The right Stord alternative depends on the work you need outsourced. For a Shopify merchant, the current Fulfillment Network partner list is a practical starting point: Flexport and ShipBob have the clearest platform descriptions in the available documentation, while Amazon Multi-Channel Fulfillment, Buy with Prime, Bigblue, DHL Fulfillment, GoBolt, Mayple, and Shipfusion are listed integrations that require direct verification. None can be declared a universal replacement without your order volume, SKU profile, channels, destinations, service requirements, and written commercial proposal.
Use this guide to separate a discovery list from a defensible selection. First establish what Stord is doing for you, then compare each candidate on service scope, systems, network, operations, contract economics, and migration risk.
What Stord covers—and what an alternative must replace
Stord presents itself as an integrated fulfillment and supply-chain provider for high-volume, omnichannel brands. Its service page describes B2B and B2C fulfillment, dedicated warehousing, kitting, custom packaging, parcel shipping, freight transportation including less-than-truckload (LTL) and drayage, frozen/refrigerated/chilled capacity, cross docking, forward stocking, and retail distribution. It also describes operator-built order and warehouse management technology, parcel-carrier selection, and flexible network capacity. These are Stord’s own service descriptions, not independent performance findings.
Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteThat breadth matters when you evaluate an alternative. A parcel-only direct-to-consumer (DTC) warehouse may handle pick-and-pack well but still leave you without retail routing, freight coordination, temperature-controlled storage, or a dedicated operating model. Conversely, a provider with broad capabilities may be unnecessary if your business only needs standard parcel fulfillment for a narrow SKU range.

Stord’s published network figures
Stord’s service page, accessed in 2026, reports the following figures:
| Claim | How to interpret it |
|---|---|
| 15 North American nodes | Company-reported footprint; the page does not supply an independent methodology. |
| More than 80 facilities in its expanded network | Company-reported network total; confirm which facilities are available for your products and services. |
| 99% coverage in under 2 days | Company-reported coverage claim; the definition of “coverage,” destination set, service level, and measurement period are not stated in the available material. |
| More than $10 billion in commerce powered annually | Company-reported volume indicator, not a guarantee of capacity or performance for an individual account. |
Do not use these numbers as an audited benchmark against another provider. Ask every candidate to define node counts, eligible inventory, delivery-service assumptions, coverage geography, and the period used for any performance statistic.
Shortlist: providers surfaced through Shopify
Shopify’s current Fulfillment Network documentation lists Flexport, Amazon Multi-Channel Fulfillment, Buy with Prime, Bigblue, DHL Fulfillment, GoBolt, Mayple, Shipfusion, and ShipBob as logistics partners available through its ecosystem. Shopify explicitly warns that “Each app has different setup procedures, requirements, and prices.” The list is a Shopify-connected discovery route, not an all-market ranking and not proof that every provider offers the same services as Stord.

| ShipBob | Shopify describes it as a global omnichannel fulfillment solution. ShipBob describes integrations including Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Squarespace, Amazon, and Walmart, plus warehouse-management and order-fulfillment workflows. | Exact countries and facilities available to you, wholesale and retail workflows, special handling, implementation scope, service levels, and all-in pricing. |

| Shipfusion | Listed by Shopify as a logistics partner. | Locations, channel support, special handling, retail and B2B processes, implementation, and price structure. |
Shopify’s partner status can change, and app availability does not establish market-wide availability. Confirm current eligibility and operating terms with Shopify and the provider.
Detailed alternatives and where the evidence is strongest
Flexport
Flexport has the clearest documented overlap with a broad, multichannel requirement. Shopify says it is integrated directly into the Shopify Fulfillment Network and identifies it as the preferred partner. Flexport’s ecommerce page describes multichannel fulfillment and a Shopify integration. Those statements establish a potential fit for merchants that want Shopify connectivity and more than a single-channel parcel workflow, but they do not prove equivalent coverage to Stord.
During diligence, ask Flexport to separate its fulfillment offer from freight-forwarding or transportation services in the proposal. Request a facility list for your inventory, the exact B2B and retail processes included, account-specific cut-off times, peak-season capacity, returns handling, and any temperature-controlled or special-packaging options. Require the integration design in writing rather than assuming that a direct Shopify connection covers every order, inventory, and exception flow.
ShipBob
Shopify describes ShipBob as a global omnichannel fulfillment solution. ShipBob’s platform materials describe ecommerce integrations for Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Squarespace, Amazon, and Walmart, along with warehouse-management and order-fulfillment processes. This makes it a logical candidate for a brand selling through several ecommerce channels.

“Global” and “omnichannel” still need account-level definition. Ask which countries and facilities can actually receive your inventory, which channels are supported in your contract, how wholesale or retail orders are routed, and whether kitting, custom packaging, freight, or temperature-controlled storage is available. Obtain the implementation plan and complete rate card before comparing it with a Stord proposal.
Amazon Multi-Channel Fulfillment
Amazon Multi-Channel Fulfillment appears on Shopify’s current logistics-partner list. The listing alone does not establish that it provides Stord’s full combination of warehousing, retail distribution, freight, cross docking, or special-temperature services. Treat it as a candidate for investigation when its fulfillment model fits your channels, then verify product eligibility, geography, returns, inventory routing, and contract obligations directly.
Buy with Prime
Buy with Prime is also listed by Shopify. The available evidence does not establish its operating scope for your business, so do not assume that listing status means a replacement for a managed, omnichannel supply-chain program. Confirm who owns and controls inventory, which orders can be fulfilled, where returns go, what integrations are required, and whether B2B or retail workflows are supported.
Bigblue
Bigblue is named in Shopify’s logistics-partner documentation. No comparable operating details were established in the available material. Request its warehouse locations, supported channels, product and packaging capabilities, onboarding requirements, service-level commitments, and every recurring and one-time fee.

DHL Fulfillment
DHL Fulfillment is listed as a Shopify logistics partner. The relevant DHL entity, country coverage, and exact service package can affect the answer materially. Ask for a proposal that identifies the contracting entity, facilities, ecommerce and retail services, integration path, minimum volumes, surcharges, and responsibilities for transportation and returns.
GoBolt
GoBolt appears on Shopify’s partner list, but the list does not describe its network, handling rules, or commercial model. Verify whether it can store and fulfill your products at the required scale, support your destinations and delivery promises, absorb peak volume, and manage exceptions with the level of account support you need.
Mayple
Mayple is included in Shopify’s logistics-partner list. Because the available documentation does not explain its facilities or operating responsibilities, ask it to state plainly which activities it performs itself and which are subcontracted. Confirm storage, receiving, fulfillment, returns, systems integration, insurance, and escalation ownership before treating the proposal as comparable.

Shipfusion
Shipfusion is listed by Shopify as an available logistics integration. The listing does not provide a like-for-like description of Stord’s services. Verify locations, channel and order-type support, kitting, custom packaging, retail compliance, special handling, implementation, minimums, and exit procedures.

Compare alternatives against your actual workload
Start with a service inventory, not a provider preference. Document what Stord currently does, what your internal team does, and what you still handle manually. Then score each candidate only on evidence supplied for your account.
1. Define the service scope
- List DTC/B2C orders, B2B orders, wholesale replenishment, retail-compliance work, and marketplace orders separately.
- Record receiving, storage, cycle counts, pick-and-pack, kitting, custom packaging, labeling, returns, refurbishment, and disposal requirements.
- Identify freight activities such as LTL, drayage, cross docking, forward stocking, and transportation coordination.
- Flag frozen, refrigerated, chilled, hazmat, oversized, fragile, or otherwise regulated products.
For every line, mark whether the provider performs it, coordinates it, or expects you to arrange it. “Available” is not enough; the proposal should state the process, facility, price basis, and service level.
2. Map channels and data flows
Document each storefront, marketplace, wholesale portal, enterprise-resource-planning system, customer-service system, and returns platform. Shopify says Flexport is directly integrated while other listed providers connect through apps; the technical path and requirements therefore differ by provider. Ask for a diagram showing order ingestion, inventory synchronization, allocation, shipment confirmation, tracking, cancellations, backorders, split shipments, and error handling.
3. Test the network against your destinations
Provide a destination-weighted order file rather than asking for a generic “two-day” promise. Include the percentage of orders by postal region, country, service level, and channel. Ask where inventory would be placed, who decides replenishment transfers, what happens when a node is constrained, and how delivery performance is measured. Stord’s published node and coverage figures are not a like-for-like benchmark unless every candidate uses the same definitions.
4. Match operating requirements
- Average and peak daily orders, order lines, units per order, and SKU count.
- Inbound shipment frequency, pallet and carton profiles, receiving appointments, and seasonal surges.
- Lot, batch, serial, expiry, or compliance-tracking requirements.
- Return rate, inspection rules, restocking decisions, and customer refund timing.
- Packaging dimensions, inserts, branded materials, gift options, and kitting recipes.
- Support model, escalation contacts, operating hours, and executive review cadence.
Build a like-for-like scorecard
Use one worksheet for every bidder. The following questions keep a broad Stord replacement from being compared with a narrow parcel service.
| Category | Questions to answer in writing | Evidence to retain |
|---|---|---|
| Scope | Which B2C, B2B, retail, freight, storage, kitting, packaging, and temperature-controlled services are included? | Statement of work, process maps, facility capabilities. |
| Network | Which nodes can receive your inventory, what destinations do they serve, and how is placement decided? | Named facilities, service map, allocation rules. |
| Systems | How do orders, inventory, tracking, cancellations, returns, and exceptions move between systems? | Integration specification, API or app requirements, test plan. |
| Performance | What are the receiving, order-accuracy, ship-on-time, inventory-accuracy, and response-time commitments? | Contractual SLA definitions, exclusions, remedies, reporting examples. |
| Capacity | What volume, SKU, storage, and peak limits apply, and how are constraints communicated? | Capacity assumptions, reservation terms, peak plan. |
| Support | Who owns implementation, daily operations, escalations, and business reviews? | RACI, contact list, escalation tree. |
| Economics | What are the rates, minimums, surcharges, annual increases, and one-time fees? | Complete rate card and pricing assumptions. |
| Risk and exit | Who bears loss, damage, delay, data errors, recalls, and inventory-transfer costs? | Master agreement, insurance terms, termination and transition clauses. |
Request comparable proposals
Give every provider the same data and deadline. A useful request includes a 12-month order history, SKU master, dimensions and weights, inventory by location, inbound profile, destination mix, channel mix, return history, packaging specifications, peak calendar, and required launch date.

- Describe the current state. State which Stord services you use today and which outcomes must not deteriorate.
- Define the future state. Mark mandatory, preferred, and optional capabilities. Separate services that can be removed from services that are operationally critical.
- Ask for one rate card. Require storage, receiving, pick-and-pack, packaging materials and labor, parcel postage, freight, returns, kitting, implementation, integrations, minimums, peak surcharges, and account-management fees to be itemized.
- Require assumptions beside every number. The quote should identify unit of measure, billing frequency, fuel or carrier adjustments, dimensional-weight rules, and excluded work.
- Request a sample invoice. Have the bidder apply its rates to your historical month and peak month so hidden line items become visible.
- Review the contract before selecting. Verify SLAs, remedies, annual increases, minimum commitments, liability, insurance, data access, audit rights, termination notice, and inventory-transfer assistance.
Shopify notes that “The actual pricing for using a 3PL might vary based on your specific requirements and contract negotiations.” Because no comparable prices, minimums, SLAs, onboarding terms, or exit costs are established in the available provider material, a public rate comparison would be misleading.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Understand total cost, not just the pick fee
Model a full year with normal, peak, and downside scenarios. At minimum, include:
- Inbound receiving by pallet, carton, container, or unit.
- Monthly storage by pallet, bin, cubic foot, or another stated measure.
- Pick-and-pack labor, additional order lines, inserts, gift wrapping, and kitting.
- Boxes, mailers, branded materials, dunnage, labels, and other packaging.
- Parcel postage, carrier surcharges, residential or remote-area fees, and dimensional-weight adjustments.
- Freight, LTL, drayage, transfers, cross docking, and forward-stocking movements.
- Returns transportation, inspection, restocking, disposal, and refund-related work.
- Software, integration, implementation, account management, minimums, and peak fees.
- Inventory relocation, decommissioning, and data-export costs if you leave.
Calculate cost per order and contribution margin by channel, but keep the underlying units visible. A low headline fulfillment fee can be outweighed by storage, packaging, split shipments, minimums, or transfer charges.
Plan integration and migration before signing
Data and inventory preparation
Clean SKU identifiers, dimensions, weights, barcodes, bundles, case packs, locations, lot or expiry fields, and product restrictions. Reconcile physical and system inventory before the first transfer. Decide which system is authoritative for available, reserved, damaged, quarantined, and in-transit stock.
Integration testing
Test normal orders and exceptions: address changes, cancellations, partial shipments, backorders, split shipments, returns, failed payments, inventory adjustments, carrier changes, and duplicate messages. Confirm that tracking reaches customers and that warehouse events reach customer service and finance.
Cutover and fallback
Use a staged launch if the provider supports it: a limited SKU set, region, or channel first, followed by controlled expansion. Set a freeze window for master-data changes, define who approves inventory movements, and keep a fallback procedure for orders that cannot enter the new system. Obtain written confirmation of inventory ownership, insurance during transit, and responsibility for discrepancies.

Unpriced exceptions
Ask what happens when an order needs relabeling, repacking, inspection, address correction, manual research, expedited handling, or a second shipment. These events often sit outside the base rate.
Peak capacity ambiguity
Put forecast submission dates, reserved capacity, labor plans, inventory cutoffs, and surge pricing in the contract. A general statement that the network is flexible is not a capacity commitment for your peak.
Exit friction
Specify notice periods, data-export format, inventory count and transfer process, disposition of packaging materials, final invoices, and assistance with moving stock. Confirm who pays for pallets, transportation, relabeling, and reconciliation during the transition.
Which alternative fits common situations?
You need Shopify connectivity and multichannel fulfillment
Investigate Flexport and ShipBob first because the available documentation explicitly describes Shopify connectivity and multichannel or omnichannel services. Validate every required channel, facility, and workflow in the proposal.
You need a broad supply-chain program
Prioritize bidders willing to quote warehousing, B2B, retail distribution, freight, cross docking, special packaging, and temperature-controlled work in one statement of work. Do not infer this breadth from a Shopify app listing.
You mainly need standard DTC parcel fulfillment
A narrower provider may be operationally and financially appropriate, but compare receiving, storage, returns, delivery geography, peak handling, and support rather than choosing on app availability alone.
You operate outside Shopify
Shopify’s list is still a source of names, not proof of eligibility for another commerce stack. Ask each provider to confirm supported integrations, API requirements, order-volume limits, and implementation fees for your platform.
