Super Cruise has the larger published compatible-road network: General Motors says it covers more than 600,000 miles in the U.S. and Canada, compared with Ford’s claim of more than 130,000 miles of North American roads for BlueCruise. That difference does not establish which system feels better or works on your regular trips. Both are hands-free, eyes-on driver-assistance systems—not self-driving—and your route, vehicle, feature set and current plan matter more than a headline mileage total.
What do Super Cruise and BlueCruise do?
Both systems provide hands-free driving assistance on roads they are designed to support, while requiring the driver to keep watching the road and be ready to take control. They are not substitutes for an attentive driver.
Super Cruise
GM describes Super Cruise as a system that uses vehicle sensors and computers to identify the road and assess conditions. On compatible roads, it can manage steering, acceleration and braking; equipped vehicles may also change lanes automatically. GM says its mapped coverage now includes some secondary roads with clearly visible lane markings as well as divided highways. On equipped trucks, Super Cruise can support hands-free towing, but turn-signal-activated and automatic lane changes are unavailable while trailering. GM’s Super Cruise overview and its 2026 explainer describe these capabilities.
BlueCruise
Ford describes BlueCruise as hands-free highway driving that works with Adaptive Cruise Control and lane centering on designated “Blue Zones.” Depending on the model and software version, features can include Lane Change Assist, Automatic Lane Change and In-Lane Repositioning. Ford says Automatic Lane Change is available with BlueCruise 1.5 or later, and identifies selected 2025 and 2026 Mustang Mach-E models and 2026 Explorer vehicles for that feature. Check the exact vehicle and software version rather than assuming every BlueCruise-equipped car has the same capabilities. Ford’s BlueCruise page lists its current feature information.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
How much larger is Super Cruise’s road network?
| System | Published coverage | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| Super Cruise | More than 600,000 compatible road miles in the U.S. and Canada, reported by General Motors Engineering in August 2026. | GM says eligible vehicles receive periodic map updates automatically at no additional charge. GM’s 2026 coverage report. |
| BlueCruise | More than 130,000 miles of North American roads in designated Blue Zones, according to Ford’s page accessed October 7, 2026. | Ford describes Blue Zones as prequalified sections of divided highways. Ford’s BlueCruise page. |
The totals support saying that GM reports a substantially larger network, but they are not perfectly interchangeable measurements: the stated geographic scope and road eligibility differ, and maps can change. Neither number says whether your commute or planned trips are covered. Compare your actual regular routes on the GM map and Ford map before treating the larger total as a practical advantage.
Coverage is not a guarantee of availability on every drive. Both systems may disengage or become unavailable when lane markings, visibility, weather, sensors or other conditions are unsuitable. Ford warns that heavy rain, snow, fog or blocked sensors can affect operation; GM also notes that visibility, weather and road conditions can affect performance. Follow the in-vehicle prompts and be ready to resume control. Ford’s feature and safety information; GM’s system overview.

Does the bigger network make Super Cruise the better experience?
Not on the available evidence. Road mileage, feature lists and automaker usage totals do not establish ride smoothness, reliability, comfort or how often a system intervenes. A fair experience comparison would require equivalent vehicles, routes, software and conditions; the published material cited here does not provide that controlled comparison.

How should you choose between them?
- Check your routes. Look up your commute and frequent trips on each manufacturer’s current map. A smaller network that covers your roads may be more useful than a larger one that does not.
- Confirm the vehicle configuration. Verify model year, trim, installed equipment and software version, especially if lane-change features matter to you.
- Consider how you drive. Both require eyes on the road and readiness to take control. Check whether the system’s supported roads and operating limits fit the way you travel.
- Match features to your use. Compare lane-change assistance, automatic lane changes, in-lane positioning, mapped secondary-road coverage and, for eligible GM trucks, hands-free towing.
- Calculate the cost for your ownership period. Account for any included period or trial, then check current subscription or purchase terms with the automaker.
What should you expect from the published claims?
The coverage, feature, pricing and usage information above comes from the manufacturers. It describes what each company says its system offers; it does not independently verify performance or establish an overall winner. GM’s 2026 cumulative mileage figure is newer than the 705 million figure shown on its overview, which is labeled as data through October 2025. Ford’s BlueCruise page lists current coverage and prices without a publication date, so those details should be checked again when making a purchase decision.
