Verdict: TDM Neo is a clever wireless headphone that turns into a small Bluetooth speaker, and hands-on listeners generally enjoyed its sound. At $249 in the United States, however, it is a niche convenience product rather than a proven audio standout: no searched source provides standardized frequency-response, distortion, loudness or controlled comparison measurements. Buy it for the ability to move from private listening to close-range sharing without carrying a second device, not for an established audiophile performance claim.
What TDM Neo does differently
Neo uses a hinge-and-magnet design that twists the earcups together. In headphone mode, two inward-facing 40mm drivers play into your ears. After the twist, two outward-facing 40mm drivers become a compact speaker. Separate amplification and EQ profiles are intended to tune each driver pair for its different job.
The changeover can be configured in the companion app. A twist may switch playback, pause and resume, power the unit, or do nothing until you press a physical control. That flexibility matters because the product is not merely displaying its drivers outward: it is changing listening mode without requiring you to disconnect and re-pair another device.

Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Sound quality: enjoyable reports, missing measurements
Listening reports are favorable but short and subjective. Gadget Flow described the headphone output as “clean, easy to listen to and comfortable over long sessions.” In a one-week test, ZDNET reported dynamic sound, controlled bass, present mids and enjoyable highs, awarding Neo 3.0/5 (“Good”) overall. TechRadar’s CES trial also found the headphone sound seemed good and noted bass depth, while making clear that the session was brief.
“Ses quatre haut-parleurs de 40 mm et ses deux haut-parleurs de 5 W délivrent un son dynamique avec des basses bien maîtrisées, des médiums bien présents et des aigus agréables.”

That is enough to say Neo can be enjoyable, not enough to call it objectively balanced or audiophile-grade. iTechGuides noted that the available coverage did not establish standardized sound quality in both modes or compare Neo with a dedicated headphone and speaker. There are likewise no independent figures here for frequency response, total harmonic distortion, maximum loudness or room coverage.

Specifications, price and availability
| Specification | Reported detail |
|---|---|
| US launch/current reported price | $249; Amazon was reported at $249.99. Prices and stock can change. |
| Availability | TDM, Amazon and Walmart from October 6, 2026, according to launch coverage. |
| Weight | About 340g. |
| Drivers | Four 40mm drivers: two inward for headphones and two outward for speaker mode. |
| Wireless and wired connections | Bluetooth 6.0 with multipoint, USB-C charging and a 3.5mm input. |
| Controls and app | Physical controls; app-based EQ, twist behavior, firmware updates and Find My features. |
| Noise control | Passive isolation only; no active noise cancellation. |
| Battery claims | More than 200 hours in headphone mode and roughly 16 hours in speaker mode. A five-minute USB-C charge is claimed to provide up to eight hours of headphone playback; full charging is about three hours. |
| Speaker-mode battery discrepancy | TDM’s product page has also been reported to show an 8+ hour speaker figure in one location, so the speaker estimate should be treated as a conflicting manufacturer specification. |
| Battery service | Reviewers report a replaceable battery module and replaceable cushions. TDM listed a two-battery replacement kit at $29.95; The Gadgeteer reported the kit sold out on October 11, 2026. |
Why the design is more than a gimmick
- One-device sharing: You can move music from your ears to a nearby group without carrying or pairing a separate speaker.
- Dedicated driver paths: Inward- and outward-facing drivers avoid forcing one set to serve both listening geometries.
- Useful everyday hardware: Multipoint, physical buttons, a 3.5mm input and separate EQ profiles make Neo practical beyond its transformation trick.
- Potentially long runtime: The 200-plus-hour headphone claim is unusually high, though it remains a manufacturer claim rather than an independently standardized result.
- Repair path: Replaceable cushions and a battery module could extend useful life, provided replacement parts remain available.
Where Neo falls short
It is heavy and lacks ANC
At about 340g, Neo is heavier than many conventional headphones. Passive isolation is the only noise control, so commuters and frequent flyers who depend on active noise cancellation should look elsewhere.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.

The hinge still needs long-term proof
The repeated twist is central to the product, but long-term hinge durability has not been validated. TechRadar raised the possibility of wear from repeated motion, and iTechGuides described durability as untested. Treat the mechanism as a convenience feature whose reliability over years is not yet established.
Speaker mode has a narrow brief
The outward drivers are suited to personal or small-group listening nearby. Nothing in the available evidence supports calling Neo a party speaker, a large-room system or a replacement for a purpose-built portable speaker.

Replacement-part stock may be uneven
The battery module is theoretically serviceable, but the $29.95 two-battery kit was reported sold out on October 11, 2026. Serviceability is therefore a design advantage, not a guarantee that parts will always be purchasable.

Good fit
- Travelers who want headphones and occasional room sharing in one device.
- Students or hotel guests who switch between private study and sharing audio with one or two people nearby.
- Buyers who value physical controls, multipoint and a wired input.
- Owners willing to accept weight and passive isolation in exchange for the twist function.
Look elsewhere if
- Active noise cancellation is essential.
- You want the lightest possible headphones for long wear.
- You require independently measured audio performance before buying.
- You need a speaker for high-volume, room-filling playback.
- You will not tolerate uncertainty around hinge wear or replacement-part stock.
How to judge the purchase against a two-device setup
Compare the choice on four questions:
- Will you actually switch modes? If the answer is rarely, the twist mechanism adds cost and weight without solving a regular problem.
- Is convenience more important than measured performance? Neo has positive listening impressions but no controlled audio benchmark in the available coverage.
- Can you accept 340g and no ANC? Those are permanent compromises, not settings that an app can fix.
- Does serviceability matter? Replaceable parts are promising, but check current battery-kit availability before relying on that feature.
A dedicated headphone plus a small Bluetooth speaker may be a cheaper or better-performing combination, but the available sources do not provide a controlled price/performance comparison. Treat that as a shopping question to verify for your own budget rather than a measured verdict about Neo.
Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
Bottom line
TDM Neo makes a real mode change, and that can be genuinely useful when private listening and nearby sharing are both part of your routine. Its reported headphone sound is encouraging, but the evidence is listening-based rather than laboratory-based. At $249, choose Neo for its unusual convenience, multipoint connectivity and potentially serviceable battery—not because the current record proves it sounds better than dedicated headphones or a separate speaker.
