The television identified as the “favorite budget Mini-LED TV” is the TCL QM6K, a 2025 model. The notable price attached to it—$499.99 for the 55-inch version—was a Best Buy offer reported on August 27, 2026, not a verified current price. If you’re considering one now, confirm the live price and listing details, and compare it with TCL’s 2026 budget successor, the QM6L.
Which TV does “favorite budget Mini-LED TV” refer to?
It refers to the TCL QM6K. TechRadar used that description in an August 27, 2026 deal article, while Tom’s Guide identifies the QM6K as TCL’s 2025 budget Mini-LED model. The phrase is the publication’s editorial judgment, not the result of a measured ranking or a guarantee that it is the best choice for every buyer.
Tom’s Guide’s January 7, 2026 TCL lineup coverage says the QM6L takes over the budget slot for 2026. That makes the QM6K an older-generation option to weigh against its successor, especially if both are available in the screen size you want.

TechRadar reported that Best Buy offered the 55-inch TCL QM6K for $499.99 on August 27, 2026, against a stated former price of $799.99. The same article said similar discounts applied to 65-, 75-, and 85-inch versions. Those are dated U.S. deal details, not a current price check; they do not establish today’s price, stock, seller, or availability in other countries.

What features are reported—and what needs verification?
TechRadar’s deal coverage advertises Dolby Vision IQ and Dolby Atmos support. It also gives conflicting refresh-rate information: the article prose says 144Hz at 4K, while its deal box says 120Hz at 4K. Without a model-specific authoritative specification to settle that discrepancy, neither figure should be treated as a confirmed maximum.

If refresh rate matters for a console or PC, verify the exact QM6K size and regional model’s specifications before purchase. Check supported refresh rates at the resolution you plan to use and the available gaming inputs; a headline refresh-rate number alone does not establish that every input or mode supports it.
How to decide between the QM6K and QM6L
The available coverage establishes the QM6K’s identity and its successor positioning, but not an apples-to-apples picture-quality comparison. It does not establish measured brightness, contrast, blooming, or input lag, and it does not show that either model is currently the better value.

- Compare prices at the same screen size rather than comparing a discounted smaller QM6K with a larger QM6L.
- Check which screen sizes are actually listed for each model at the retailer you plan to use.
- Verify refresh-rate and gaming-input details against model-specific specifications if gaming is a priority.
- Compare HDR and audio support for the exact versions on sale.
- Look for independent measurements of brightness, contrast, blooming, and input lag before treating one as a performance upgrade.
TechRadar’s historical deal article lists QM6K sizes of 55, 65, 75, and 85 inches. It does not establish current inventory or a current price for any size. Tom’s Guide’s lineup report establishes the QM6L’s successor role, but the cited coverage does not provide a direct performance comparison with the QM6K.
