Super Trouper is a local MCP server that makes documented Frida workflows available to coding agents as tools. It is a bridge to Frida—not a replacement for the instrumentation toolkit—and its listed device and process operations are not limited to iOS. The project documents several installation routes, but does not publish a device, operating-system, or MCP-client compatibility matrix.
What is Super Trouper?
The @crissyfield/super-trouper package listing describes it as “An MCP server for the Frida reverse engineering toolkit.” It runs over standard input and output (stdio) and exposes Frida capabilities as tools an MCP-compatible coding agent can call.
Frida itself is the dynamic instrumentation toolkit. The Frida project’s README calls it a “Dynamic instrumentation toolkit for developers, reverse-engineers, and security researchers.” Super Trouper adds an MCP interface to Frida workflows; it does not replace Frida or independently establish that a particular workflow will work with every device or client.
The 0.4.0 package listing describes Super Trouper as a single Go binary powered by Frida 17.x and statically linked against Frida Core DevKit v17.19.0. Those version details apply to the listed release and may change in later releases.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
What Frida tools does Super Trouper expose for iOS app reverse engineering?
The package documentation lists tools across device access, process control, inspection, and instrumentation. Although the title calls out iOS app reverse engineering, the documented operations are general Frida device and process workflows; the listing does not establish that every feature is iOS-specific.
| Workflow | Documented capabilities |
|---|---|
| Device access | Discover devices and connect to local, USB, or remote devices. |
| Applications and processes | List and look up applications and processes; spawn, resume, or kill processes. |
| Sessions | Attach to and detach from processes, and evaluate code in a session. |
| Inspection | Read or write up to 4096 bytes of memory; inspect modules and threads. |
| Instrumentation | Create, load, unload, and close scripts; exchange script messages. The documentation mentions TypeScript and JavaScript instrumentation. |
| Additional Frida functions | List bridges, report the Frida version, access API documentation links, and search for or retrieve Frida CodeShare content. |
This is an inventory of capabilities described by the project, not an independent test of each tool. The package listing does not specify an iOS compatibility matrix, required device state, or exact MCP-client compatibility guarantees. Check the release instructions and confirm that your host, device, Frida setup, and client suit the workflow you intend to use.

How do I use Frida with an MCP client?
At a high level, the MCP client starts or connects to the Super Trouper stdio server, then presents its documented Frida operations as callable tools. You can ask the client to perform a supported workflow—such as discovering a device, inspecting processes, attaching to a target, or managing an instrumentation script—subject to the tools and access available in your setup.

- Configure the MCP client to launch Super Trouper over stdio. Use the project’s release instructions for the exact configuration and command for your chosen distribution. The package listing does not establish one universal client configuration or compatibility guarantee.
- Connect to an available Frida device. The documented options include local, USB, and remote connections. Confirm the target is reachable from the host and supported by your own setup.
- Call only the tools needed for the task. For example, use the documented process and session operations before loading a script; use memory operations only when the workflow requires them.
Frida’s official repository README provides context about Frida and documents prebuilt binaries and source builds. It is not a compatibility guarantee for Super Trouper or a particular MCP client.

How do I install Super Trouper?
The project documents five paths. The listing establishes their availability, but does not compare installation speed, performance, or suitability for every environment.
| Route | Consider it when | What the documentation establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Homebrew | You already use Homebrew and want its package-management workflow. | Homebrew is listed as an installation option. |
| npm | You already manage tools through npm. | The package is listed on npm as @crissyfield/super-trouper. |
| Release binary | You prefer downloading a published binary rather than installing through a package manager or compiling. | Release binaries are listed as an option; follow the project’s release instructions for the appropriate artifact. |
| Docker | You want to use a container-based distribution. | Docker is listed as an option. The listing does not establish which host/device configurations will work for a particular workflow. |
| Source build | You want to compile the project and can provide the required Frida development files. | A matching Frida Core DevKit is required. The listing documents CGO include and library flags for SDKs outside standard locations. |
For a source build, make sure the Frida Core DevKit matches the version expected by the project release you are building. The 0.4.0 listing specifies v17.19.0; treat that as release-specific, not a universal requirement for future versions.

What should I verify before relying on a workflow?
- Release details: Confirm the current release instructions, binary or package availability, and Frida version expected by that release.
- Host and target: Verify that your operating system, connection method, device state, and target process work with your own Frida setup.
- MCP client: Confirm that the client can launch and communicate with a local stdio server and can expose the server’s tools as expected.
- Source-build prerequisites: If compiling, check the matching Frida Core DevKit and any required CGO include and library paths.
The npm listing identifies the project license as MIT. It also displayed 76 weekly downloads in a time-sensitive 2026 snapshot; that count is not evidence of broad adoption and may change.
