Its practical appeal is the ability to cook separate foods in those zones and use a sync function to finish them together. Tefal also includes a dedicated grill plate, but the available evidence does not establish how its real-world cooking, noise, or cleanup compares with rival appliances.
What the EY905C is—and what the capacity means
Tefal’s Australia support page identifies the exact model as the Dual Easy Fry & Grill Deluxe XXL Air Fryer EY905C and lists 8.3 L total capacity. The product is split into a 5.2 L large drawer and a 3.1 L smaller one, rather than two equal compartments. That arrangement gives you one larger zone for a main dish and a separate smaller zone for a side or another food that needs different settings.
Tefal Australia lists dimensions of 40.2 × 41.8 × 30.5 cm and a weight of 7.8 kg. Check the available space on your counter, including room to access the drawers, rather than judging fit by capacity alone. How the two drawers and sync function work
Tefal describes the drawers as independent, so they can cook different foods at different temperatures. Its sync function is intended to coordinate the drawers so both finish at the same time. In practice, that layout is most useful when a meal includes components with different cooking needs: you can use the large drawer for a larger item and the small one for a side, without treating the entire appliance as a single cooking space.

The smaller drawer can also be used on its own, according to Tefal. The 5.2 L compartment is the larger single cooking zone; the combined 8.3 L figure describes both drawers together, not the space available in one basket. Tefal’s product page positions the larger drawer for bigger ingredients and both drawers together for a family meal, but it does not provide independently verified serving counts. Cooking modes, presets, and included grill hardware
Tefal lists eight presets: fries, chicken, vegetables, fish, dessert, dehydration, manual cooking, and grill. Its product page also describes air fry, grill, bake, roast, reheat, and dehydrate functions. These are manufacturer-listed features, not evidence that every mode performs as well as a dedicated appliance for that task.

The grill function uses a dedicated die-cast grill plate, and Tefal lists a standard grid as an included accessory as well. This means the grill hardware is part of the stated package rather than an accessory the product page says must be bought separately. Confirm the bundle in the local retailer’s listing, since regional versions and packages can vary. Tefal Australia says the door and accessories are dishwasher-safe; that is the manufacturer’s care guidance, not a hands-on assessment of cleaning effort.

Tefal advertises up to 40% faster cooking, up to 70% less energy, and up to 99% less added fat. These are manufacturer claims, not general guarantees for every recipe or household. Their stated test contexts matter:

The cited comparisons concern particular foods and appliances; they do not establish the EY905C’s energy use or cooking speed for a typical mixed meal. The available product specifications and claims do not establish comparative cooking results, noise, long-term reliability, or the effort involved in cleaning after actual use. Treat those as unanswered practical questions rather than assuming the feature list settles them.

This review concerns EY905C. Tefal pages in other markets also show closely related codes such as EY905D40 and EY905B40. Their product pages describe similar dual-drawer capacities, but regional pages can round or report the smaller drawer differently. Check the exact model code on the appliance listing and confirm the included grill plate and grid for your country before purchase. Who should consider the EY905C?
- A good fit on paper: someone who wants two cooking zones of different sizes, the option to sync their finish, and a dedicated grill plate included in the stated package.
