expected profile and progression are present, then review the Switch 2 store listing for any paid content you need.
- Re-purchase or otherwise obtain Switch 2 entitlements when required. Do not count an earlier Xbox, PlayStation, Ubisoft Connect, Epic Games Store, or Steam purchase as a Switch 2 license.
If progress is missing after linking, stop before creating substantial new progress on a different account. Verify the account identity and linkage first; the documented cross-progression condition is the same linked Ubisoft Account.

Which version fits your priorities?
Pick Switch 2 for portability
Switch 2 is the straightforward decision if you want to move between a television and handheld play without buying a second edition of the game. Tabletop mode adds another option for shared spaces or situations where a television is unavailable. Ubisoft also lists the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller as a supported peripheral; it is optional, not a stated requirement for playing.
Accept the connected design at the same time. The persistent internet and Ubisoft Account requirements apply even though the hardware can be used handheld.

Staying on PS5 or Xbox Series X|S avoids a hardware change and avoids the specific Switch 2 purchase-portability warning. If your paid content is already tied to one of those stores, keeping that platform is the least complicated way to access those entitlements. The available documentation does not establish whether either console delivers a higher frame rate or better image quality than Switch 2, so make that decision based on your existing setup rather than an unsupported specification.
Use cross-progression when you genuinely need two platforms
A two-platform setup can make sense when one system is your television machine and Switch 2 is your travel or secondary device. Link both to the same Ubisoft Account and expect progress to be the portable part of the arrangement. Budget separately for any paid content that must be acquired again on Switch 2.

Buying and setup checklist
- Confirm the platform edition. Make sure the listing is for Switch 2 rather than a different Nintendo version or a bundle whose included content is unclear.
- Check your connection. Persistent internet is an explicit Switch 2 requirement.
- Prepare a Ubisoft Account. Use the account that already contains your Motorfest progress if you are migrating.
- Review Nintendo Switch Online terms. Nintendo’s listing points to the service for online play; regional conditions can vary.
- Reserve storage. The listed 58.5 GB is dated and can grow with updates.
- Separate saves from purchases. Cross-save does not make Xbox, PlayStation, Ubisoft Connect, Epic Games Store, or Steam purchases transferable to Switch 2.
- Check seasonal entitlements. Season 11 is available across the named platforms, but premium content still follows store ownership.
Questions the official specifications do not answer
Is PS5 or Xbox Series X|S faster than Switch 2?
There is not enough sourced information here to make that claim. The documented Switch 2 target is 1080p at 30 FPS, while equivalent official numbers or independent measurements for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S were not provided. Loading times, image-quality comparisons, sustained frame-rate behavior, and console-specific storage footprints therefore remain unresolved.
Does the Switch 2 edition run offline?
Not according to Ubisoft’s stated requirement: a persistent internet connection is required. Handheld mode changes the display and control context, not that connectivity condition.
Will a console DLC purchase appear on Switch 2?
Ubisoft’s stated rule is no for purchases made through Xbox, PlayStation, Ubisoft Connect, Epic Games Store, and Steam. Verify the Switch 2 listing and entitlement before assuming access to a paid pack.
Can progress move from PS5 or Xbox Series X|S?
Supported cross-progression and cross-save can carry progress when the same Ubisoft Account is linked. The rule concerns supported progress data; it does not transfer the original store purchase.
How many players can be online on Switch 2?
Nintendo lists 1–32 online players. Because the store page also points to Nintendo Switch Online, confirm the subscription requirement and any regional conditions attached to your account.
Bottom line
Switch 2 changes The Crew Motorfest most by making the game portable, not by providing a documented high-performance mode. Its official specification is 1080p/30 FPS in TV and handheld modes, with persistent internet and a Ubisoft Account required. PS5 and Xbox Series X|S remain valid console choices, but this evidence cannot establish a performance winner between them and Switch 2. Link the same Ubisoft Account if you need shared progress, and treat every paid add-on as a separate platform-store purchase.
