For bot developers, Telegram’s current Bot Platform Developer Terms assign a reward value of $0.013 per Star. That is separate from what a buyer pays to acquire Stars through Apple, Google, or PremiumBot. Telegram says the reward value is not tied to Stars’ purchase cost in any particular region, so an app-store fee is not simply deducted as a percentage from that stated reward.
Does Apple or Google take a cut of your Telegram Stars payout?
Not as a direct percentage deduction from Telegram’s stated bot-developer reward value. Buyers acquire Stars through in-app purchases on Apple or Google, or through PremiumBot; they then spend Stars on digital goods or services sold by bots and mini apps. Telegram sets a separate value for the developer’s reward.
Telegram’s Bot Platform Developer Terms of Service state that developers can receive the equivalent of $0.013 in rewards per Star. The terms explicitly say this assigned value has no direct connection to the historical, current, or anticipated purchase cost of Stars in any region. The buyer’s cost can vary with location, VAT, and other applicable fees, as Telegram explains in its Stars payment guide.

How much is a Telegram Star worth to a bot developer?
Under Telegram’s current terms, the assigned reward value is $0.013 per Star. For a simple illustration, 1,000 eligible Stars at that stated rate represent $13 in rewards before applicable taxes, any relevant deductions, and the conditions attached to reward processing. It is not a promise that every developer can withdraw that amount as cash in every country: Telegram says reward processing is handled through Fragment, which may not be available to some users or in some countries.
Stars are not cash held in a creator-owned account. Telegram’s terms say Stars in a bot balance are owned by Telegram and have no inherent value beyond Telegram’s good-faith commitment to provide advertising credits or rewards at Telegram-assigned values. The terms also say bot Stars expire after three years if not used for advertising or rewards.
Choose between Fragment rewards and Telegram Ads credit
Telegram’s terms describe two main uses for Stars earned by bots: seek rewards processed through Fragment, or spend the Stars on Telegram Ads for that specific third-party app. They have different assigned values and serve different purposes.

| Use | Telegram-assigned value | Best suited to | Key qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rewards through Fragment | $0.013 per Star | Developers seeking rewards rather than advertising credit | Fragment may be unavailable to some users or in some countries; reward processing is subject to Telegram’s terms. |
| Telegram Ads credit | $0.02 in advertising credit per Star | Developers who want to promote the relevant app | This is credit for Telegram advertising, not cash. Telegram says the assigned value may fluctuate. |
Telegram announced on June 30, 2024 that Stars could be withdrawn as Toncoin via Fragment and promoted Stars-funded Telegram Ads with a 30% discount. That announcement describes the offer at that time; current eligibility and processing conditions are set by the live Bot Platform Developer Terms.
What can delay or reduce the value you receive?
Stars may not be usable right away
Telegram says Stars received by a bot may take up to 21 days to become available for rewards or advertising credits. A balance shown before then may not yet be usable for either purpose.
Refunds, abuse, or policy violations can affect balances
Telegram reserves the right to withhold or debit Stars in response to user refunds of in-app purchases, suspected abuse, or violations of its terms. Separately, Telegram’s July 2025 announcement about suggested posts noted that Apple may issue buyer refunds within 21 days, which can lead to balance deductions in that context. These are potential adjustments, not an across-the-board percentage fee.

Taxes and fees are still your responsibility
The Bot Platform terms place responsibility for applicable taxes and fees on developers receiving income through the platform, including Stars. The $0.013 figure is Telegram’s assigned reward value per Star, not a statement of after-tax income.

Telegram’s current bot developer terms specify a non-refundable 15% fee on subsequent Stars purchases while a bot has topics enabled in private chats. This is tied to that configuration; it is not a universal deduction from all Telegram Stars rewards.

In its June 30, 2024 announcement, Telegram said it took “practically no commission” from Stars transactions, adding that taxes and payment-system fees would apply. That dated statement should not be read as a blanket guarantee that every bot has no fees or balance adjustments: current terms specify the private-chat-topics fee and allow deductions for refunds and policy issues.
For a bot developer estimating proceeds, use the current $0.013-per-Star reward value as Telegram’s stated baseline, then account separately for access to Fragment, timing, potential balance adjustments, applicable taxes, and any fee tied to the bot’s configuration.
