There is no verified Tearscape-specific graphics preset. The most reliable way to make the game feel smoother is to establish a repeatable gameplay test, reduce the demanding options that your own build actually exposes, and compare one change at a time. Start with effects, shadows, particles, post-processing, detail or material quality, and anti-aliasing if those controls exist; reduce resolution only when necessary; treat VSync as a deliberate trade-off because disabling it can introduce visible tearing.
This is a method rather than a promised frame-rate recipe. The available sources do not document Tearscape’s settings menu, measure the performance cost of individual options, or provide a Tearscape PC benchmark. Your best result is therefore the clearest image that remains consistently responsive in the scene that normally causes trouble.
What the published information actually says
Tearscape is described by the Xbox listing as a 2D, top-down action-adventure with pixel art inspired by Game Boy Color classics. That listing identifies Xbox Series X|S support and advertises “60 fps+” capability on that platform: Xbox store listing. The wording is a platform capability, not an independently measured result and not a statement about PC performance. It does not tell you what frame rate a particular computer, display or graphics driver will deliver.
Recommended Free Tools
The Steam page supplies minimum operating-system, processor, memory, graphics and storage requirements, but it does not establish a recommended target for smooth play. It also does not document which graphics controls are present in the game: Tearscape on Steam. Treat every setting name in the procedure below as a category to look for, not as a guaranteed Tearscape menu label. A build may combine several controls, use different wording, or expose no adjustment at all.

General PC game guidance from Riot Games Support recommends lowering demanding settings, testing, and then increasing selected options until the preferred balance is found. It cautions that turning off VSync can cause screen tearing. That guidance applies as a troubleshooting framework, not as a Tearscape test; Riot explicitly notes, “There’s no single perfect setup for every PC.” The support article is dated October 7, 2026: Riot Games graphics-optimization guidance.
Check your platform before changing anything
Use the table to identify which published minimum applies to your installation. These figures are minimums only; meeting them does not guarantee a particular frame rate, frametime consistency, or visual quality.
| Platform listed by Steam | Operating system | Processor | Memory | Graphics | Storage |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Windows | Windows 10 | Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 | 2 GB RAM | Intel HD Graphics 5500 or AMD Radeon R5 | 200 MB |
| macOS | macOS 11.0 | Apple M1 | 2 GB RAM | Not stated separately | 400 MB |
| SteamOS/Linux | Ubuntu 20.04 LTS | Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 | 2 GB RAM | Intel HD Graphics 5500 or AMD Radeon R5 | 200 MB |
The store listing does not date these requirement figures or identify them as a laboratory test. A computer above the minimum can still have inconsistent performance because of driver state, background processes, thermal limits, display scaling, power settings, or a demanding scene. Conversely, a machine close to the listed minimum may run an uncomplicated section acceptably and then struggle when effects or scrolling become busier.
Before tuning: establish a useful baseline
Write down the platform, game version, display resolution, window or full-screen mode, refresh rate, VSync state and every visible graphics value. This takes a minute and prevents a later comparison from becoming guesswork. If you use a frame-rate limiter, driver-level override or recording application, note that too and leave it unchanged during the test.
Close browsers, unnecessary launchers, capture tools and overlays for the first pass. The point is not to claim that background programs always cause stutter; it is to remove variables while you learn how Tearscape behaves on your system. If you normally play with an overlay, repeat the final test with it enabled so the result matches real use.
Choose a route that includes the problem. A quiet title screen or empty room cannot tell you whether a busy combat effect causes a hitch. Use the same save, room, encounter, scrolling direction and approximate camera movement after every change. If loading or random enemy behavior makes the scene vary, run it several times and compare the most common experience rather than one unusually smooth attempt.
A repeatable five-minute tuning method
Consistency matters more than guessing. Use the same save, room, combat encounter or traversal route after every change. If the game has no built-in benchmark, record observations in a short note: scene, setting changed, image quality, hitching, input feel and tearing.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Start from a known baseline. Launch Tearscape after closing unnecessary overlays, browsers and capture tools. Write down the current resolution, display mode, VSync state and every visible graphics value. Do not change several controls before the first test.
- Choose a repeatable scene. Pick an area that reliably produces the stutter or slowdown you notice. A busy combat room, particle-heavy effect or scrolling section is more useful than a quiet menu. Play the route for several minutes, including the action that normally feels uneven.
- Change one setting group. Lower only one category, apply the change, then repeat the same route. If the game requires a restart, restart before testing. One-at-a-time changes tell you which compromise helped; changing six values at once does not.
- Judge smoothness and clarity separately. Note whether camera movement and input feel steadier, then inspect pixel edges, text, sprites and effects. A blurrier image can feel worse even if a demanding scene improves. Do not assume a visual change produced a measurable frame-rate gain; no Tearscape-specific measurement establishes one.
- Keep the improvement, or restore it. If the scene feels unchanged and the image is worse, return to the previous value. If it improves, keep that setting and test the next category from the new baseline.
- Retest the original problem. After several changes, replay the exact first route. This prevents a setting that helps one quiet area from masking a slowdown elsewhere.
For a more disciplined comparison, rate each run from one to five for perceived smoothness, image clarity and control response. The numbers are your notes, not a benchmark, but they make a small improvement easier to recognize. Also record whether a hitch happens once during loading or repeatedly during play; those are different symptoms and may not respond to the same control.
Which settings to investigate first
The following order follows general graphics-optimization practice. Your copy of Tearscape may omit some controls, use different names, or combine several categories. Change only controls that are visibly available. If a category is absent, skip it rather than editing undocumented configuration files.

1. Shadows, lighting and ambient effects
Dynamic shadows and lighting effects can require repeated rendering work as characters and objects move. If Tearscape exposes a shadow, lighting, ambient-occlusion or similar quality selector, try the next lower level first. Compare dark areas and moving objects for distracting loss of depth. If no such control appears, skip it rather than searching for an undocumented file edit.
2. Effects, particles and spell or weather quality
Particles, flashes, smoke, water, sparks and other transient effects can create short bursts of work during combat. Lower an effects or particles control if present, then replay the same effect-heavy encounter. Watch for reduced visual feedback: an option that removes important attack cues may not be worth the gain. If the menu separates effects from particles, test them separately so you know which visual layer matters.
3. Post-processing
Blur, bloom, color grading, screen-space effects and similar finishing passes are often grouped under post-processing. Lowering or disabling that group can simplify the final image. Pixel-art games may look cleaner without blur, but the result depends on the implementation, so inspect text and sprite outlines before keeping the change. Take a short scrolling run as well as a still scene; some artifacts are visible only while the camera moves.
4. Detail or material quality
A detail, environment, texture or material-quality control may affect how scenery and surfaces are drawn. Reduce it one step and compare a dense area with a simple room. Because Tearscape’s documented sources do not list its menu, do not assume that a “low” preset has a particular internal resolution or texture size. If textures become muddy without any improvement in the problem scene, restore the previous value.
5. Anti-aliasing
If anti-aliasing is offered, test a lower mode or off state. It can soften jagged edges, yet pixel-art presentation may intentionally use crisp, hard edges. Check diagonal lines, text and small sprites at your normal viewing distance. Keep the lowest setting that remains comfortable rather than disabling it automatically. Compare at the actual display resolution, since a setting that looks acceptable in a small window may look harsh at full size.
6. Resolution and display scaling
Resolution is a broad performance lever and usually the most visible compromise. First try the native panel resolution with other expensive options reduced. If the demanding scene still stutters, lower the in-game resolution one step while preserving the display’s aspect ratio. Avoid non-integer scaling when it makes pixel art visibly soft, and check that the game has not switched to an unexpected window size.

After changing resolution, inspect the entire image, not just the area where the slowdown occurred. Read a menu, walk through a detailed room and perform the same combat move. If the picture is softer but the route feels identical, undo the resolution change and keep the clearer image. There is no documented Tearscape result that justifies accepting blur for a guaranteed gain.
7. VSync
VSync coordinates frame presentation with the display refresh cycle. Leaving it enabled can prevent visible tearing, while disabling it may reduce waiting or input delay on some systems but can introduce tearing, as the general guidance warns. Test both states in the same scrolling scene. Keep VSync enabled if tearing is distracting; disable it only when the resulting image remains acceptable and the control response is clearly better for you.
Do not judge VSync from a static room. Tearing is easiest to see during horizontal camera movement, while responsiveness is easiest to judge during a precise turn or attack. Make the comparison with the same display refresh rate and window mode; changing those at the same time makes the result ambiguous.

A quick comparison matrix
| Category | First test | What to inspect | When to restore it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Effects or particles | One step lower | Busy combat, flashes and feedback cues | Important attacks become hard to read and smoothness does not improve |
| Shadows or lighting | One step lower | Depth in dark or moving areas | Scenes look flat without a repeatable benefit |
| Post-processing | Lower or disable | Blur, bloom, text and sprite outlines | Image loses clarity or no hitch changes |
| Detail or materials | One step lower | Dense scenery versus a simple room | Textures become muddy with no observable gain |
| Anti-aliasing | Lower mode or off | Diagonal edges, small sprites and text | Pixel edges look uncomfortable |
| Resolution | One step lower, correct aspect ratio | Overall sharpness and the original problem scene | Picture is softer without steadier play |
| VSync | Compare on and off | Tearing, input feel and scrolling | Either tearing is distracting or responsiveness does not improve |
This table is a testing order, not a claim that every row exists in Tearscape or that one row is universally more expensive than another. The useful comparison is the change you can observe on your own platform.

No searched source provides a Tearscape-specific frame-rate statistic, frame-time chart or measured gain for any option. Use observable comparisons instead of inventing a target number.
- Same scene: repeat the same route, camera movement and combat action.
- Same conditions: use the same display, window mode, power mode and background applications.
- Same duration: test long enough to include the slowdown, not just the first few seconds after loading.
- Three observations: record perceived smoothness, image clarity and whether tearing appears.
- Reversible changes: change one value and retain the previous value until the result is clear.
- Repeatable conclusion: run the winning setting twice more. A one-off improvement may have been a loading event or a different enemy pattern.
If you have an operating-system or driver performance overlay, it can help show whether a change affects frame pacing, but the overlay’s number is your hardware’s observation, not an official Tearscape benchmark. Avoid comparing readings from different scenes or from a menu with readings during gameplay. A higher displayed frame rate is not automatically a smoother experience if frametime spikes or tearing remain visible.
Platform-specific guidance
Xbox Series X|S
The Xbox listing supports Series X|S and describes 60 fps+ capability for that platform. The source does not provide a Tearscape graphics-settings menu or a console performance test, so use the game’s available display options rather than importing PC assumptions. If the console version exposes no quality controls, concentrate on display mode, television refresh settings and whether tearing or judder is visible in a repeatable scrolling section. Keep the console and television in the same mode while comparing; changing both can conceal the cause of a difference.
Windows PC
Confirm that Windows and the graphics driver are operating normally, then close overlays and background recording before testing. Start with the in-game options and the sequence above. The Steam minimum is a compatibility floor, not evidence that every system meeting it will sustain a chosen frame rate. If a laptop offers balanced, battery-saving and performance power modes, choose one mode for the entire comparison and note it in your test log. Do not present a driver overlay reading as an official Tearscape result.

The Steam listing specifies macOS 11.0, Apple M1, 2 GB RAM and 400 MB storage as minimum requirements. Use the same repeatable-scene method, and test both windowed and full-screen modes only if the game offers them. Avoid assuming that a Windows setting name or driver behavior exists in the macOS build. Keep the computer connected or disconnected from power consistently, because a power-state change can alter behavior independently of a graphics option.
SteamOS and Linux
The listed minimum is Ubuntu 20.04 LTS with an Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 or equivalent listed graphics, 2 GB RAM and 200 MB storage. Verify which compatibility or native mode you are running, then keep that mode unchanged while comparing settings. A result from one translation layer or driver version should not be generalized to every Linux installation. Record the mode and driver version if you ask for help, since changing either can make a settings comparison invalid.
Symptoms and targeted fixes
The game feels uneven only during busy effects
Repeat the effect-heavy scene and lower effects or particles first, followed by shadows or post-processing if those controls exist. Keep the rest of the image unchanged so you can tell whether the burst is affected. If the hitch occurs only once when an effect first appears, repeat the scene to determine whether it is a loading event rather than a sustained graphics load.
Scrolling looks torn
Turn VSync on and replay the same scrolling movement. If tearing disappears but input feels less immediate, compare the two states in a section where precise control matters and choose the trade-off you can tolerate. Do not lower resolution merely to address tearing; resolution and frame presentation are separate questions.

The picture is blurry after tuning
Restore the previous resolution before lowering more quality controls. Check display scaling and aspect ratio, then test anti-aliasing or post-processing separately. Do not retain a resolution reduction that solves no observed slowdown. Pixel-art games can make small scaling changes especially noticeable around text and sprite outlines.
No setting appears to change performance
Restore the baseline and verify that the change was applied rather than merely selected. Test a busier scene, restart if the game requests it, and ensure an external frame limiter or overlay is not masking the result. The available evidence does not establish which Tearscape controls should have a measurable effect, so an inconclusive result is possible. If every option looks identical, keep the clearest image and document the scene, version and platform instead of forcing a lower preset.
Performance changed after an update
Re-run the baseline route and record the game version, platform and visible options. Tearscape’s official announcements include a mention of performance optimizations, but the announcement search does not provide a specific setting or measured improvement: Tearscape official announcements. Do not assume an update changed a particular option unless the game’s own notes say so. Rechecking the same route after an update is more useful than comparing a new scene with an old memory of performance.
The game is smooth but controls feel delayed
Compare VSync on and off in the same precise movement, keeping resolution and display mode fixed. If disabling VSync improves response but introduces distracting tearing, the choice is a personal trade-off rather than a universal fix. Also check whether an external limiter or display mode changed during testing; the published information does not identify a Tearscape-specific latency setting.
What not to infer from the published information
- Do not treat the Xbox “60 fps+” wording as a PC frame-rate result.
- Do not treat Steam’s minimum requirements as a recommended hardware target or smooth-performance guarantee.
- Do not assume Tearscape contains every commonly named graphics option.
- Do not promise a specific FPS gain from lowering any category; no source here measures one.
- Do not buy a particular graphics card, monitor or controller as a documented Tearscape fix; the available evidence supports a settings method, not a hardware prescription.
- Do not assume a lower preset is better if it makes pixel art blurry or removes useful combat cues.
- Do not compare a console capability statement with a PC overlay reading as though they were the same test.
Should you upgrade hardware?
The published information does not support a specific graphics-card, monitor, controller or other physical-product recommendation. The Steam requirements are small minimum figures, but they are not a measured target and do not identify a component whose replacement will solve every hitch. Before spending money, complete the controlled settings tests, check that the game and driver are behaving normally, and determine whether the problem is persistent in the same scene.
If a future diagnostic clearly identifies a failing component, that is a separate hardware decision. It should be based on the needs of your other games and applications rather than an unsupported promise of a Tearscape frame-rate gain. For this title, the evidence supports tuning and observation, not a named purchase.
A practical starting profile
If you need a concise first pass, leave resolution at the display’s normal value, keep VSync enabled while checking for tearing, and lower the first demanding category that your menu actually shows—effects or particles, shadows, post-processing, detail or materials, then anti-aliasing. Replay the same busy scene after each change. Reduce resolution only if those changes do not produce a satisfactory result, and restore any option whose visual cost is greater than its observed benefit.
This profile is intentionally conditional: it is a safe testing order derived from general guidance, not a verified Tearscape preset. Your final settings should be the values that make your own repeatable scene feel consistent while keeping the image readable. Save a note of that final profile so you can restore it after an update or when switching platforms.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are the best graphics settings for Tearscape?
There is no verified universal Tearscape preset. Start at the current resolution, keep VSync on while checking for tearing, then lower the demanding options your menu actually provides—effects or particles, shadows, post-processing, detail or materials, and anti-aliasing—in separate tests.

Does Tearscape have a 60 fps mode on PC?
The Xbox listing advertises “60 fps+” capability for Xbox Series X|S. That wording is a platform capability, not a PC benchmark, and the published sources do not establish a PC frame-rate mode or result.
Will the Steam minimum requirements guarantee smooth gameplay?
No. The listed Windows, macOS and SteamOS/Linux specifications are minimum compatibility figures. They do not guarantee a particular frame rate, consistent frametimes or a specific graphics quality.
Should I turn VSync off for better performance?
Test both states in the same scrolling scene. Disabling VSync may improve waiting or input response on some systems, but general guidance warns that it can introduce visible tearing. Keep it on if tearing is distracting.
Which setting should I lower first?
Use the first category that your build actually exposes. Effects or particles are a practical first test in a busy combat scene, followed by shadows, post-processing, detail or materials, and anti-aliasing. Change one category at a time.
Why did lowering settings not improve Tearscape?
The sources do not establish which Tearscape options have measurable performance effects. Verify that the change was applied, restart if requested, test a busier repeatable scene and remove overlays or background recording. An unchanged result is possible.
How do I fix blurry pixel art after changing settings?
Restore the previous resolution, confirm the aspect ratio and display scaling, and test anti-aliasing or post-processing separately. Keep the clearest setting unless a softer image produces a repeatable improvement.
Is a graphics-card upgrade required for Tearscape?
No specific upgrade is supported by the published information. Complete the controlled settings tests first; the minimum requirements are not a measured hardware target, and no component purchase is documented as a guaranteed fix.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesThe Bottom Line
Because no Tearscape-specific preset or benchmark is verified, tune by evidence: repeat the same demanding scene, change one available option at a time, and balance smoothness, clarity and tearing. Keep the clearest settings that remain consistently responsive on your own platform.
