Start by checking whether Straight Talk Home Internet is available at the exact address where you plan to use it. If eligible, use Straight Talk’s Home Internet Router activation option, then follow the setup instructions included with the router. The service is address-specific, so check with Straight Talk before moving it or changing where the equipment is installed.
1. Check availability at the service address
Enter the full street address where the router will be used on Straight Talk’s Home Internet page. The service is available only in select areas, and eligibility is checked at the address level; a nearby home may have a different result. Confirm availability before ordering or beginning activation.
2. Get the required plan and router
Straight Talk says its Home Internet plan works only with the Straight Talk Home Internet Router and certified equipment. A generic router is not a substitute for the required device. Straight Talk’s support portal lists router models FWF100V5L and FWA55V5L; check the model label on your device if you need model-specific help.
Straight Talk’s offer page, reviewed in 2026, listed standalone service at $45 per month and a one-time router cost of $69.99. It also listed a $10 monthly discount with a Gold or Platinum Unlimited mobile plan. Prices, discounts, availability, and router inventory can change, so verify the current terms before purchase.
#1 Best Overall
- DUAL-BAND WIFI 6 ROUTER: Wi-Fi 6(802.11ax) technology achieves faster speeds, greater capacity and reduced network congestion compared to the previous gen. All WiFi routers require a separate modem. Dual-Band WiFi routers do not support the 6 GHz band.
- AX1800: Enjoy smoother and more stable streaming, gaming, downloading with 1.8 Gbps total bandwidth (up to 1200 Mbps on 5 GHz and up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz). Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
- CONNECT MORE DEVICES: Wi-Fi 6 technology communicates more data to more devices simultaneously using revolutionary OFDMA technology
- EXTENSIVE COVERAGE: Achieve the strong, reliable WiFi coverage with Archer AX1800 as it focuses signal strength to your devices far away using Beamforming technology, 4 high-gain antennas and an advanced front-end module (FEM) chipset
- OUR CYBERSECURITY COMMITMENT: TP-Link is a signatory of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Secure-by-Design pledge. This device is designed, built, and maintained, with advanced security as a core requirement.
3. Open the Home Internet Router activation option
- Go to Straight Talk’s wireless activation page.
- Select the “HOME INTERNET ROUTER” device option and choose “ACTIVATE.”
- Follow the prompts shown in the live activation flow. The public page identifies the entry point but does not establish every prompt or required identifier, so do not rely on instructions intended for phone activation.
4. Set up the router using its in-box instructions
Activation is not a replacement for setting up the physical router. Straight Talk says to plug in the router and follow the steps to connect; an installation appointment is not needed. Its Terms and Conditions direct customers to follow the installation and setup instructions provided in the box. Use those instructions and Straight Talk’s guidance for device placement rather than improvising a different installation.
5. Activate promptly and keep service at the registered address
Straight Talk advises setting up and activating the plan when the router arrives so a reservation can be held. Some purchases or registrations may include a 30-day reservation. If no reservation applies or it has expired, check the address for availability again before proceeding.

- Next-Gen Gigabit Wi-Fi 6 Speeds: 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz bands ensure smoother streaming and faster downloads; support VPN server and VPN client¹
- A More Responsive Experience: Enjoy smooth gaming, video streaming, and live feeds simultaneously. OFDMA makes your Wi-Fi stronger by allowing multiple clients to share one band at the same time, cutting latency and jitter.²
- Expanded Wi-Fi Coverage: 4 high-gain external antennas and Beamforming technology combine to extend strong, reliable, Wi-Fi throughout your home.
- Improved Battery Life: Target Wake Time helps your devices to communicate efficiently while consuming less power.
- Improved Cooling Design: No heat ups, no throttles. A larger heat sink and redefined case design cools the WiFi 6 system and enables your network to stay at top speeds in more versatile environments.
The service is for the address supplied with the order. Contact Straight Talk before relocating the service or changing the equipment location; authorization may be required. The terms describe the service as residential and noncommercial, and say it does not support static IP addresses.

Straight Talk lists expected download speeds of 20–200 Mbps and upload speeds of 3–15 Mbps. For 4G LTE zones, it separately lists 20–50 Mbps download and 3–6 Mbps upload. These are provider-stated ranges, not a guarantee of the speed at a particular home: actual results depend on location, signal strength, and network conditions.
