Short answer: Synth Riders does not submit leaderboard scores made in offline mode. A score that appears to vanish may still exist online if only your device’s local statistics were reset, or it may be hidden because you are viewing the Modified board instead of Combined. Custom-map edits also create separate leaderboard identities. Multiplayer is cross-platform among supported Steam, Oculus Rift, and Oculus Quest versions, while the public official material does not describe the game’s anti-cheat algorithms.
Use the checks below to distinguish a local-data problem, a leaderboard-view problem, a map mismatch, a failed submission, or a platform/build synchronization issue.
How Synth Riders stores scores
There are two different kinds of score information in Synth Riders:
- Local statistics: data kept on the headset or computer, such as play counts and the best-score display shown in parts of the game’s center panel.
- Online leaderboard entries: scores submitted to the game service and associated with a song map, modifier state, mode, difficulty, and the relevant leaderboard view.
Those stores are not interchangeable. A 2023 troubleshooting explanation states that local score and play-count data is stored on the device separately from network leaderboard data. Uninstalling and reinstalling the game, restoring a device, or overwriting local data can therefore clear local displays without resetting a score that was already sent to the network leaderboard.

Conversely, a run that never reached the online service cannot be recovered merely by restoring local files. The game has to submit the result while the service connection and the applicable leaderboard are available.
Do offline Synth Riders scores save?
No. The official Synth Riders release notes state: “In this mode, scores will not be saved or submitted.” Offline play lets you practice, but it is not an alternative way to build an online ranking.
What to do after an offline session
- Exit offline mode and restore a normal connection before starting a run you want ranked.
- Confirm that the game has returned to its connected online state; do not rely only on your device showing an internet connection.
- Play the song again while connected and finish the result screen normally so the service has an opportunity to accept the score.
- Check the correct leaderboard after the submission completes.
The official offline wording does not promise a retroactive upload of a run made while disconnected. Reconnecting later should not be treated as proof that an earlier offline result will be uploaded automatically.
Why an offline score may look like it was recorded
During play, the game can still show a result, and local interface elements may update temporarily. That visual feedback is not evidence that the score was submitted. The decisive distinction is whether the run was eligible to contact the online service at completion.

Why did my high score or play count disappear?
First identify which display disappeared. A missing center-panel best score or a reset play count points toward local data. A missing entry on a public leaderboard requires checking the board, map, connection, and platform state separately.
Case 1: local data was removed or overwritten
Uninstalling and reinstalling Synth Riders, restoring a headset or computer, or replacing its local save can remove device-held play counts and local best-score panels. According to the 2023 troubleshooting explanation, that process can overwrite local data without resetting network leaderboard scores. Sign back into the same game account and inspect the online board for the song rather than using the center-panel value as the only record.
Case 2: you are viewing Modified instead of Combined
The official release notes define two views:
- Combined: all scores, regardless of modifiers.
- Modified: only scores made with the modifiers currently selected.
A score made with no modifier can disappear from the screen when a modifier is selected and the view is set to Modified. Switch to Combined, clear or match the modifier selection, and then compare the result again. The entry was not necessarily deleted; it may simply be excluded by the current filter.
Case 3: the run was never submitted
An offline run is explicitly not saved or submitted. A connected run can also fail to appear if the service connection is lost or the submission does not complete. If the result is absent from both the expected Combined board and the matching Modified board, replay while connected and watch for a normal completion rather than assuming the earlier attempt can be restored.

Case 4: the custom map changed
Leaderboard identity follows the song’s map. Official notes say that changing a custom map creates a new leaderboard. Editing chart data, timing, or other map content can therefore move a song to a different board even when its title looks familiar. Check whether you are using the original map or an edited version, and compare the map identity before concluding that an old score vanished.
Combined, Modified, and community leaderboard filters
Leaderboard screens can apply more than one filter at once. In the game, the most important distinction is whether the board is Combined or Modified. Community Synthriderz pages also expose Official and Any views, with mode and difficulty filters. Those labels describe different sets of results, so two screens can legitimately show different rankings for what appears to be the same song.
A reliable viewing sequence
- Select the exact song and confirm its map identity.
- Set the difficulty and game mode to the values used for the run.
- Choose Combined first to include scores regardless of modifiers.
- If you need a modifier-specific comparison, switch to Modified and select the same modifiers used during the run.
- When using a community board, verify whether it is showing Official or Any content and whether its mode and difficulty filters match the in-game settings.
Do not compare a local center-panel score, a Modified in-game board, and an Any community view as though they were one database. They answer different questions.

Official notes also state that scores from multiplayer lobbies are saved into unified leaderboards. A lobby result can therefore contribute to a shared board rather than a platform-isolated ranking, subject to the song map, mode, difficulty, and modifier rules that apply to that board.
What cross-platform support does not guarantee
Cross-platform compatibility does not mean every release, headset, custom map, or software build will synchronize identically at all times. Platform support and synchronization can change with updates. A 2026 patch archive records fixes for multiplayer synchronization and platform player-level updates, which shows that version-specific synchronization issues are real maintenance targets.
PlayStation’s current listing for Synth Riders on PS VR2 describes global leaderboards and ten-player online multiplayer. That listing confirms those features for the PS VR2 product, but it should not be read as a promise that every custom-map or account scenario behaves exactly like the Steam, Oculus Rift, or Oculus Quest paths.

Cross-platform troubleshooting
- Make sure every player is on a game version that supports the same multiplayer service behavior.
- Use the same song map, mode, and difficulty when comparing results.
- Check whether one player is looking at a Modified board while another is viewing Combined.
- If lobby results or player levels fail to synchronize, update the game and retry after a clean connection; the 2026 patch archive specifically documents synchronization-related fixes.
How map identity changes leaderboard results
A leaderboard is attached to a map, not merely to the displayed song name. This matters most for custom songs. If a creator edits a custom map, the edited chart can receive a new leaderboard. Scores earned on the earlier map remain associated with that earlier identity rather than automatically merging into the revised chart.

When investigating a missing custom-song score, record the map version or source, not just the song title. Reopen the exact map used for the run, then apply the same mode, difficulty, and modifier filters. If the map was replaced or edited, search for the earlier map instead of expecting one continuous ranking.
What is publicly known about Synth Riders anti-cheat?
The public official material located for this topic documents submission rules and leaderboard organization, not the technical anti-cheat implementation. It explains that offline scores are not saved or submitted, that Combined and Modified boards separate result sets, that map changes create new leaderboards, and that multiplayer-lobby scores enter unified leaderboards.
Those rules show that leaderboard validity is controlled by the online service and its board configuration. They do not establish a particular detector, algorithm, score threshold, automated removal rule, or appeal workflow. Do not assume that an unusual score was removed by a known algorithm, and do not treat a missing entry as proof of a ban or deletion without an official case-specific statement.

How to describe a suspicious or missing score accurately
- Verify the map, mode, difficulty, and modifier view.
- Check Combined as well as Modified.
- Confirm that the run was connected and had a chance to submit.
- Compare the same account and platform build after updating.
- Only then report the discrepancy through the game’s current support channel, supplying the song/map identity and the conditions of the run.
Because no public technical specification was found, any claim about exact detection methods or a guaranteed removal-and-appeal process would go beyond the documented evidence.
