The supplied title describes an interview about SungWon Cho’s approach to 100% game completion, his dislike of multiplayer games and a difficult Balatro Joker. The interview itself—and the specific claims, Joker and reasons named in that framing—could not be verified from the available sources. It would be misleading to present them as confirmed statements by Cho.
What can be established is the context behind the Balatro achievement discussion: a community guide describes Completionist++ as a demanding task involving Gold Stake wins with every Joker. Separately, the game’s developer, LocalThunk, said in June 2025 that he had completed it. Neither source verifies what Cho said in the interview.

What is verified about the interview?
No interview transcript, publisher, publication date or direct interview citation was identified. The title supplied for this article is therefore the only basis for the framing about Cho’s achievement hunting, multiplayer preferences and a troublesome Joker. Those details should be treated as unverified rather than quoted or expanded into claims about his views.
In particular, there is no verified statement establishing which Joker is meant or why Cho might dislike multiplayer games. No specific explanation or quotation can responsibly be attributed to him here.
#1 Best Overall
- 150 Jokers, each with their own unique abilities.
- 15 Decks with distinct modifiers to choose from for each run.
- 5 potential variants of each Joker which add further abilities.
- 22 Tarot cards variants that can enhance your regular playing cards.
- 11 Planet cards that help level up your possible poker hands.
Why does Completionist++ matter to the Balatro context?
A Steam Community guide describes Completionist++ as earning gold stickers on all 150 Jokers. According to that community guidance, a player must hold a Joker when beating Ante 8 on Gold Stake for it to receive a gold sticker. This is a community account of the requirements, not official documentation: Steam Community guide to Completionist++.
The guide’s description helps explain why completing every part of Balatro can involve repeated, Joker-specific runs. It does not establish that Cho attempted Completionist++ or that any particular Joker nearly drove him to despair.

What did Balatro’s developer say about completing the game?
PC Gamer reproduced a statement posted by Balatro developer LocalThunk on June 21, 2025. He said he had completed the game 100%, enjoyed hunting for Completionist++, and played a few runs before bed. He also said the experience had better equipped him to design the 1.1 update and that he looked forward to repeating the challenge with new content. This is the developer’s statement—not Cho’s: PC Gamer’s report on LocalThunk completing the game.
