How many HDMI ports does the TCL P8L have?
There is no single port count established for every P8L variant. TCL India’s family page identifies HDMI 1 and HDMI 2 as the inputs that support its 288 VRR Game Accelerator, but it does not establish a complete port map for every size. European retailer listings for the 55P8L and 65P8L state four HDMI inputs and one USB 3.0 port. Those listings are regional details, not proof that every P8L has the same number, layout or bandwidth.

“4K1K” in the Canadian specification is distinct from “4K2K”: the former represents the reduced vertical-resolution mode used for the 288Hz ceiling, while the latter is the full 4K mode listed at up to 144Hz. Do not select a 288Hz output in a PC driver and assume the TV is receiving full 3840×2160. The source, cable, HDMI input and TV setting all have to support the selected mode.

What refresh rate should a console or PC owner choose?
- For a 4K console output, target 4K at up to 120Hz or 144Hz only if the console, game and exact P8L variant expose that option.
- For a PC, use the display control panel to confirm the actual negotiated resolution and refresh rate. A 288Hz option may require the 4K1K mode rather than full 4K.
- Enable VRR on both the source and television. If the image blanks, falls back to 60Hz or loses HDR, reduce the refresh rate first, then test another HDMI input and cable.
Which HDR formats does the TCL P8L support?
The clearest format list in the available specifications is for the Canadian 98P8L listing: Dolby Vision IQ, Dolby Vision gaming, HDR10+, HDR and HLG. TCL says smart features require a Google Account, a free TCL Account and reliable broadband. A television can still display HDMI sources without those accounts, but setup, app installation, recommendations, voice-related services and cloud-connected features may be limited until sign-in and internet access are completed.

Even when two televisions share the P8L name, do not assume the same VESA pattern, input arrangement, eARC socket or firmware. The European listings show different VESA measurements between the 55-inch and 65-inch versions, but the cited material does not provide a universal family pattern or the actual measurements. An expected app or service is unavailable
Google TV catalogs are regional. Check the country selected during setup, update the television software and confirm that the service officially operates in your market. Changing regions can affect other apps and account behavior, so it is not a universal fix.
