The TCL P80 Ultra pairs a high-spec AMOLED screen with NXTPAPER viewing modes designed for more comfortable reading. It is still a conventional smartphone display—not e-ink—and the screen is only part of the package: TCL also equips the Ultra with a 3× periscope camera, a 5800mAh battery and up to 512GB of storage.
What makes the P80 Ultra’s NXTPAPER display different?
The distinction is the combination of an AMOLED panel and software modes built around reading and visual comfort. TCL says NXTPAPER features reduce reflections and limit blue-light exposure, with adaptive brightness and color temperature. Paper Mode offers adjustable paper-like tones; Max Ink switches to a monochrome, distraction-reducing layout intended for focused reading. A dedicated NXTPAPER Key gives users direct access to the feature.
That does not turn the screen into electronic paper. TCL specifies a 6.83-inch, 2772 × 1280 AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, up to 3200 nits peak brightness and up to 100% DCI-P3 color gamut. It is designed to handle ordinary smartphone uses—such as video, color-rich apps and scrolling—as well as reading modes.

Is the screen proven to prevent eye strain?
No clinical evidence in the cited material establishes that the P80 Ultra prevents or treats eyestrain. TCL describes design features intended to reduce reflections and blue-light exposure, but those manufacturer claims are not proof of a health outcome. The independent report offers one reviewer’s impressions of the screen, not a clinical trial. It is reasonable to describe the display as designed with visual comfort in mind; it would overstate the evidence to call it clinically proven to protect eyesight.
TCL’s March 2026 NXTPAPER announcement gives technology-level figures, including a claimed 15% blue-light reduction compared with NXTPAPER 4.0 and circular polarization reaching 90% of natural light. Those are TCL claims about the technology, not independent measurements, and the cited information does not establish that those exact figures apply to the P80 Ultra’s implementation. How the P80 Ultra compares with the P80 Pro and P80
The Ultra’s clearest hardware distinction from the P80 Pro is its periscope telephoto camera. Both models have NXTPAPER AMOLED screens and 5800mAh batteries; the standard P80 has an AMOLED display but does not include NXTPAPER technology or the dedicated key.

These are manufacturer specifications, not results from independent comparative lab testing. Compare the models on whether you want NXTPAPER reading modes, the Ultra’s optical telephoto capability, storage capacity and the price available in your market. TCL’s P80 series announcement lists the series specifications.

What else does the P80 Ultra offer?
TCL positions the Ultra as a premium all-round phone rather than a reading device with basic smartphone hardware. Its listed platform is the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Elite, with 8GB RAM and up to 16GB of storage-based RAM expansion. Storage is available up to 512GB. The rear camera array consists of a 50MP main camera, a 50MP 3× periscope telephoto with optical and electronic image stabilization, and an 8MP ultra-wide camera; the front camera is 32MP.
The battery is rated at 5800mAh, and wired charging is specified at up to 45W with a compatible charger. The maximum charging rate should not be assumed for every adapter. TCL’s P80 Ultra product page provides its global product specifications.

Where is the P80 Ultra available, and what is in the box?
TCL announced EU availability beginning September 3, 2026, in 256GB and 512GB configurations, each with 8GB RAM. For the EU package, TCL lists the handset, a cable and a TPU case; a power adapter is not included. Availability and package contents can differ outside the EU, so check the local listing for the exact storage version, included accessories and price before buying.
