The reported Steam giveaway is Pony Island, not Inscryption. An October 9, 2026 report said players could claim Pony Island for free through October 12 at 19:00; check the live Steam listing for the current offer and the deadline shown in your region.
Which game is free on Steam?
Pony Island is the game identified in reports about the limited-time Steam giveaway. It is associated with Daniel Mullins Games, the studio behind Inscryption. The giveaway does not make Inscryption free: it is a separate, later game.

Hrej.cz reported the offer on October 9, 2026, with a claim deadline of October 12 at 19:00. ComicBook.com also identified Pony Island as the giveaway game in an October 8 report. Because the live Steam offer and regional deadline can change, use the Steam store page to confirm availability before trying to claim it.

No offer cited in these reports makes Inscryption free. Steam lists it as a Daniel Mullins Games release published by Devolver Digital on October 19, 2021. Its store description characterizes it as a blend of deckbuilding roguelike, escape-room puzzles, and psychological horror. The official Inscryption website describes the same mix of card-based deckbuilding, puzzles, and psychological horror.

What “Free to Keep” means on Steam
Steamworks distinguishes a Free to Keep promotion from both a free-to-play game and a free weekend. Valve describes Free to Keep as a time-limited giveaway or 100% discount: claim the game while the promotion is active and the license remains yours. Free-to-play games are permanently free to acquire, while a free weekend grants temporary access. See Steamworks’ promotion documentation for the distinction.
How to check and claim the offer
- Open Steam and search the store for Pony Island.
- On the game’s store page, confirm that Steam displays a 100% discount or free-to-keep offer and check the end time shown for your region.
- Use the page’s purchase or claim option while the promotion is active, then confirm that the game appears in your Steam Library.
If the store page shows a price or the offer has ended, the reported deadline may have passed or may not apply to your region. Do not assume that a past giveaway makes the game permanently free.
