Buy the Tecno Spark 50S 5G if your priorities are long battery life, a large 120Hz screen and basic 5G value. Its 6,500mAh battery and 45W wired charging are unusual at this price. The compromises are equally clear: the 6.78-inch panel is only 720×1600 HD+, the Dimensity 6400 is an entry-level 5G chip, and the camera system has just one rear camera. Buyers who care most about display sharpness, sustained gaming performance, camera flexibility or a documented software-support policy should compare alternatives before ordering.
Tecno announced the phone in India on 16 October 2026. The 6GB/128GB model is listed at ₹19,999, with sales planned from 20 October. A separate report lists an 8GB/128GB version at ₹22,999; treat that figure as a reported price rather than a confirmed nationwide retail price.
Tecno Spark 50S 5G: the key specifications

#1 Best Overall
What you get for ₹19,999
A very large, smooth-scrolling display
The 6.78-inch panel and 120Hz refresh rate make the interface feel more fluid when scrolling through feeds, web pages and settings. A 120Hz mode can also make supported games look smoother than a conventional 60Hz screen.
The trade-off is resolution. At 720×1600, this is an HD+-class display, not Full HD+. Text, fine textures, small icons and high-resolution photos will look less crisp than they do on a similarly sized 1080p panel. The lower pixel load can reduce GPU work and help battery endurance, but buyers who read a lot, edit photos or watch detailed video may notice the softness immediately. Check the panel in a shop if sharpness matters more to you than battery capacity.
Enough storage for normal use, but not a premium configuration
The listed ₹19,999 version combines 6GB of RAM with 128GB of storage. That is adequate for messaging, social apps, streaming, navigation and casual photography, but 128GB can fill quickly when games, offline video and camera files accumulate. The reported 8GB/128GB version costs ₹22,999; decide whether the extra memory is worth paying for your multitasking habits, and verify that the higher-memory model is actually sold in your region.

Performance: suitable for everyday use, not a proven gaming leader
MediaTek’s Dimensity 6400 is an entry-level 5G platform. It should handle calls, messaging, browsers, video streaming, maps and ordinary app switching, but the specification alone does not establish how it behaves during long gaming sessions or heavy multitasking.
Rank #2
- Ideal for Gifting
- Ideal for a bookworm
- Compact for travelling
That distinction matters because the related Tecno Spark 50 5G received hands-on testing from Android Central in 2026. That review described the design and battery life positively but found performance and camera quality wanting, including stutter and delays. Those observations are evidence about the Spark 50 5G, not a benchmark or test of the Spark 50S 5G. The two phones should not be treated as identical until independent Spark 50S testing is available.
What to expect in real use
- Social, office, shopping and streaming apps should be the comfortable workload.
- Switching among several demanding apps may trigger reloads, especially on the 6GB model.
- Casual and less demanding games are a more realistic target than long sessions at high graphics settings.
- A 120Hz display does not guarantee 120 frames per second; the processor and game engine still determine frame rates.
- Heat, throttling and sustained frame rates remain questions that launch specifications cannot answer.
If gaming is your main reason for upgrading, wait for independent tests that report sustained performance rather than relying on the 120Hz label.
Battery and charging: the Spark 50S’s strongest case
The 6,500mAh battery is the phone’s clearest hardware advantage. It is larger than the capacity commonly associated with budget 5G models and should provide substantial reserve for navigation, video, mobile data and long days away from a socket. The 45W wired charging rating also reduces the time needed to replenish it compared with basic 10W or 18W systems.
Capacity is not the same as measured endurance. Brightness, 120Hz mode, 5G reception, gaming, camera use and background synchronization can change results considerably. No verified local endurance test or charging-time measurement is established here. Confirm whether a 45W adapter is included in the Indian box; a phone can support 45W while the bundled charger or cable is slower.
Rank #3
How to get the most from the battery
- Use 120Hz when smoothness matters and switch to a lower refresh option when maximum endurance is the priority, if the software offers that control.
- Prefer Wi-Fi in weak-signal areas; a modem working hard to hold 5G can consume more power.
- Check background battery access for apps that do not need continuous synchronization.
- Use the supplied or a properly rated USB-C charger and cable rather than an unverified high-wattage accessory.
Cameras: adequate hardware, limited flexibility
The rear camera is a single 50MP autofocus unit, paired with an 8MP front camera. In bright daylight, autofocus and a high-resolution sensor can produce usable snapshots for messaging and social posts. The headline megapixel count does not by itself establish dynamic range, night performance, shutter speed or colour processing.
A single rear camera also means there is no dedicated ultrawide or telephoto perspective in the listed system. You must step back for a wider group or landscape shot and rely on digital cropping for distant subjects. Portrait separation, night detail and moving-subject results will depend heavily on Tecno’s image processing. Android Central’s comments about disappointing camera quality apply to its Spark 50 5G review, not a tested Spark 50S sample, so treat Spark 50S camera performance as unverified until local reviews publish samples.
Software, 5G and durability
Android 16 at launch
Running Android 16 means the Spark 50S starts with a current Android version for its 2026 launch. However, no reliable duration commitment for Android upgrades or security updates was identified. That is a meaningful ownership risk: two phones with similar hardware can have very different useful lifespans depending on update policy.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesBefore buying, ask the seller or Tecno support for the promised number of Android-version upgrades, security-update period and update schedule for the Indian model. Do not assume that Android 16 automatically guarantees a particular number of future versions.
Rank #4
Dual SIM and 5G
The phone is listed with dual-SIM support and 5G. Actual 5G availability depends on your carrier, plan, local coverage and the bands enabled in the Indian variant. Confirm band compatibility if you import a handset or buy a model intended for another market.
Protection ratings
Tecno lists IP64 protection, which indicates resistance to dust ingress and water splashes under the rating’s test conditions; it is not a promise that the phone can be submerged. A regional source also reports a MIL-STD-810H claim. Military-standard labels can cover different test methods and do not make a phone indestructible. Use a case and keep liquid away from ports, speakers and charging accessories.
How it compares with other budget 5G phones
The natural comparison set is the Infinix Hot 60 5G, POCO M6 Plus 5G and OPPO A3 Pro 5G. The available launch evidence does not establish one current India street price or a complete, directly comparable specification sheet for each rival, so the table identifies what must be checked rather than inventing figures.

Use this comparison in a shop or on a current product page: check whether a rival offers a Full HD+ panel, a faster or more efficient processor, stronger image processing, a larger storage tier or a clearer update promise. A rival can be the better buy even with a smaller battery if those attributes matter more to you.

Spark 50S 5G versus Spark 50 5G
The listed starting price for the Tecno Spark 50 5G is ₹17,499, which is ₹2,500 below the Spark 50S 5G’s ₹19,999 launch price. That lower price makes the Spark 50 5G worth considering if your budget is strict and you do not need the S model’s larger stated battery or 45W charging.
Do not choose between them on the name alone. Confirm the exact battery capacity, charging rating, display, memory configuration and software version for the units being sold in your market. Android Central’s 2026 review of the Spark 50 5G reported good design and battery-life impressions but also stutter, delays and camera shortcomings. Those results should make heavy-use buyers cautious, but they are not a substitute for a Spark 50S test.
Who should buy the Spark 50S 5G?
It fits these buyers
- You regularly finish the day with a nearly empty phone and want the largest stated battery in this comparison.
- You value a big 120Hz screen for scrolling more than maximum text and image sharpness.
- Your workload is messaging, web use, video, navigation, payments and casual games.
- You want dual-SIM 5G and are buying the Indian model through a seller that provides a valid local warranty.
- You can accept uncertain long-term update support and are comfortable checking charging accessories before purchase.
Choose another phone or wait if these are priorities
- Full HD+ sharpness is essential for reading, photography or detailed video.
- You play demanding games for long sessions or need predictable sustained performance.
- You want an ultrawide camera, optical zoom or a proven night-photography system.
- You require a published multi-year Android and security-update commitment.
- You need a confirmed retail price, charger bundle and warranty before launch-day availability is established.
India buying checklist
- Confirm that the listing is for the Tecno Spark 50S 5G, not the similarly named Spark 50 5G.
- Verify the RAM/storage tier: ₹19,999 refers to the listed 6GB/128GB configuration, while ₹22,999 is a reported 8GB/128GB price.
- Check the final sale price and stock after the planned 20 October 2026 launch date; prices and promotions can change.
- Ask whether the box contains a 45W charger and compatible USB-C cable.
- Check the Indian model’s 5G bands and dual-SIM arrangement against your carrier.
- Read the seller’s replacement, repair and warranty terms, including liquid-damage exclusions.
- Inspect the display in person if possible so you can judge whether 720×1600 resolution is sharp enough for you.
- Look for independent battery, charging, gaming and camera tests before paying a premium over the base configuration.
Verdict
At its ₹19,999 India launch price, the Tecno Spark 50S 5G is a sensible battery-first choice: 6,500mAh, 45W charging, 120Hz scrolling, Android 16 and 5G cover the essentials. It is not an all-round winner. The HD+ panel, entry-level Dimensity 6400 and single-camera setup are compromises you will notice if display clarity, demanding games or photography are central to your phone use. Buy it for endurance and everyday value; compare more carefully if performance, cameras or long-term software support come first.
