Strontium is a real memory and storage brand, but the available evidence does not support a blanket verdict that every Strontium product is good or reliable. Its catalog spans memory cards, USB drives, accessories, memory modules and SSDs, and its published warranty terms vary by product family. Judge the exact model against your device and workload, then check independent evidence, seller authenticity and the warranty available where you live.
Which Strontium does this refer to?
This article is about Strontium Technology Pte. Ltd., the Singapore-based memory and flash-storage company—not the chemical element or a supplement brand. Its current company site says it was founded in 2002 and operates in more than 35 countries; those are company-published claims, not independently audited measures of market share or product quality. Strontium’s company overview provides its own background and positioning.
What does Strontium sell?
The official catalog lists several product families: SD and microSD memory cards, USB and OTG flash drives, Apple accessories, and desktop and laptop memory modules. Its warranty policy also lists SSD coverage. Because these products differ in design, specifications and use, evidence about one family or model should not be treated as proof about another. What can the available evidence say about quality?
Manufacturer claims are useful, but not independent testing
Strontium’s FAQ says the company uses Hynix and Micron DRAM chips, tests memory modules at their rated specifications, and conducts compatibility and reliability testing, including work with an independent third-party compatibility lab. These are claims by the manufacturer; they do not independently establish the performance or reliability of a specific product you are considering. Read the official FAQ with that distinction in mind.

The independent review found is historical and narrow
AnandTech’s review of the Strontium Hawk 240GB SSD dates to 2013 and concerns that particular SSD. It may help explain how that historical model was evaluated, but it cannot establish how current Strontium SSDs perform—or say anything decisive about current memory cards, USB drives or RAM modules.
No brand-wide reliability rate is established
The available sources do not establish a current, independent multi-model reliability study or comparable failure-rate dataset for Strontium. Without that evidence, a universal reliability ranking or failure-rate claim would be misleading. Individual user reports can describe one person’s experience, but they are not representative testing.

How does Strontium’s warranty vary?
Strontium’s current published policy sets different terms by product family. These are policy terms, not a guarantee that every model or buyer in every country receives identical coverage.

The policy says warranty eligibility can depend on the product, country, seller, original-user status and proof of purchase. It covers defects under its terms but excludes, among other things, data loss and data recovery. Strontium advises backing up data before sending storage media for service. Review the warranty policy, and check the packaging or ask the seller or distributor about the exact model and local coverage before buying.

How to decide whether a Strontium product fits your needs
- Start with the exact device and task. For a camera, phone or other host, confirm it accepts the card format and capacity you intend to buy. Strontium’s camera-card page lists its camera memory-card range, but the host device’s own specifications determine compatibility.
- Match the performance rating to the workload. Check the card’s speed class or the module or drive’s interface and specifications against the device manufacturer’s requirements. Do not assume that a higher capacity or a familiar brand name alone makes a card suitable for video recording, burst photography or another demanding task.
- Look for independent evidence on that exact model. Prefer testing that identifies the model, test conditions and date. A review of a different Strontium product—or a years-old test—cannot stand in for current model-specific evidence.
- Confirm the seller and regional warranty. Check the precise model, capacity and speed rating in the listing, identify who is selling it, and confirm the service route and proof-of-purchase requirements. The existence of an official product range does not verify the authenticity or stock status of an individual marketplace listing.
- Keep a backup and your purchase record. Warranty terms do not replace a backup, and the published policy excludes data loss and recovery. Retain proof of purchase in case you need to make a claim.
So, is Strontium a good brand?
Strontium is an established, active memory and storage brand with a broad catalog and published warranty terms. That is enough to make its products candidates worth evaluating, but not enough to pronounce the entire brand good or bad. For a purchase, the sounder judgment is model-specific: confirm compatibility and required performance, seek relevant independent evidence, and verify the seller and local warranty. The 2013 review of one SSD and the company’s own quality claims do not settle the question for a current memory card or other product.
