The TCL X11L is a large-screen 2026 flagship built around SQD-Mini LED, Google TV and unusually ambitious brightness and dimming claims. Independent viewing impressions are strong, but the evidence does not confirm TCL’s full color-gamut headline. At launch, its US prices ran from $6,999.99 to $9,999.99; a later TCL product-page snapshot showed a much lower promotional price for the 75-inch model, so check the live price before deciding whether its picture and size justify the premium.
What the TCL X11L is—and what it costs
TCL introduced the X11L Series at CES on January 5, 2026. It is a 4K Google TV family using the company’s SQD-Mini LED system, positioned above the related QM8L and QM7L lines. The US range comprises 75-, 85- and 98-inch models. TCL’s launch prices were US suggested retail prices, not current quotes:
| Screen size | Launch US MSRP |
|---|---|
| 75 inches | $6,999.99 |
| 85 inches | $7,999.99 |
| 98 inches | $9,999.99 |
As of October 7, 2026, TCL’s US product page displayed a $2,999.99 promotional price for the 75-inch 75X11L alongside a crossed-out $5,999.99 reference price. That differs from the January launch MSRP. It is a time-sensitive page price, not evidence of a permanent price or a price available for every size. How strong is the X11L’s picture?
Viewing impressions: vivid highlights, controlled blooming
Tom’s Guide reviewed an 85-inch sample and reported that bright scenes retained saturated color and that blooming around bright objects was barely noticeable in its viewing. The reviewer also found the built-in audio better than typical TV audio. These are useful observations from one review sample and its viewing conditions—not guarantees for every unit, room, picture mode or screen size. Read Tom’s Guide’s X11L review.

Color claims: TCL’s headline versus independent measurements
TCL says its Deep Color System combines Super Quantum Dots, a CSOT UltraColor Filter and an Advanced Color Purity Algorithm, and claims 100% BT.2020 color. That is a manufacturer claim, not a result established across independent testing. Tom’s Guide reports 91.77% Rec. 2020 coverage in its testing of the X11L, compared with 78.02% for the Sony Bravia 9 in the same review passage. Those figures are tied to Tom’s Guide’s methods and should not be read as universal ratings.
TechRadar’s separate initial measurement analysis did not reach TCL’s stated 100% BT.2020 coverage and found no meaningful improvement in DCI-P3 coverage or accuracy over the QM9K in its tests. TechRadar explicitly described the piece as an initial measurement analysis, not a full review, and noted that measurements alone do not establish blooming, shadow detail, sharpness, motion handling or overall home-viewing quality. Rec. 2020, BT.2020 and DCI-P3 are distinct color-space terms, and results depend on measurement methods and conditions; the reported percentages are not directly interchangeable. Brightness and dimming: advertised maxima, not independent test results
TCL’s current product page advertises up to 20,736 local dimming zones and up to 10,000 peak nits. Its January CES announcement rounded the zone figure to up to 20,000. These are manufacturer-stated maximum specifications, not independent measurements or performance guarantees for every model, mode or scene. TCL executive Chris Hamdorf described the set as combining OLED-like darkness with LED brightness; that is TCL’s positioning, not independent proof that it eliminates trade-offs. Game Accelerator 288 is a feature label; it does not mean every game, source or resolution runs at 288Hz. See the 85X11L specification sheet and TCL’s product page for their respective details.
How SQD-Mini LED fits against OLED and RGB LED
The X11L’s design aims to pair a Mini LED backlight and local dimming with a quantum-dot color system. The appeal is a potentially bright, saturated image with dimming control intended to limit the glow around bright objects on dark backgrounds. Tom’s Guide’s viewing notes support that promise for its sample, but the conflicting color-gamut evidence means TCL’s 100% BT.2020 claim should not be treated as a settled real-world advantage.

- 4K UltraHD QLED color: Quantum Dot technology delivers over a billion vibrant, true-to-life shades in every scene
- HDR PRO+: Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10 & HLG for enhanced contrast, accurate color, and fine detail across every format
- Dolby Atmos + DTS:X: Full spatial audio support across both major formats - Dolby Atmos and DTS:X/DTS Virtual:X - for broader soundbar and content compatibility
- Auto Game Mode (ALLM) + Game Bar: Automatic low-latency switching plus an on-screen overlay to fine-tune settings without leaving the game
- Motion Rate 240 with MEMC: Best-in-class motion clarity for fast sports and action, double the motion rating of typical competing QLEDs, for an ultra-crisp, blur-free picture
OLED, RGB LED and SQD-Mini LED describe different display approaches; the available evidence here does not provide a controlled, same-lab comparison of all three. TechRadar’s article discusses measurements in the wider display context, but cautions that those measurements cannot settle motion, shadow detail or overall viewing. Choose based on independent tests under comparable conditions and the specific trade-offs you care about—not the technology label or peak-nit claim alone.
Should you buy the X11L or consider a QM8L or QM7L?
The X11L’s flagship positioning and launch prices make TCL’s QM8L and QM7L relevant alternatives. TCL also identifies those lines as SQD-Mini LED sets, but shared backlight branding does not establish equivalent hardware, performance or configuration. TCL’s expanded lineup announcement names the ranges; it does not substitute for same-size, same-method testing. TCL’s SQD-Mini LED lineup announcement.

Compare the exact screen size and current transaction price, then look for independent tests that report brightness under stated conditions, coverage in the same color space, gaming refresh and variable-refresh support, HDR formats and audio. A cheaper line may be the better value if its tested picture meets your needs; the available evidence does not establish that the X11L’s premium buys a specific performance gap over those models.
Fit, stand and installation considerations
Choose among 75, 85 and 98 inches with room dimensions, seating distance and delivery access in mind. Tom’s Guide says the reviewed 85-inch model’s feet are widely spaced and need a large stand. It reports a 600 × 400 VESA pattern for that unit; verify the precise hole pattern and weight for the size you buy. Before wall mounting, check the mount’s rated load, the wall structure and the mount maker’s installation instructions. The available product information does not establish long-term reliability, warranty-service outcomes, global pricing or current inventory across retailers.
