Trivia Murder Party 2 is the closest match to the original Trivia Murder Party. It keeps the combination of trivia questions and dangerous minigames, and it is included in The Jackbox Party Pack 6. If your group wants a murder mystery built around investigation rather than trivia, choose Weapons Drawn in The Jackbox Party Pack 8. The original game remains a useful reference point: Jackbox Games lists it for 1–8 players with a 15-minute duration, rapid-fire trivia, minigames, and an escape-race finale.
The right choice depends on which part of the experience your group actually wants: the trivia loop, the horror-comedy atmosphere, social deduction, drawing and clue-hiding, or simply a bundle with several different party games. This guide separates those choices so you do not buy a murder-mystery game expecting a trivia game—or vice versa.
Quick answer: which game is most like Trivia Murder Party?
| Game | Where it appears | What you do | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Trivia Murder Party 2 | The Jackbox Party Pack 6 | Answer trivia and face dangerous minigames in a direct continuation of the original format. | Players who want the closest possible replacement or sequel. |
| Weapons Drawn | The Jackbox Party Pack 8 | Draw weapons, hide calling cards, investigate other players’ clues, and resolve murder-mystery cases. | Groups that want deduction and investigation more than trivia. |
| Other Jackbox party games | Several Party Packs, including the Party Trilogy bundle | Games such as Fibbage, Quiplash, Guesspionage, and Fakin’ It change the activity rather than reproduce the Trivia Murder Party loop. | Groups that want variety in one party-game collection. |
For the most familiar experience, start with Trivia Murder Party 2. For a different game that still delivers a murder-mystery mood, choose Weapons Drawn. Treat the other games as variety picks, not close mechanical substitutes.

The original Trivia Murder Party combines three elements that are easy to confuse when shopping for alternatives:
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Trivia: players answer rapid-fire questions rather than merely voting or improvising.
- Dangerous minigames: the trivia rounds are interrupted by shorter challenges with a lethal, comic-horror presentation.
- An escape-race finale: the game ends with a race to escape, giving the session a clear climax instead of stopping after a final question.
Jackbox Games lists the original for 1–8 players and a 15-minute duration. Those are the publisher’s product specifications, not an independent measurement of how long every group will take. A group that debates answers, pauses between rounds, or plays repeatedly can spend longer than the listed duration.
The combination matters more than any single feature. A conventional trivia game can match the questions but lack the minigames and finale. A social-deduction game can match the suspicion and elimination theme but contain no trivia. A drawing game can create clues and accusations without reproducing the rapid question-and-answer rhythm. Use the comparison below to decide which component is non-negotiable for your group.
Trivia Murder Party 2: the closest match
Why it is the safest recommendation
Jackbox describes Trivia Murder Party 2 as continuing the trivia questions and dangerous minigames of the first game. That makes it the only option in this set that directly carries forward the original premise and play loop. If someone asks for “another Trivia Murder Party,” this is the answer to give first.

The sequel is not sold as a standalone game. Jackbox Support identifies it as one of five games in The Jackbox Party Pack 6. You therefore need to evaluate the whole pack, not search for a separate Trivia Murder Party 2 purchase. The pack may be worthwhile when several people in your group will also play its other titles; it is a less targeted purchase if you want only one game and will never use the rest.

What it does—and what the evidence does not establish
- It continues the original’s trivia-and-dangerous-minigame concept.
- It is included in Party Pack 6.
- The available official descriptions do not establish a separate player count or duration for the sequel in the same way the original product page specifies those figures.
- Platform availability is not automatically identical across every device. Jackbox Support advises checking the individual game or pack page for supported platforms.
Do not infer that the sequel has exactly the original’s listed 15-minute duration or that every platform carries Party Pack 6. Those details require checking the store page for your region and device.
Who should choose it?
Choose Trivia Murder Party 2 when your group enjoyed the original’s answer-first structure and wants more of that structure. It is also the best choice when the phrase “like Trivia Murder Party” means “same type of trivia session, with the same dangerous comic framing,” rather than “any game involving murder.”
Weapons Drawn: the best detective-oriented alternative
How the premise differs
Weapons Drawn is a murder-mystery party game in The Jackbox Party Pack 8. Players draw weapons, hide calling cards, investigate clues belonging to other players, and resolve cases. Its central activity is deduction: participants interpret evidence and work out what happened.

That makes it a strong thematic alternative but not a mechanical sequel. You should expect drawing, clue management, investigation, and case resolution—not a run of trivia questions leading into an escape race. The murder-mystery atmosphere is shared; the primary skill and activity are different.

When it is a better fit than Trivia Murder Party 2
- Your group prefers spotting contradictions and interpreting clues to recalling answers.
- Players enjoy constructing or concealing evidence and then examining what other people created.
- You want a detective story structure rather than a trivia tournament.
- The group already owns or is considering Party Pack 8 and wants a game that supplies a different kind of murder-mystery session.
What to check before buying
Weapons Drawn is included in Party Pack 8 rather than sold as an individual title, according to Jackbox’s game information. Confirm that Party Pack 8 is supported on the host’s platform and available in your region. The support guidance for Jackbox games is to check each game’s page because platform availability is not uniform across all platforms.
Other Jackbox games: useful variety, not direct substitutes
Jackbox’s Party Trilogy listing places the original Trivia Murder Party alongside other party games, including Fibbage, Quiplash, Guesspionage, and Fakin’ It. These titles can be good additions to a party library, but they do not all reproduce the trivia-plus-minigame loop.
| If your group wants… | Start with… | Why |
|---|---|---|
| The same core premise | Trivia Murder Party 2 | It is the direct continuation of the trivia and dangerous-minigame format. |
| Murder-mystery deduction | Weapons Drawn | It centers on drawings, hidden calling cards, clues, investigations, and cases. |
| A change of activity inside a bundle | Games such as Fibbage, Quiplash, Guesspionage, or Fakin’ It | They offer different party-game structures instead of being close copies of Trivia Murder Party. |
| The original game plus several related packs | The Jackbox Party Trilogy on Nintendo Switch in the United States | Nintendo lists it as a digital edition containing the first three Party Packs, including the original Trivia Murder Party. |
The last row is a confirmed example for the US Nintendo Switch store, not proof that the same bundle or contents are available on every platform or in every country. Store listings can differ by region, edition, and device.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsChoose by the play loop your group wants
Choose Trivia Murder Party 2 for trivia plus peril
This is the correct decision when the defining sentence for your group is: “We want to answer questions, then survive or suffer through dangerous minigames.” The sequel preserves that identity more closely than any other option named here.

Choose Weapons Drawn for investigation
Select this when players would rather create clues, conceal information, inspect other players’ evidence, and resolve a case. It keeps the murder-mystery tone while replacing trivia with deduction and drawing.
Choose a broader pack for variety
A larger Jackbox collection makes sense when the host wants several different activities for the same gathering. The trade-off is focus: games such as Fibbage, Quiplash, Guesspionage, and Fakin’ It are alternatives for changing the mood, not evidence-based replacements for Trivia Murder Party’s exact structure.
Platform and purchase checks
Do these checks before committing to a pack:
- Identify the host device. The game normally runs on the device connected to the display; other participants’ access requirements can differ.
- Open the official game or pack page for that platform. Jackbox Support specifically advises checking individual game pages because supported platforms are not uniform.
- Verify the edition and region. The Nintendo Switch example is a US digital listing for The Jackbox Party Trilogy; do not assume that listing, bundle contents, or purchase rights apply to another country.
- Check whether the game is bundled. Trivia Murder Party 2 is in Party Pack 6, and Weapons Drawn is in Party Pack 8. Searching for a standalone copy can lead you to the wrong product or an unavailable listing.
- Decide whether the other pack games have value for your group. Since the two closest options are pack inclusions, the practical purchase question is whether you will use the rest of the pack.
This process prevents the most common mismatch: buying a pack because its title sounds right without confirming the host platform, regional store, or included game.
Content suitability and family play
Jackbox Support says its games, except The Jackbox Naughty Pack, are ESRB-rated T for Teen. The same guidance says Trivia Murder Party is inherently family-unfriendly because of its murder premise. A teen rating and a family-friendly experience are not interchangeable labels.
Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
Jackbox also documents the availability of a Family-Friendly Filter on a game-by-game basis. Check whether the specific title you plan to play offers that option. A filter can remove or soften some content where available, but it does not erase the underlying murder premise or guarantee that every group will consider the game suitable.
Use a simple suitability check
- Ask whether everyone is comfortable with comic murder and elimination themes.
- Check the official rating and content-filter information for the exact game.
- Do not assume that a filter exists merely because another Jackbox title has one.
- For mixed-age gatherings, explain the premise before starting so younger players and their guardians can opt out.
A practical decision tree
- Do you want trivia to remain the main activity? If yes, choose Trivia Murder Party 2 in Party Pack 6.
- If not, do you want murder-mystery investigation? If yes, choose Weapons Drawn in Party Pack 8.
- If neither is essential, do you want several different party activities? Consider a broader Jackbox bundle that includes games such as Fibbage, Quiplash, Guesspionage, or Fakin’ It.
- Is the group mixed-age or sensitive to horror-comedy themes? Review the rating, the murder premise, and the title’s Family-Friendly Filter status before buying.
- Has the host platform been confirmed? If not, stop and check the official listing. Bundle availability is not universal.
What the original game remains best at
The original Trivia Murder Party is still the clearest benchmark for this category because its identity is unusually specific: rapid-fire trivia, dangerous minigames, and an escape-race ending in a short publisher-listed format for 1–8 players. That combination gives a group a compact session with a recognizable progression from questions to hazards to a final escape.
Trivia Murder Party 2 is therefore the best answer when “like” means “continue this exact kind of party game.” Weapons Drawn is the better answer when “like” means “keep the murder-mystery social energy but give us clues and investigation instead of trivia.” Other games in the Jackbox catalog are sensible bundle companions when variety matters more than matching the original formula.
