The title expresses a preference, not news that macOS is available on iPad: touch on a MacBook Pro may be appealing, but the writer would rather have macOS on an iPad. The original Sunday Reboot article could not be identified, so its author, date, and fuller argument are unknown.
Does macOS run on an iPad?
The available evidence does not establish a supported way to install or run macOS directly on an iPad. It therefore cannot answer every current device and software configuration authoritatively. The title should be read as a platform wish, not as a report of a released feature or an installation method.
What Sidecar does—and does not do
A secondary help-page excerpt describes Sidecar as a way to extend a Mac desktop onto an iPad or use the iPad as an input device in creative Mac apps. In that arrangement, the iPad works with a Mac; this description does not mean macOS runs natively on the iPad. See the Sidecar summary at the referenced help page.

The source excerpt does not establish current compatibility requirements, supported versions, or setup steps, so check Apple’s current documentation before relying on it for a particular device.

Why the distinction matters
Using an iPad with a Mac is different from turning the iPad into a Mac. Sidecar’s described role is to extend or interact with a Mac desktop; it does not establish local macOS operation or Mac-app compatibility on iPad. Likewise, discussion of rumored touch-enabled Mac hardware is not an official Apple announcement and does not verify a launch or feature.
What is known about the Sunday Reboot article
The exact article was not identified. Its publication date, author, original context, and argument beyond the preference stated in its title are unknown. No particular iPad model, MacBook Pro model, accessory, or product comparison is established by the available evidence.
