Buy Street Fighter 6 Years 1-2 Fighters Edition for Nintendo Switch 2 if you want one modern fighting game with a unified 26-character roster, a substantial single-player campaign, crossplay, training tools, and Switch 2-specific modes. Buy Capcom Fighting Collection for Nintendo Switch if your priority is a ten-game retro arcade library covering several Capcom fighting series and eras.
For most Switch 2 owners, Street Fighter 6 is the better default purchase. The collection is the more distinctive choice for players who specifically want arcade preservation, Darkstalkers, Red Earth, Hyper Street Fighter II, and the feel of playing separate historical games rather than one continuously supported fighter.
Street Fighter 6 and Capcom Fighting Collection at a glance
| Category | Street Fighter 6 Years 1-2 Fighters Edition | Capcom Fighting Collection |
|---|---|---|
| Type | Modern competitive fighting game with story, online hubs and training systems | Retro compilation of 10 Capcom arcade fighting games |
| Switch release information | Nintendo Switch 2 release listed for June 5, 2025 | Original Nintendo Switch release announced for June 24, 2022 |
| Roster structure | One unified roster of 26 fighters in the Years 1-2 package | Ten separate games, each with its own cast, rules and balance |
| Single-player focus | World Tour avatar campaign, Arcade and training content | Arcade games and their included modes; no equivalent unified story campaign is documented |
| Online information | Ranked and unranked matches, Battle Hub and documented crossplay | Online capabilities for the original collection should not be assumed to match SF6 without checking the current product listing |
| Control options | Classic, Modern and Dynamic controls, plus Switch 2 motion-oriented modes | Primarily an authentic arcade-control experience across different classic games |
| Switch 2 performance caveat | World Tour battles are reported at 30fps; competitive modes are described as stable | The cited announcement does not document a native Switch 2 edition or enhancement patch |
The two products overlap only in the broad sense that both are Capcom fighting-game releases. They serve different purposes: SF6 is a current game built around one competitive system, while the collection is an archive of distinct arcade designs.
What you actually get with Street Fighter 6 on Switch 2
The 18-fighter base presentation
Nintendo’s Switch 2 listing describes Street Fighter 6 as an 18-fighter package with three control schemes, World Tour, Battle Hub, online play, local wireless play and Fighting Ground content. Its listed Switch 2 release date is June 5, 2025. The 18-fighter figure refers to the launch roster presented for the core game, not the complete Years 1-2 edition sold as the recommended package.

What the Years 1-2 Fighters Edition adds
The Years 1-2 Fighters Edition brings the total to 26 fighters by adding Rashid, A.K.I., Ed, Akuma, M. Bison, Terry Bogard, Mai Shiranui and Elena. It also includes four DLC stages and Drive Tickets. That gives you a single roster for learning matchups, practicing combos and playing ranked matches, rather than switching between unrelated games as you do in a compilation.
The roster is intentionally broad. It includes long-running Street Fighter characters, newer additions and guest fighters from other Capcom and SNK-associated fighting-game history. The important buying point is not merely the number 26; it is that all 26 characters participate in the same current rule set and online ecosystem.
World Tour
World Tour is SF6’s largest single-player feature. You create an avatar, explore Metro City, meet Masters and train under them while progressing through a story. Your avatar can learn techniques associated with the game’s roster, so the mode doubles as a guided introduction to movement, special moves and combat situations.

World Tour is useful if you want progression outside online matches or need a low-pressure way to become familiar with the controls. It also gives the game a stronger solo identity than a standard arcade ladder. However, the Switch 2 version has an important performance qualification: TechRadar reports that World Tour battles are locked to 30 frames per second, with more visible compromises than the game’s competitive modes. Players who expect every part of SF6 to run like a tournament setup should factor that in.
Battle Hub and Fighting Ground
Battle Hub is the social and online center. You can gather with other players, communicate, sit at virtual cabinets and enter matches. Nintendo also describes a Game Center within the hub that provides access to Capcom arcade games. Fighting Ground contains the conventional fighting-game tools: ranked and unranked matches, Arcade, training and combo trials.
This separation is practical. World Tour provides progression and exploration; Battle Hub provides social play and matchmaking; Fighting Ground provides focused practice and traditional modes. If you want to spend months improving one character, the training and combo-trial structure is more relevant than the story presentation.

What Capcom Fighting Collection is designed to do
A ten-game historical library
Capcom announced the original Capcom Fighting Collection for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC with a June 24, 2022 release date. Capcom says the package contains ten games, including the Darkstalkers series, the first home-console and PC version of Red Earth, and Hyper Street Fighter II.

A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11Those inclusions make the collection a historical sampler rather than a modern sequel. Each game has its own cast, speed, input timing, special systems and balance philosophy. Learning one title does not automatically prepare you for another, but that variety is the reason to buy the collection. You can move from Darkstalkers’ supernatural cast to Hyper Street Fighter II’s character-era variations, then explore Red Earth’s unusual design without purchasing separate releases.
Arcade authenticity versus unified progression
The collection’s value comes from preserving separate arcade experiences in one package. It is well suited to players who enjoy comparing how Capcom’s mechanics evolved, studying older character designs or recreating a local arcade session. It is less suited to someone who wants one main character, one ranking ladder and one consistent training curriculum.
The cited 2022 announcement does not document a native Switch 2 edition or a Switch 2 enhancement patch for this original release. Before buying, check the exact Nintendo storefront listing for the edition available to your console. Do not assume that the existence of a Switch version means that every Switch 2-specific feature or performance improvement is present.
Which game has more content?
“More content” depends on whether you count breadth or depth. Capcom Fighting Collection has ten complete games, which is unmatched variety. Street Fighter 6 has one game, but that game contains a 26-fighter roster in the Years 1-2 edition, an avatar campaign, social hub, ranked and unranked online play, Arcade, training, combo trials, local wireless play and Switch 2-exclusive activities.
Recommended Free Tools
| If you count… | The stronger fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Distinct games and historical eras | Capcom Fighting Collection | Ten separate Capcom fighting games with different casts and systems |
| One game to master competitively | Street Fighter 6 | A unified roster, shared mechanics, training tools and ranked ecosystem |
| Solo progression | Street Fighter 6 | World Tour supplies an avatar-driven story and structured exploration |
| Local variety | Capcom Fighting Collection | Players can select among multiple classic games instead of repeating one ruleset |
| Long-term online practice | Street Fighter 6 | Crossplay and clearly documented ranked, unranked and Battle Hub features |
SF6 therefore offers greater depth inside a single modern system, while the collection offers greater breadth across Capcom history. Neither interpretation is a technical trick; they describe two different kinds of value.

Online play: the biggest practical difference
Street Fighter 6’s documented online ecosystem
Street Fighter 6 supports online play through ranked and unranked matches and Battle Hub activities. TechRadar reports full crossplay, which means Switch 2 players can compete with players on supported other platforms rather than being restricted to a Nintendo-only pool. Crossplay is especially important for a competitive fighter because a larger potential audience can make it easier to find opponents at different skill levels.
Battle Hub adds a social layer around matches. You can enter a shared space, communicate and challenge players at cabinets instead of navigating only through menus. If your main question is “Which game gives me the stronger online fighting experience?”, SF6 is the safer answer based on the documented feature set.
What not to assume about the collection
The original collection announcement confirms the ten-game package and its platforms, but the available information here does not establish equivalent cross-platform support or a Switch 2-specific online audience. Do not buy it expecting SF6-style crossplay, matchmaking structure or an active player population without checking current publisher and storefront information for the exact version you intend to use.

Classic, Modern and Dynamic in SF6
Street Fighter 6 offers Classic, Modern and Dynamic control schemes. Classic preserves the traditional layout and manual input expectations. Modern simplifies special-move inputs and provides easier combo routes, making it a practical starting point for players who have never learned a traditional fighting game. Dynamic is designed for more immediate, situation-based actions and is useful when you want a less technical first session.
These options do not turn SF6 into a button-mashing game. Modern controls lower the initial execution barrier while leaving room to learn spacing, timing, defense and matchup decisions. You can begin with Modern, then move to Classic if you want full command-input control.
Switch 2 motion and local modes
Nintendo lists motion controls, tabletop play and local wireless play for the Switch 2 version. The console-specific package also includes Local Wireless One on One, Avatar Matches, Gyro Battle and Calorie Contest. These modes are most attractive when you regularly play with people in the same room and want alternatives to standard ranked matches.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
For Classic inputs, TechRadar reports that a Switch 2 Pro Controller is a better fit than Joy-Con 2. The recommendation is ergonomic rather than a requirement: Joy-Con 2 can make local or motion-oriented modes convenient, while a Pro Controller offers a more conventional directional control surface for repeated quarter-circle and charge inputs.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesThe collection’s control appeal
Capcom Fighting Collection is primarily about reproducing the feel and behavior of older arcade games. That means its appeal is strongest when you appreciate original input timing and game-specific quirks. It is not the better choice simply because you want “easy controls”; the ten games may demand different forms of arcade familiarity, and there is no single Modern-style scheme unifying the package.
Switch 2 performance and presentation caveats
Where SF6 is strongest
TechRadar describes the competitive modes of the Switch 2 version as stable and the package as broadly feature-complete. That matters because ranked play, training and local competition are the modes where consistent timing is most important. If your purchase decision is centered on competitive matches, the reported stability supports SF6’s position as the stronger modern option.
Where SF6 compromises
World Tour battles are reported at 30fps on Switch 2 and show more visible compromises than competitive modes. The limitation does not erase the campaign’s value, but it changes expectations: World Tour is the part of the package where visual and performance concessions are most apparent. Buyers who care more about a polished solo adventure than online competition should consider that trade-off before choosing SF6 solely for its story mode.
What is known about the collection’s Switch 2 status
The original Capcom announcement covers Nintendo Switch but does not establish a native Switch 2 release or enhancement patch. Treat compatibility, resolution, frame-rate behavior and any platform-specific options as questions for the current storefront listing, not as automatic benefits of newer hardware.
Which game should different players buy?
Choose Street Fighter 6 if you want a current main game
- You want one roster and one ruleset to learn deeply.
- You expect ranked, unranked and social online play with documented crossplay.
- You want a substantial solo mode rather than only arcade-style sessions.
- You are new to fighting games and want Modern or Dynamic controls before learning Classic.
- You plan to use Switch 2-exclusive modes such as Gyro Battle or Avatar Matches.
- You want a game with ongoing competitive relevance rather than a historical sampler.
Choose Capcom Fighting Collection if you want arcade history
- You specifically want Darkstalkers, Red Earth, Hyper Street Fighter II and other classic Capcom fighting games in one purchase.
- You prefer switching among ten distinct games to mastering one contemporary ruleset.
- You enjoy local sessions where each player can choose a different title.
- You value preservation, character history and mechanical variety over a story campaign.
- You are comfortable checking the current Switch 2 listing for compatibility and online details before purchase.
Buy both only when their purposes are separate
Owning both makes sense for a player who wants SF6 as a modern competitive home base and the collection as a historical library. The purchases are complementary, not redundant: one gives you a unified current fighter, while the other gives you ten separate snapshots of Capcom’s arcade design. Buying both is harder to justify if you mainly want one online game or have limited time to learn a single character.
Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
What “worth it” means on Switch 2
Street Fighter 6 is worth it on Switch 2 when the console’s portability, local wireless options and modern online ecosystem match how you play. Its broad feature set means you can use the same purchase for solo progression, practice, local matches and cross-platform competition. The main qualification is the 30fps World Tour battle performance, so the game is a better fit for competitive players than for buyers seeking a uniformly high-performance story adventure.
Capcom Fighting Collection is worth it when the ten-game format is the attraction in itself. Its value does not depend on beating SF6 at modern presentation or online features. It is a curated archive for players who want to revisit or discover Capcom’s older fighting traditions. Because the cited announcement is from 2022 and does not document a native Switch 2 enhancement, confirm the exact edition and available online features before treating it as a Switch 2-native purchase.
A practical decision checklist before checkout
- Decide whether you want one fighter or ten. Select SF6 for one shared system and roster; select the collection for separate games.
- Rank online play. If crossplay and a current ranked ecosystem are essential, choose SF6 based on its documented features.
- Check your solo preference. Choose SF6 for World Tour, or the collection for arcade-focused sessions without an equivalent unified campaign.
- Choose your control path. SF6 offers Classic, Modern and Dynamic controls; the collection is built around authentic game-specific arcade behavior.
- Confirm the platform listing. For the original collection, check the exact Nintendo Switch 2 storefront entry for compatibility, enhancements and online details.
- Plan your controller. For serious Classic-input SF6 play, a Switch 2 Pro Controller is reported as a better fit than Joy-Con 2; Joy-Con 2 remains useful for motion and casual local modes.
Why Street Fighter 6 is the default recommendation
Capcom says the Street Fighter series had reached 56 million cumulative sales as of December 31, 2024, showing the scale of the franchise behind SF6. More importantly for a Switch 2 buyer, SF6 combines the recognizable Street Fighter foundation with an accessible control entry point, a 26-fighter Years 1-2 roster, World Tour, Battle Hub, Fighting Ground and Switch 2-specific activities.

Capcom describes the game as designed for a wide range of players, with controller input options for beginners and seasoned players and improved audio accessibility settings. That positioning is reflected in the three control schemes: you can start simply without giving up a path toward traditional execution and advanced competition.
The collection remains the better answer when “Capcom fighting games” means a museum-like selection of distinct arcade titles rather than one current Street Fighter. Its ten-game breadth is something SF6 cannot replicate. But for a buyer asking which single Switch 2 fighting game to get first, SF6 covers more use cases, documents the stronger online offering and provides a clearer long-term learning path.
