Short answer: Standard is the right launch-era choice if you want the complete base game and its 18-character starting roster. Deluxe added the four Year 1 characters, their Outfit 1 color options, and 4,200 Drive Tickets. Ultimate added that Year 1 content plus more costumes, stages, and 7,700 Drive Tickets. Those are historical launch packages, however. Stores now foreground newer bundles such as Years 1-2 Fighters Edition and sell Year 1 through Year 4 passes separately, so a 2026 purchase should be based on the live listing for your platform and region rather than on the old edition names alone.
This guide separates the original launch comparison from what buyers can actually find now, then gives you a practical way to match characters, costumes, stages, and currency to the least expensive suitable package.
The launch-era difference in one table
PlayStation Blog’s December 8, 2022 announcement described three editions for the June 2, 2023 launch. The prices below were U.S. launch prices announced at that time, not current prices or a guarantee that the same bundles remain available.
| Edition | Base game and launch content | Additional content at launch | U.S. launch price (2022 announcement) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | Fighting Ground, World Tour, Battle Hub, and the 18-character launch roster | None beyond the base game | USD $59.99 |
| Deluxe | Everything in Standard | Year 1 Character Pass: four post-launch characters, Outfit 1 colors 3-10 for each of those characters, and 4,200 Drive Tickets | USD $84.99 |
| Ultimate | Everything in Standard | Year 1 Ultimate Pass: all Year 1 Character Pass content, two additional costumes and their alternate colors for the four Year 1 characters, two additional stages, and 7,700 Drive Tickets | USD $104.99 |
The original launch announcement is the source for both the contents and those historical prices. It describes the 18-character figure as the launch roster, not the roster available after later character passes.

What every edition includes
The edition names change, but the base game is the same foundation. The official Steam and PlayStation listings identify three major modes:
- Fighting Ground: the conventional collection of versus and training-focused fighting features.
- World Tour: a single-player story mode.
- Battle Hub: an online social space where players meet and play.
Some features require an internet connection and a Capcom ID, according to the Steam listing. The passes do not replace the base game: you need the game itself to use any character or ultimate pass.
What Deluxe actually added at launch
Deluxe was not a different game mode or an upgrade to the launch roster. Its defining purchase was the Year 1 Character Pass. That pass supplied four characters released after launch, Outfit 1 colors 3-10 for each of those characters, and a one-time allocation of 4,200 Drive Tickets.
If you cared primarily about playing those four additional fighters, Deluxe was the straightforward launch-era upgrade. The color options were tied to the four pass characters; they were not a blanket color unlock for every fighter in the game. Deluxe also did not include the extra stages and additional costumes that belonged to the Year 1 Ultimate Pass.
What Ultimate added at launch
The original Ultimate Edition bundled the Year 1 Ultimate Pass with the base game. It included everything in the Year 1 Character Pass, then added two more costumes and alternate colors for each of the four Year 1 characters, two additional stages, and 7,700 Drive Tickets.

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
That makes Ultimate a cosmetics-and-extras decision rather than a requirement for accessing the core game. Someone who wanted the four Year 1 characters but did not care about the extra costumes, stages, or larger Drive Ticket allotment had no launch-era reason to pay for Ultimate instead of Deluxe.
Why the old three-way comparison can mislead buyers now
Street Fighter 6’s live storefronts have evolved. The names Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate still appear in searches and older coverage, but current listings also combine later content into newer bundles and sell passes as separate add-ons.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesSteam’s current structure
The Steam listing shows the base game and a Years 1-2 Fighters Edition bundle. That bundle contains the game, the Year 1 Character Pass, the Year 2 Character Pass, and Years 1-2 Fighters Edition Stages & Colors. Steam also lists Year 1, Year 2, Year 3, and Year 4 Character Passes and Ultimate Passes as separate add-ons.
PlayStation’s current structure
The PlayStation Store listing similarly shows Standard Edition, Years 1-2 Fighters Edition, and individual passes. The opened listing is the Australian storefront, so its prices and availability should not be treated as universal. Your console store may show different currency, promotions, package names, or inventory.
Do not confuse an edition with a pass
The original Ultimate Edition was a launch bundle containing the base game and Year 1 Ultimate Pass. A later Ultimate Pass is a downloadable-content product that can be bought separately. Owning an Ultimate Pass does not mean you own the base game; a separate game purchase is required.

How the later Character and Ultimate Passes work
Capcom’s June 29, 2026 announcement describes the pass structure for Years 1 through 4:
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →| Product type | Stated contents | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Character Pass | Four additional characters, Outfit 1 Colors 3-10, and Drive Tickets | Exact ticket totals and any bundle-specific extras should be checked on the live platform listing. |
| Ultimate Pass | All Character Pass content, plus Outfit 2 and 3 costumes and additional Drive Tickets | Year 1 and Year 2 passes also include additional stages, according to Capcom. |
Capcom’s wording is: “Each Character Pass includes 4 additional characters, plus Outfit 1 Colors 3-10 and Drive Tickets.” It also says: “Each Ultimate Pass includes all Character Pass content, plus Outfit 2 & 3 costumes and additional Drive Tickets.” Read the full Capcom Town Store announcement for the pass definitions.
The important buying implication is that “Ultimate” no longer identifies only one launch product. You must check the year, whether the product is a Character Pass or Ultimate Pass, and which stages or colors are listed.
A decision rule that works for a purchase today
Use this sequence instead of choosing by the most expensive label.
- Start with your platform and region. Open the Steam, PlayStation, or other platform store where you will play. Edition names, currencies, taxes, promotions, and included items can differ.
- List the characters you actually want. If every desired fighter is in the base roster, Standard may be sufficient. If they are from one particular year, compare that year’s Character Pass with a bundle that includes it.
- Check the cosmetic scope. A Character Pass covers Outfit 1 colors 3-10 for its four characters. An Ultimate Pass adds Outfit 2 and 3 costumes and additional Drive Tickets. Do not assume a pass changes costumes for the entire roster.
- Check stages and currency. Year 1 and Year 2 pass descriptions include additional stages; Drive Ticket amounts differ by product. Confirm the exact listing before paying.
- Compare the total, not just the discount badge. Add the base game and each desired pass separately, then compare that total with the current bundle. A bundle is useful only when it contains content you would otherwise buy.
- Choose physical or digital deliberately. A physical package and a digital bundle can have different availability and included codes. Verify whether the pass is supplied as a code, attached to an account, or omitted.
Which choice fits which buyer?
Choose the base-game package when you want the fundamentals
Choose Standard, or the current equivalent base-game listing, when your priority is Fighting Ground, World Tour, Battle Hub, and the launch roster. You can add individual passes later if a particular character or cosmetic set becomes important. This approach avoids paying up front for years of content you may never use.

Choose a Character Pass when specific fighters are the priority
If your must-have list is concentrated in one year, the corresponding Character Pass is usually easier to evaluate than a broad bundle. You receive four characters, their Outfit 1 color range, and Drive Tickets without automatically paying for every Ultimate-level costume.
Choose an Ultimate Pass when the extras have value to you
Ultimate makes sense when you want the pass’s full character content and also care about Outfit 2 and 3 costumes, additional Drive Tickets, and any included stages. It is not automatically the best value: the extra cost is justified only by extras you will use.
Choose a multi-year bundle when you want a broad roster
A Years 1-2 Fighters Edition-style bundle is aimed at someone who already expects to play characters from both years. Compare its included stages and colors with the individual passes, because buying a bundle that contains unwanted cosmetics can cost more than a tailored purchase.

Using launch prices as if they were current
The USD $59.99, $84.99, and $104.99 figures belong to the December 2022 launch announcement. Store prices can change with region, tax, sales, and bundle replacement. Treat those numbers as historical context only.
Assuming “Ultimate” always means the same contents
The launch Ultimate Edition and later Ultimate Pass are different products. Read the full contents panel and look for the year number before purchasing.

Buying a pass without the game
Passes are add-ons, not standalone copies of Street Fighter 6. Confirm that your account owns the base game or add it to the same platform account.
Expecting a pass to include every later character
A Character Pass covers four characters for its stated year. It does not silently include other years. Check each pass line by line when building a multi-year roster.

Capcom announced on June 11, 2025 that Street Fighter 6 had surpassed 5 million units worldwide. That is total game sales, not sales of Standard, Deluxe, Ultimate, or any individual pass. No edition-specific sales figure or independent performance comparison establishes that one edition is more popular or technically better than another. The milestone is useful context for the game’s reach, not a buying signal.
Final purchase checklist
- Is the listing for your exact platform?
- Is the store region and currency correct?
- Does the package include the specific year and pass type you want?
- Are your desired characters listed among the four included characters?
- Are the costumes, colors, stages, and Drive Tickets you care about explicitly included?
- Does the package contain the base game, or are you buying downloadable content separately?
- Is the current bundle cheaper than buying the game and only the passes you need?
- For physical copies, are any pass codes present and still redeemable?
For the original launch comparison, Standard was the complete core game, Deluxe was the character-focused upgrade, and Ultimate was the all-extras Year 1 package. For a purchase now, ignore the label until you have verified the live contents on your own platform; the characters and extras you will actually use are the decisive factors.
