Tata Technologies’ consolidated net profit increased 3.59% year on year to Rs 171.44 crore in Q2 FY27, while operating revenue grew 28.4% to Rs 1,698.8 crore. Services revenue grew faster still, rising about 33.9% to Rs 1,355.7 crore. The September-quarter results were reported on October 14, 2026.

What Tata Technologies reported for Q2 FY27

The quarter ended September 30, 2026, was Tata Technologies’ second quarter of fiscal 2027. Consolidated net profit reached Rs 171.44 crore, compared with Rs 165.50 crore in the same quarter a year earlier. That is a 3.59% year-on-year increase, commonly rounded in headlines to 4% and Rs 171 crore.

Consolidated operating revenue was Rs 1,698.8 crore, up 28.4% from approximately Rs 1,323.3 crore a year earlier. Revenue therefore expanded much faster than reported profit.

The services comparison uses the approximately 33.9% year-on-year growth reported for the segment; the prior-year services amount is shown as an implied calculation rather than a separately stated company figure.

#1 Best Overall

Why profit grew far less than revenue

The central feature of the quarter is the wide spread between top-line and bottom-line growth: revenue rose 28.4%, but net profit rose only 3.59%. In practical terms, Tata Technologies generated substantially more operating revenue than it did a year earlier without producing a proportional increase in consolidated earnings.

The available results reports do not identify a specific cost line, margin movement or one-time item that explains this difference. It would therefore be misleading to assign the gap to employee costs, pricing, currency, acquisitions or another individual factor without a company disclosure supporting that conclusion. The confirmed takeaway is the relationship between the two reported growth rates, not a definitive cause.

Services revenue outpaced the company total

Services revenue was about Rs 1,355.7 crore in Q2 FY27, an increase of roughly 33.9% from the year-earlier quarter. That growth rate was higher than the 28.4% increase in consolidated operating revenue, indicating that services was a stronger year-on-year growth contributor than the overall business.

Services revenue accounted for approximately 80% of the quarter’s operating revenue, based on the reported Rs 1,355.7 crore services figure and Rs 1,698.8 crore total. Because no complete segment bridge or profitability split was published, the services figure should be read as a revenue-growth indicator rather than evidence of segment-level profit performance.

Sequential performance: revenue rose, profit fell

Compared with the June 2026 quarter, the September-quarter trend was mixed. Net profit declined 5.15% from Rs 180.75 crore, while revenue increased 2.05% from Rs 1,664.63 crore.

Measure Q2 FY27 Q1 FY27 Quarter-on-quarter change
Net profit Rs 171.44 crore Rs 180.75 crore Down 5.15%
Operating revenue Rs 1,698.8 crore Rs 1,664.63 crore Up 2.05%

This sequential result adds a second qualification to the headline: the company delivered year-on-year growth in both revenue and profit, but profit did not maintain the previous quarter’s level even as revenue edged higher.

How to read the headline figures

  • “Profit rises 4%” is a rounded description of Rs 171.44 crore versus Rs 165.50 crore, or 3.59% year-on-year growth.
  • “Revenue jumps 28%” refers to consolidated operating revenue of Rs 1,698.8 crore, up 28.4% from about Rs 1,323.3 crore.
  • “Services grows 34%” refers to approximately Rs 1,355.7 crore of services revenue, up roughly 33.9% year on year.
  • Year-on-year and sequential changes are different: the former compares with Q2 FY26, while the latter compares with Q1 FY27.

Bottom line for readers

Tata Technologies’ Q2 FY27 results show strong expansion in revenue, led by services, but only modest year-on-year earnings growth. The company’s Rs 171.44 crore profit was 3.59% above the year-earlier figure and 5.15% below the preceding quarter’s Rs 180.75 crore. With no disclosed cost or margin explanation in the available reports, the results establish a clear growth gap but not its precise cause.
