Short answer: Sword Hero is an unreleased open-world RPG planned for Windows PC through Steam. It is built around demanding, skill-based combat in a non-level-scaling world, has no documented difficulty selector, and is planned as a single-player game without online multiplayer. Split-screen co-op is only a possible stretch-goal feature. Save/load already works in an early form and Steam Cloud is listed, but the developer has not published the rules for slots, autosaves, synchronization, or transferring saves between devices.
What platforms is Sword Hero on?
The documented launch target is Windows PC through Steam. The Steam listing identifies the project as an Action, Indie and RPG title from ForestWare and publisher Crytivo. The official site describes it as an “Open World RPG” set in a “Low-Poly Dark Fantasy World” and directs visitors to Steam for wishlisting.
That is a target platform, not confirmation of a released product. Steam currently gives the release date as “To be announced”, and the game remains in development. There is no announced macOS or Linux version in the available product information, so those operating systems should not be treated as supported launch platforms.
The world is intended to be seamless, with no invisible walls and with natural obstacles shaping where you can go. Those design goals are part of the PC version described by the developer; they do not imply that a console edition exists.

Is Sword Hero out yet?
No. The finished Steam release is not available, and no public launch date has been committed to. A store page, an alpha roadmap and a project website are active, but those materials describe a game still being built rather than a completed commercial release.
That distinction matters when you evaluate every other feature. System requirements can change while optimization continues, save behavior is still being refined, and a feature shown on the store page may not have its final implementation until release. A wishlist entry or a visible store listing is therefore not a promise that you can download the finished game today.
What are the published PC requirements and Steam features?
Only part of the hardware specification has been published. Windows 10 is the listed minimum operating system. Memory requirements are stated as 4 GB minimum and 8 GB recommended. The Steam page does not yet state a processor model or graphics-card requirement, so there is no reliable CPU or GPU buying specification to use.
Recommended Free Tools
| Item | Published information | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 minimum | A Windows PC meeting the listed OS target is the documented baseline. |
| Memory | 4 GB minimum; 8 GB recommended | These are the figures shown by Steam, not a guarantee of final performance. |
| Processor | Not stated | Wait for an official CPU requirement before judging an older machine. |
| Graphics | Not stated | No supported GPU tier or performance target has been published. |
Steam also lists full controller support, Steam Achievements, Steam Workshop, Steam Cloud, Steam Leaderboards and Family Sharing. These labels describe services attached to the Steam listing; they do not provide details such as achievement counts, workshop moderation, leaderboard rules or cloud-sync timing.

Is Sword Hero hard?
Expect a demanding opening rather than a game that quietly adjusts every fight to your current level. The official description presents deliberate, skill-based combat and warns that the wilderness is “unkind to the unprepared.” Enemies do not scale to the player’s level. A creature that overwhelms a new character can become manageable after you learn its attacks, improve your equipment and develop the character.
The non-scaling model creates a different difficulty curve from a typical level-scaled RPG. Progress does not guarantee that every nearby enemy will remain an even match. Exploration itself is a risk assessment: an apparently reachable area may contain opponents intended for a stronger build, while a route that was dangerous at the beginning can become a useful training ground later.
The store description also gives an unusual progression detail: enemies that defeat you early may later run from a stronger character. That suggests the world can communicate your growth through enemy behavior instead of only through numbers on a level screen. It does not mean every enemy will flee, and no exact thresholds or enemy categories have been published.

Is there an Easy, Normal or Hard mode?
No formal difficulty-mode list is documented. The available pages do not promise Easy, Normal, Hard or an accessibility preset, so do not assume a menu will let you reduce enemy damage or increase your character’s power. The intended challenge appears to come from combat execution, preparation, equipment and choosing where to travel.

How should a new player approach the difficulty?
- Learn before committing. Treat the first encounters as opportunities to read attack timing, spacing and recovery windows rather than as contests of raw statistics.
- Retreat when the world signals danger. Because enemies do not level-match you, leaving an area is part of progression, not a failure of the game’s balance.
- Use preparation as progression. Training, equipment and character growth are the factors the description associates with turning an early threat into a manageable one.
- Revisit old routes. A previously overwhelming enemy may no longer be able to stop you, and the game’s stated enemy behavior can make that change visible.
- Do not plan around a difficulty slider. Until a later build documents one, assume the core rules are shared by all players.
Does Sword Hero have multiplayer or co-op?
There is no online multiplayer in the current plan. The developer’s FAQ answers the question directly: “No, since I’m a solo dev, attempting something like online features would be a tremendous risk for the entire project.” The same response says the goal is “a complete, solid single-player experience.” Steam likewise labels the game as single-player.
That means you should not expect online co-op, competitive modes, matchmaking, cross-play or a networked shared world. Those are separate technical commitments from controller support or Steam Workshop, neither of which changes the project’s stated multiplayer scope.
| Mode | Current status | What is safe to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Single-player | Confirmed direction | The primary experience is designed for one player. |
| Online co-op or competitive multiplayer | Not planned | No matchmaking, servers or online party system has been announced. |
| Split-screen co-op | Possible stretch goal only | It may be considered if future stretch goals make it feasible; it is not a launch promise. |
| Cross-play | Not documented | There is no announced online mode for cross-platform play to connect. |
Does Sword Hero have cloud saves?
Steam Cloud is listed as a feature, so the project is targeting cloud-backed save support on Steam. However, the alpha roadmap makes clear that the underlying save system is not final: “Saving/Loading is already mostly possible, however the process needs some unbloating, and refinement as I’ll be adding other new features.”

What Steam Cloud does and does not tell you
A Steam Cloud label normally signals that a Steam title can synchronize designated files, but the listing alone does not document this game’s exact file set or conflict behavior. The available information does not say whether cloud restoration works after reinstalling Windows, how conflicts are presented, or whether a save made on one PC will be usable on another PC logged into the same account.
Cross-platform transfer is also unknown. Steam Cloud should not be interpreted as a promise that a future console version, another storefront or a different operating system will share saves. No such transfer path has been announced.
Practical precautions during development
- Assume save behavior can change between alpha builds and release.
- Keep local backups if you are testing an early build and progress would be difficult to recreate.
- Before switching computers, verify that Steam has finished synchronizing rather than assuming the latest session is already online.
- Look for a future developer explanation of save slots, manual versus automatic saving, conflict resolution and migration before relying on cloud storage as your only copy.
Can you play Sword Hero on a console?
No console version has been announced in the documented platform information. The supported target that has been published is Windows PC through Steam, so PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo hardware should be treated as unconfirmed rather than assumed ports.
There is also no basis for promising cross-save or cross-play. Those features require platform-specific support in addition to the base game, and the current project information does not describe them. If a console edition is announced later, its release timing, feature parity and save-transfer rules would need separate confirmation.

Does Sword Hero support a controller?
Yes. Steam lists full controller support, and the roadmap says controllers are supported with Xbox and PlayStation button icons. An Xbox-compatible PC controller or another supported gamepad is therefore an optional way to play, not a requirement. The published information does not say that keyboard and mouse controls are unavailable, nor does it provide a complete button-remapping list.
Because the combat is described as deliberate and skill-based, players should choose the input method that gives them the most reliable control over timing and movement. The controller-support label confirms compatibility; it does not specify whether every menu, workshop action or future feature will expose identical layouts across devices.
How should you evaluate the game before release?
With no release date and incomplete technical specifications, a careful PC check is more useful than guessing from the genre label. Use this checklist when a new build or launch announcement appears:
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
- Confirm the platform listing. Verify that the current Steam page still identifies Windows as the target and check whether a release date has replaced “To be announced.”
- Recheck requirements. Compare your Windows version and installed memory with the latest minimum and recommended figures. Do not make a graphics-card decision until the developer publishes one.
- Read the build notes. Early versions can change save behavior, controls and performance. A roadmap statement is not the same as final documentation.
- Decide whether the single-player design fits. If online parties or competitive play are essential to you, the current plan does not provide them.
- Plan for exploratory difficulty. Non-level-scaling enemies favor cautious routes, learning and equipment upgrades over rushing through every region.
- Check cloud status after installation. Steam Cloud is listed, but confirm synchronization behavior in the released build before deleting local files or changing computers.
How does Sword Hero compare with other RPGs?
Use the following comparison axes rather than assuming that every open-world RPG offers the same structure. They capture the decisions most likely to affect whether this game suits you.
| Comparison point | Sword Hero’s documented position | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Platform availability | Windows PC through Steam | Players on consoles or other desktop operating systems need a separate platform announcement. |
| Release status | In development; date to be announced | Features and requirements can change before a finished release. |
| Combat difficulty | Deliberate combat; demanding wilderness; non-level-scaling enemies | Preparation and player skill matter, and some areas may be unsafe early. |
| Difficulty settings | No documented selector | Do not expect Easy, Normal or Hard modes unless the developer adds them. |
| Multiplayer | Single-player; no online multiplayer planned | There is no announced co-op, competitive mode or cross-play. |
| Co-op possibility | Split-screen only as a possible stretch goal | It is not a confirmed feature to purchase the game for. |
| Saving | Save/load mostly works but is being refined; Steam Cloud listed | Exact slot, autosave and transfer behavior remains unspecified. |
| Input | Full controller support listed | A gamepad is optional, with Xbox and PlayStation icons supported. |
Bottom line
Sword Hero is best understood as a forthcoming Windows Steam RPG for players who enjoy uncompromising exploration and deliberate combat, not as a released multi-platform co-op game. Its single-player focus and non-level-scaling world are established design choices. The release date, final hardware requirements, detailed save rules and any console plans remain open, so treat Steam Cloud and other listed features as targets whose exact behavior should be checked again when the finished build arrives.
