The clearest permanent cutoff in Tales of Eternia Remastered is the six-part Katrine/Pierre event chain. Finish all six encounters before the party crosses Mt. Farlos, make a manual save immediately before that transition, and, after returning from Celestia, visit the second floor of Inferia City’s Royal Observatory. That final visit awards Farah a title; guides render the name as either Cupid or Love Negotiator, depending on localization.
This is a safety checklist, not a claim that the six meetings are the game’s complete missables inventory. No remaster-specific source has published an authoritative total covering every chest, recipe, title, monster-book entry, or short NPC scene. The confirmed chain is therefore separated below from documented examples and precautionary sweeps.
The point of no return: crossing Mt. Farlos
Treat the transition over Mt. Farlos as the hard gate for the Katrine/Pierre storyline. The documented route requires all six Inferia encounters before the crossing. If one is missing when the party leaves, do not assume a later visit, a cleared story chapter, or New Game+ will restore the flag.

What to do at the gate
- Open your notes or the checklist table below and verify all six Katrine/Pierre entries.
- Finish any uncompleted encounter before initiating the Mt. Farlos crossing.
- Create a manual save in a separate slot immediately before the transition.
- After the story sends the party back from Celestia, go to Inferia City’s Royal Observatory, second floor, to trigger the resolution.
The separate pre-crossing save is important because the final Observatory scene is conditional on the earlier flags. A rotating set of manual saves gives you a way to test an optional route without overwriting the last known-complete state.

Triggering the final Royal Observatory event
Once the party has returned from Celestia, travel to Inferia City’s Royal Observatory, second floor. This is a separate event from the six conversations, so visiting the Observatory before the return will not substitute for the required chain.

RPG Site author Adam Vitale, writing on 17 October 2026, describes the condition explicitly: if all six Katrine subevents in Inferia were seen before heading to Celestia, the Royal Observatory 2F event gives Farah Title: Cupid. GeekChamp’s wording renders the same concluding reward as Love Negotiator. Preserve both names when comparing guides; they appear to be localization variants rather than two different rewards.
Use Destination Icons as a sweep tool
Before hunting optional content, open Menu > Custom > Destination Icons and enable every icon. The icons organize your next checks, but they are not a complete database of permanent missables.
- Yellow destination icon: identifies the current main objective. Finish optional conversations before following it through a story transition.
- Star: marks a location containing a valuable item. Visit the location before leaving the area or activating a major transition. A star is a location checklist, not proof of a particular item name or proof that the item becomes permanently locked at that exact moment.
- Hourglass: marks a limited-availability event, including some title or item scenes. Prioritize these over ordinary exploration.
- Blue exclamation mark: marks an event that teaches a new arte. Investigate it before leaving the region.
An NPC or room without a marker can still contain a unique conversation. For that reason, use icons to set priorities, then perform a physical sweep of shops, inns, docks, libraries, guilds, and other named interiors before a story departure.

A practical completionist routine for every region
1. Mark the story gate before you enter it
When the yellow objective points toward a new route, town exit, ship, dungeon, or major cutscene, pause before crossing. Check for hourglass and star icons, then revisit named interiors that have not been inspected.
2. Finish limited events before valuable-item cleanup
Handle hourglass events first because their availability is explicitly limited. Then collect star-marked valuables. The star tells you where to look; it does not identify the item’s name, rarity, or exact lockout condition.

3. Inspect arte-learning prompts
Blue exclamation marks can represent an arte-learning event rather than a battle or item. Investigate before leaving the region, and record the result in your own checklist so you do not mistake an already-seen icon for a permanent miss.
4. Use rotating manual saves
Keep a current exploration save, a save immediately before the next story transition, and a protected milestone save after a known chain is complete. Do not overwrite the protected slot simply because the game permits a later manual save.

5. Verify the six-chain gate separately
Do not rely solely on the map icons for Katrine/Pierre. Confirm all six rows in the dedicated table, then create the pre-Mt. Farlos save. This explicit verification is stronger than assuming the game has shown every event marker.

What New Game+ and repeatable content can—and cannot—solve
Published walkthroughs distinguish repeatable Coliseum battles and later-playthrough difficulty options from one-time story conversations. Those repeatable systems are useful for challenge goals, but they do not prove that a missed NPC flag, title condition, or item route will be restored.
Use a second run for difficulty or Coliseum objectives, not as a substitute for first-run preservation. No source establishes that New Game+ automatically reopens every missed event, so treat one-time scenes and titles as unrecoverable until a specific guide documents a reset or replay method.
Printable pre-Mt. Farlos checklist
- Destination Icons are enabled in Menu > Custom > Destination Icons.
- Mintche exercise-field opening scene is complete.
- Morle food-shop directions conversation is complete.
- Inferia Harbor dining-area conversation after the Forest of Temptation is complete.

As of the dated guides from 16–17 October 2026, this is the strongest evidence-backed way to protect the known permanent content without inventing a total missables count. The six Katrine/Pierre encounters are confirmed; the wider game still requires marker-first exploration and disciplined saves because no authoritative remaster-wide checklist has been published.
