Will De Renzy-Martin voices Coen, the protagonist of The Blood of Dawnwalker. The game’s premise gives Coen a divided existence—human by day and vampire by night—but the available evidence does not prove that AI will always fail to reproduce human performance. It does offer a more grounded point: a performance is more than a voice track, and claims about AI’s role in this game need to distinguish internal drafts from what players hear.
Who voices Coen in The Blood of Dawnwalker?
September 2026 reporting identifies Will De Renzy-Martin as the voice of Coen, the game’s protagonist. PopTopic’s report also describes an official conversation involving De Renzy-Martin and actor Neil Newbon, but its available account does not provide a transcript or a specific scene breakdown. It is therefore possible to identify the actor, but not to attribute particular vocal choices or remarks to him on this evidence alone.
The distinction matters: identifying a voice actor does not establish who performed motion capture or other aspects of a character’s performance. The available reporting names De Renzy-Martin as Coen’s voice actor, not as the performer for every part of the character.

What the role asks Coen’s performance to convey
According to Bandai Namco America’s description, Coen is human during the day and a vampire at night. The story takes place in fictional Vale Sangora, a valley in the Carpathian Mountains. That setup makes the character’s dual nature central to the premise, but it does not by itself tell us how De Renzy-Martin performs any particular moment.

A careful argument for the value of human acting would point to details a reader can actually hear or see in a scene: how a line changes with context, how a pause affects its meaning, or how a performance responds to another actor. Without a reviewed scene or interview transcript that documents those details, presenting them as features of De Renzy-Martin’s work would go beyond the evidence. The case here is narrower: the role is designed around a character with contrasting states, and understanding how an actor realizes that contrast requires attention to the actual performance, not just a claim about what AI can or cannot do.
What is reported about AI voice drafts—and what is not established
A September 2026 secondary guide says Rebel Wolves used AI-generated voice drafts internally before recording actors, and says those drafts do not appear in the released game. The account is reported by Gamepressure; the primary developer statements behind it were not available to verify here. Treat it as a secondary report, not as independently confirmed studio policy.

Even if the account is accurate, temporary internal drafts and a shipped character performance are different uses. A draft may serve as a production reference; it is not evidence that AI-generated voice work appears in the finished game, nor is it evidence that a generated performance can or cannot reproduce an actor’s work. Those conclusions require separate evidence.
Does De Renzy-Martin’s casting prove AI will always struggle?
No. The available sources establish his role and outline the character concept, but they do not offer a direct comparison between his performance and an AI-generated one. They also provide no specific scene analysis or actor testimony that could support a universal claim about AI’s limits. “AI will always struggle” is therefore an argument, not a demonstrated finding from the reported facts.

A more defensible point is that reproducing a line of dialogue is not the same as reproducing an entire performance. Performance can involve timing, interpretation, continuity across a story, and interaction with other performers. Those are useful dimensions for evaluating any claim about AI acting, but they should not be presented as measured results for this game without a concrete comparison.

The Blood of Dawnwalker was announced for September 3, 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X. Bandai Namco Europe published the launch details, and Rebel Wolves’ official homepage currently labels the game available. Xbox Wire describes it as a single-player, story-driven game set in the Carpathian region in its interview with Rebel Wolves creative director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz.
