The TerraMow Mini 500 is a compact, camera-guided robotic mower rated for lawns up to 500 m². It avoids boundary-wire and RTK setup, and a hands-on Notebookcheck review found its navigation and obstacle detection reliable in the garden tested. That is encouraging for a relatively flat urban lawn with visible edges—not a guarantee for every garden. Its slope limit, edge-cutting gap and mapping constraints make lawn layout as important as the headline area rating.
Is the TerraMow Mini 500 suitable for a small garden?
It can be a good fit for a compact lawn that is fairly level, has clearly defined edges and does not require the mower to cross rough ground. The 500 m² figure is TerraMow’s recommended area, not a promise that every lawn of that size can be cut on a convenient schedule. The manufacturer also specifies 130–250 m² of mowing per full charge and a rate of 75–110 m² per hour depending on lawn complexity. Treat these as manufacturer specifications, not independent test measurements. A complex layout or a lawn near the rated maximum may require more charging and scheduling than a simple open patch.
Notebookcheck’s August 26, 2026 hands-on review found the Mini 500 moved reliably around the test garden, but also described its pace as slow to moderate and its off-road capability as poor. This supports a cautious verdict for small, uncomplicated urban lawns, rather than a broad claim of universal reliability. Notebookcheck’s TerraMow Mini 500 review reports the test observations; TerraMow’s product page lists the manufacturer specifications.

Does it need a boundary wire, and how does mapping work?
No boundary wire or RTK antenna is part of the Mini 500’s stated navigation approach. TerraMow specifies TerraVision 2.0, which uses three cameras and AI vision. Instead of laying a perimeter wire, the owner maps the lawn in the TerraMow Pro app and can add exclusion zones.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
In Notebookcheck’s test, mapping a nearly 300 m² area took just under 90 minutes. The reviewer found navigation reliable in that garden, but noted that mapping can be difficult where the lawn is open to a neighboring property: without an obvious physical edge, the mower may not have a clear boundary to follow. The mapping result should therefore be considered specific to the test environment and not assumed for gardens with different edges or layouts. Notebookcheck says mapping can be paused and exclusion zones added.
How well does it detect obstacles and handle narrow passages?
Notebookcheck reported reliable obstacle detection during its hands-on test. That is useful evidence for ordinary garden objects, but it is not an independent confirmation of every object-recognition claim on the manufacturer’s page. The tested mower also negotiated a passage around 60 cm wide. That is a test observation, not a published minimum passage-width guarantee, so measure tight routes and consider turns and approach angles as well as the narrowest point.

Can it manage slopes and rough ground?
The stated maximum operating slope is 18° (32.5%). The review likewise reports that limit, but describes off-road capability as poor. A maximum slope figure does not establish performance on every surface at that angle: rough, uneven or slippery ground may be a problem even if the incline appears to fit the rating. The Mini 500 is a weak choice for steep or bumpy lawns; flatter, smoother gardens better match the available evidence.

The mower has an 18 cm cutting disc with three blades. Cutting height is set manually between 20 and 60 mm, so changing the height is not an app adjustment. Notebookcheck describes the mowing pace as slow to moderate.

The disc sits inside the mower’s housing rather than reaching the full outer width. Notebookcheck estimates roughly 10 cm between the disc and the housing on each side, which can leave an uncut strip at lawn edges, particularly where the transition is not level. Plan for some manual trimming if a crisp edge is important.
What does the package include, and what should buyers verify?
Notebookcheck reports that the package includes nine spare blades in addition to the three fitted cutting blades. It also says the garage roof is not included as standard and can be ordered separately. TerraMow’s product page presents standard-with-garage and standard-without-garage variants and notes a garage shipping date, so check the selected variant and current delivery details rather than assuming the roof is in the box.

Prices also depend on source, region and date. Notebookcheck listed a European suggested retail price of €749 and reported manufacturer and Amazon.de availability. At the time its product page was accessed in 2026, TerraMow displayed €799. Neither figure establishes today’s price in every country; confirm local pricing, stock and bundle contents before ordering. Notebookcheck’s review identifies Amazon.de listing identifier B0HF4S2GDM.
What app and maintenance details matter?
Notebookcheck says the Mini 500 requires the TerraMow Pro app and that older S/V series devices cannot be added to that app. Existing TerraMow owners should confirm compatibility and current app requirements before purchase. The product specifications list Wi-Fi and Bluetooth; optional 4G is marked “Launch Soon,” so do not assume cellular connectivity is currently available.

Notebookcheck says the mower can be washed with a garden hose based on its IPX6 rating, and that blade replacement requires a screwdriver that is not included. Follow the current product manual for cleaning and blade-replacement instructions, including how to make the mower safe before maintenance; the rating alone is not a substitute for those directions.
Quick Recap
Who should consider the Mini 500?
- Consider it if your lawn is relatively flat, compact, has visible edges and you want camera-based mapping rather than boundary-wire or RTK setup.
- Check the layout carefully if your lawn opens onto neighboring property or depends on narrow passages; the review’s 60 cm passage result was a test observation, not a minimum-width specification.
- Look elsewhere if your garden is steep, rough or uneven, or if you expect the mower to trim right to every edge without follow-up work.
- Confirm before buying the current local price, app compatibility, garage variant and included accessories.
