The Conjuring: Unspoken is a single-player, story-driven paranormal-investigation game set in The Conjuring universe. Netflix announced it as an exclusive Netflix release for October 13, 2026. You play on a TV or computer browser while using a phone or tablet as the controller, and the game requires an internet connection.
You do not need to watch the films first. You should, however, be comfortable with an 18+ horror rating and warnings for murder, blood, religious horror and child possession. The practical questions are whether you have a supported Netflix viewing screen, a compatible phone or tablet for control, and enough tolerance for those themes.

What kind of game is The Conjuring: Unspoken?
The game is a narrative paranormal investigation rather than a conventional action game. Its story centers on a haunting at the Red Lion Inn, where you investigate what is happening, collect clues and decide how to respond to events. Dialogue and action choices can change the course of the story, so your decisions are part of the game rather than decoration around a fixed plot.

1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteNetflix describes investigative tools including an EMF reader, radio and infrared camera. These tools are presented as part of the in-game investigation: you use them to examine the haunting and make sense of evidence. The experience is designed around atmosphere, discovery and decisions instead of competitive multiplayer or a score-based arcade format.

Warner Bros. Games is the developer named in Netflix’s support information. Netflix is the stated exclusive platform, and the reviewed official material describes a digital game rather than a boxed or downloadable physical edition.
Release date, platform and basic requirements
Netflix announced the game on October 8, 2026, with a release date of October 13, 2026. Availability can still vary by country, account region and supported device, so the Netflix listing and local Help Center are the final checks for your location.
| Item | What Netflix’s information establishes |

| What controls the game | A phone or tablet used as the control surface |

| Release access | Netflix exclusive; no separate physical edition or accessory requirement is established |
Netflix lists TV and computer browsers as the platform categories. It does not publish a complete model-by-model compatibility list in the cited support material. That means a device category alone is not a guarantee that every television, browser or mobile device will work. Check Netflix on the exact devices you intend to use before planning a play session.
How the two-screen setup works
The unusual part of the setup is that the screen showing the investigation and the device handling controls are separate. Your television or computer browser displays the game world, while your phone or tablet acts as the controller. The official description does not establish that a dedicated gamepad, special phone accessory or physical game copy is required.
Set up a first session
- Confirm access in your region. Open Netflix on the television or computer browser you plan to use and look for The Conjuring: Unspoken. If it is not listed, availability or device support may not yet have reached your region.
- Prepare the control device. Have a phone or tablet available for the control role. Keep it charged, connected to the internet and within easy reach while you play.
- Start the game from Netflix. Launch the game from its Netflix listing on the main screen. Follow the on-screen pairing or connection instructions shown by Netflix; the exact prompts can vary by device.
- Keep both screens available. The television or browser is the primary display. The phone or tablet is the input surface, so avoid locking its screen or switching to another app during play.
- Test before committing to a long session. Move through the opening controls and verify that actions entered on the phone or tablet appear on the main display. If pairing fails, stop at this stage and troubleshoot the connection rather than starting a story sequence.
Because the game cannot be played offline, a temporary loss of connectivity can interrupt a session. Cloud saves are supported, which is useful when returning on a supported Netflix screen, but cloud saving does not remove the need for an active connection while playing.

How investigation and choices work
The game’s central loop combines exploration, evidence gathering and decisions. You investigate the Red Lion Inn, use the available tools to examine clues and select dialogue or action responses as the situation develops.
Timed decisions
Netflix’s how-to guidance says that some interactions are timed. When a prompt appears, you may have only a limited window to choose a response. Read the available options quickly, but do not assume every decision has the same importance: the game presents choices as part of its branching narrative, and Netflix states that choices affect the story.
Recommended Free Tools
Points of no return
Objects outlined in yellow are points of no return. Treat that outline as a warning that interacting with the object can move the sequence forward and prevent you from freely revisiting the previous state. Before selecting one, look around the area, inspect available evidence and finish any optional interaction you want to see.
Optional secrets
The official how-to material also mentions optional secrets that add lore. These are not required to follow the main investigation. If you want the fullest account of the setting, search rooms and examine objects before advancing through a yellow-outlined interaction. If you prefer a faster story, you can continue without treating every secret as mandatory.
Do you need to watch The Conjuring films first?
No. Netflix says the films are not required to play The Conjuring: Unspoken. The game is intended to provide its own narrative context, so a newcomer can begin without completing the movie series.

- Amazon Exclusive - 2 sided poster included in every game!
- Grace Ashcroft, an FBI intelligence analyst who is introverted and easily scared, representing a new type of character for the Resident Evil series. Grace will experience horror from the same perspective as the player as she learns to overcome her fears throughout the course of the story.
- For the first time ever in Resident Evil history, players will be able to freely switch between both first- and third-person perspectives throughout the game.
- An Anniversary to Remember: With March 2026 marking the Resident Evil series’ 30-year anniversary, Resident Evil Requiem marks its own milestone in the franchise.
- Pre-orders for Resident Evil Requiem are now open, with the bonus of Grace’s costume: Apocalypse. Please note that the picture weapon does not come with the costume, but it can be obtained in-game.
Film familiarity may still add context when recognizable characters, locations or ideas from the wider universe appear. That is an optional bonus, not a prerequisite. If you have not seen the films, you can approach the game as a standalone investigation and decide whether later references make you curious about the wider series.

Content warnings and age suitability
Netflix’s Help Center lists an 18+ rating. The accompanying warnings specifically name murder, blood, religious horror and child possession. Those are substantive themes, not merely a general indication that the game is “scary.” Consider the warning before involving children, people sensitive to religious imagery or anyone who may find possession and violence distressing.
The game’s interactive format can make disturbing material feel more immediate than watching a film: you may be asked to investigate a scene or choose a response rather than simply observe it. Netflix does not describe a separate lower-intensity mode in the reviewed information, so do not assume that such an option exists.
Languages and accessibility planning
Netflix lists these languages for the game: English, French, German, Italian, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish (Latin America) and Spanish (Spain/Castilian).
The support material does not provide a complete breakdown of subtitle, audio-description, color-contrast or control-remapping options. If a particular accessibility feature is essential, check the game’s details page and the settings available on your Netflix device before starting. Language availability can also depend on the region and account environment in which Netflix presents the title.

Common setup problems and sensible fixes
The game does not appear
First verify that you are searching the Netflix catalog on the intended TV or computer browser, then check whether the title is available in your country. Netflix’s published information does not provide a region-by-region launch table, so absence from a catalog is not proof that your account or device is malfunctioning.
The phone or tablet will not control the game
Keep the control device on the same active account session, check that its internet connection is working and follow the pairing instructions displayed by Netflix. Close unrelated apps that could interrupt the control screen, then restart the game and repeat the connection process. Netflix has not published a universal list of supported phone and tablet models, so a device-specific compatibility issue may require checking the current Help Center entry.
You lose progress
The game supports cloud saves, but an interrupted connection can prevent a save from completing. Reconnect before closing the game and allow the session to return to its normal menu rather than force-quitting during a transition. If progress still does not appear, confirm that you have returned to the same Netflix account environment.
You advanced too soon
A yellow outline marks a point of no return. If you interacted with it before examining optional evidence, the immediate sequence may no longer be reversible. On a future run, search the area first and treat each yellow-outlined object as the final action in that location.

Netflix’s published pages do not establish exact hardware models, every regional launch condition, a required Netflix plan tier, a separate purchase price, a physical edition, a dedicated controller requirement or an estimated playtime. They also do not provide a review score, sales figure, player-count statistic beyond the single-player designation or a study measuring how choices affect the number of possible endings.
Best Value
- A dark, enthralling 4-5 hour narrative to keep you hooked and guessing until the end. Gorgeous visuals as you traverse numerous and diverse environments, presented with a cinematic, film-like aesthetic. Ranged and melee combat with upgradeable weapons to help you survive your nightmarish journey.
- A stellar voice cast, starring Valerie Rose Lohman (What Remains of Edith Finch, Wolfenstein: Youngblood), Jonah Scott (Dying Light 2: Stay Human, Date Everything), and Aleks Le (Persona 3: Reload, Marvel Rivals, Ghost of Yotei).
- A beautifully dynamic and haunting soundtrack composed and performed by Jacob Noska, and Jonah Henthorne: members of the band Auric Echoes.
- The puzzles you encounter are more than your standard key hunt. Project Songbird rewards those with an eye for detail, making each puzzle a challenge of creativity and wits.
- The combat of Project Songbird offers a variety of approaches inspired by the classics of the survival horror genre. Melee and gunplay is slow and weighty, and ammo is incredibly scarce. However, combat isn't your only option, as you have a multitude of tools at your disposal to aid in sneaking past any creatures that wish to do you harm.
Do not buy an accessory or physical guide on the assumption that it is necessary. The confirmed setup is a Netflix digital game displayed on a TV or computer browser and controlled with a phone or tablet. Any more specific purchasing advice would go beyond what Netflix has documented.
Is The Conjuring: Unspoken a good fit for you?
It is a sensible fit if you want a solo, story-led horror experience, enjoy investigating environments and are comfortable making decisions under time pressure. The two-screen arrangement also suits a living-room session where one person controls the game while the main display remains visible.
It may not suit you if you need offline play, want traditional physical controls, dislike timed choices or are looking for competitive or cooperative multiplayer. The 18+ warnings should be treated as a firm suitability check, particularly because child possession and religious horror are named themes.
For a first play, prepare the two screens, verify Netflix access in your region, read the opening instructions carefully and explore before activating yellow-outlined interactions. You can begin without watching the films; your decision is mainly whether the online, phone-controlled format and mature subject matter match what you want from a horror game.
