The grade on a Strike Gundam kit describes the product line’s priorities, not a universal ladder in which every higher grade is automatically better or harder. Entry Grade (EG) emphasizes low-friction assembly, High Grade (HG) offers a broad 1/144 collectible range, Real Grade (RG) packs mechanical texture and articulation into 1/144 scale, and Master Grade (MG) uses a larger 1/100 format for more elaborate detail and gimmicks.

For a first Strike build, EG is the simplest starting point. Choose HG for familiar 1/144 collecting, RG for dense detail and posing at the same footprint, or MG when you want a larger display model and a more involved build. Always check the complete product name: “Strike Gundam” listings can represent the original machine, Aile Strike, Perfect Strike, Strike Rouge, a Lite Package release, or another configuration.

What the four grades actually mean

Bandai presents the grades as different design goals. The label tells you how a line generally balances scale, detail, articulation, parts separation and building effort; it does not guarantee identical construction or difficulty for every kit in that line. Two kits carrying the same grade can differ in accessories, engineering and final height.

Entry Grade: the low-friction first build

Entry Grade is positioned for beginners and easy assembly. Bandai’s 2023 Find Your Perfect Gunpla! guide calls it “The best choice for your first experience.” The line’s appeal is a short path from box to completed model, making it suitable when you want to build a Strike Gundam without committing to a complex inner structure or a long parts count.

High Grade: the broad 1/144 standard

High Grade is a wide collectible family described as easy to assemble. Its 1/144 format gives it the same general display scale as EG and RG, while the extensive lineup makes HG useful for collecting characters and machines from an entire series. Individual HG kits can still vary substantially in parts, articulation and included equipment.

Real Grade: realism and movement at 1/144

Real Grade keeps the compact 1/144 scale but puts greater emphasis on realistic color separation, mechanical texture, movement and an inner-frame concept. That focus usually means a denser build than EG or a straightforward HG. Treat “RG” as a design direction rather than a promise that every release uses an identical frame or assembly sequence.

Master Grade: larger scale and richer mechanisms

Master Grade is represented at 1/100 scale and is designed around precise detail, mobility, inner detail and display gimmicks. The larger shell gives designers more room for mechanisms and surface treatment. It also creates a bigger model, a larger footprint and a build that generally demands more time and organization than an entry-oriented kit.

Which Entry Grade Strike Gundam is the beginner choice?

Bandai’s catalog lists an ENTRY GRADE 1/144 Strike Gundam (Gundam SEED), product number 2582155, released in Japan on January 15, 2022. This is the clearest match when you want the original Strike Gundam in an easy-entry line.

Standard kit versus Lite Package

The catalog also lists a distinct Entry Grade Strike variant called the Lite Package version. Do not assume that a listing with “Entry Grade Strike” has the same packaging or contents as the standard product. Confirm the complete name, product number and included equipment before ordering.

Why EG makes sense for a first Strike

  • The line is explicitly positioned for a first building experience.
  • Its representative 1/144 size is easy to display alongside HG and RG models.
  • The guide’s approximate 74-part example indicates the lower part-count direction of the line, although the exact Strike kit specification is the authority for that product.
  • The build is a sensible way to learn basic runner identification, part fitting and posing before attempting a denser design.

Choose EG when finishing a model quickly and confidently matters more than maximum mechanical texture or a large accessory loadout.

When High Grade is the better Strike Gundam option

HG is the practical middle ground for many collectors. It remains 1/144, so it occupies roughly the same shelf scale as EG and RG, but the line covers a broad range of series and variants. That makes HG useful when your goal is not only one Strike but a group of Gundam SEED machines.

What HG gives you

  • A straightforward 1/144 build with more parts and visual separation than the representative EG example.
  • Access to a broad Strike-family lineup, subject to the exact release and market availability.
  • A familiar size for comparing several mobile suits without the footprint of 1/100 models.

What you must verify

“HG Strike” is not one single specification. Check whether the product is the original Strike, Aile Strike, Strike Rouge or another family member, and inspect the listed weapons and packs. Bandai’s grade guide gives an approximate HG example of 150 parts and 13 cm, but it does not establish those values for every Strike-family release.

Why choose Real Grade for Strike?

RG is aimed at builders who want a highly detailed, poseable 1/144 model. Its differentiator is not a larger scale; it is the concentration of color, mechanical surface detail, movement and inner-frame-style engineering in the same compact footprint.

RG strengths

  • More pronounced mechanical texture for close-up viewing.
  • Greater emphasis on articulation and dynamic posing.
  • A representative size of about 13 cm, making RG easy to display with HG and EG while looking more intricate.
  • A representative guide count of about 250 parts, signaling a denser assembly experience than the beginner-oriented category example.

RG trade-offs

The additional detail can make instructions and part organization more demanding. Do not infer that every RG Strike release has the same frame, stability or accessory set. Confirm the exact product page, especially when a listing refers to an Aile Strike-related RG rather than the original Strike configuration.

What Master Grade adds

MG changes the display equation by moving to a representative 1/100 scale. Bandai’s guide example is about 18 cm tall and about 260 parts, with the line focused on precise detail, mobility, inner detail and gimmicks.

MG advantages

  • A larger silhouette that reads clearly from across a shelf.
  • More room for surface detail and moving mechanisms.
  • A build experience suited to someone who enjoys assembly as a project rather than a quick first model.

MG Strike naming matters most here

The catalog evidence includes MG Perfect Strike-related products. Perfect Strike combines equipment associated with a specific configuration, so it should not be presented as the same product as an original Strike or an Aile Strike. If you want a particular on-screen loadout, verify that the product name explicitly identifies it.

Strike Gundam names, packs and variants

The phrase “Strike Gundam” can hide meaningful differences. Bandai’s catalog spans an Entry Grade Strike, HG Strike-family products, RG Aile Strike-related products and MG Perfect Strike-related products. These are not four equivalent versions separated only by grade.

Use the full configuration name

Write or search the complete name, such as “Entry Grade 1/144 Strike Gundam (Gundam SEED)” or a listing that explicitly says Aile Strike, Perfect Strike or Strike Rouge. The pack changes the equipment and appearance; the grade changes the product-line priorities. Both facts are needed to identify what you are buying.

Do not assume packs are interchangeable

A product page may show a Strike-family mobile suit with a striker pack, but the image alone does not establish what is in the box. Read the included-items list and the official product designation. If a pack is sold separately or belongs to another release, the base kit may not provide the pictured configuration.

How to choose the right grade for your project

  1. Set your display scale. Pick 1/144 if you want EG, HG or RG models to share a compact shelf. Pick the representative 1/100 MG format when a larger centerpiece is the priority.
  2. Choose your build intensity. Select EG for the easiest first experience, HG for a conventional collectible build, RG for concentrated detail and articulation, or MG for a larger project with inner detail and gimmicks.
  3. Identify the exact Strike configuration. Decide whether you want the original Strike, Aile Strike, Perfect Strike, Strike Rouge or another variant before comparing prices or photos.
  4. Check the contents. Confirm weapons, striker packs, display components and any stated effect parts on the exact product listing.
  5. Check local availability and price. The guide’s 2023 Japan figures are orientation only. Retail prices, stock and regional packaging can differ, so use current listings serving your country.
  6. Plan the shelf and build area. A 1/100 model needs more display depth and storage space than a representative 1/144 model, while a detailed RG may need more workspace for sorting small parts.

A practical decision guide

Choose Entry Grade when…

You are building your first Gunpla, want the original Strike Gundam and prefer the shortest path to a finished model. Confirm that the listing is the standard Entry Grade 1/144 Strike Gundam rather than the separate Lite Package variant.

Choose High Grade when…

You want a familiar 1/144 scale, broad Gundam SEED coverage or a straightforward kit whose exact accessories you can select from the product page.

Choose Real Grade when…

You value fine surface detail, mechanical texture and articulation but do not want to move up to a 1/100 display model. Be prepared for a more parts-intensive build and verify the specific Strike configuration.

Choose Master Grade when…

You have room for a larger model and want richer inner detail, mobility and gimmicks. Check whether the product is a Perfect Strike-related release or another MG configuration before treating it as the original machine.

Common buying mistakes and how to avoid them

  • Treating grades as a strict difficulty ranking: line positioning is useful, but individual engineering varies. Read the exact kit information.
  • Comparing unlike configurations: an Aile Strike or Perfect Strike is not the same equipment loadout as the original Strike. Put the configuration in the comparison heading.
  • Using guide prices as current prices: the published numbers are Japan guide prices from 2023, before tax. They are not a 2026 market survey.
  • Assuming every product in a grade has the representative dimensions: the figures are approximate category examples. Check the specific release for height, parts and contents.
  • Buying from a photo alone: promotional images can show optional equipment or a posed configuration. Use the official included-items description.

Bottom line: which Strike Gundam grade should you build?

Start with the Entry Grade 1/144 Strike Gundam if you want the easiest first build. Pick HG for a broad, familiar 1/144 collection; RG for high-detail, highly poseable 1/144 display; and MG for a larger 1/100 project with more inner detail and gimmicks. The grade answers how the kit is designed to be built and displayed. The full product name answers which Strike Gundam configuration you will actually receive.
