To block or unblock a number on Tracfone, text BLOCK or UNBLOCK to 611611 and follow the instructions returned for your phone. For the handset steps, use the instructions for your dialer and operating system: Android phones using Phone by Google and iPhones have different controls. To reduce spam, you can also filter suspected spam or screen unknown callers; the National Do Not Call Registry is a separate telemarketing opt-out, not a call-blocking service.
How do I block or unblock a phone number on Tracfone?
- Text BLOCK or UNBLOCK to 611611.
- Follow the instructions Tracfone sends for your phone model.
Tracfone’s 611611 help page provides instructions through these keywords; it does not show one universal handset sequence. The exact menus depend on your phone, dialer app, and software version.
How to block a specific number on Android
Phone by Google
- Open the Phone app.
- Tap More, then Call history.
- Tap the call from the number you want to block.
- Tap Block / report spam.
This is Google’s documented route for Phone by Google, not a universal sequence for every Tracfone Android device. Some steps require Android 6.0 or later. If your phone uses another dialer or the labels differ, use Tracfone’s 611611 instructions or the handset maker’s guidance. See Google’s Phone app instructions.
Unblock a number in Phone by Google
Open the Phone app, tap More, then Settings and Blocked numbers. Find the number and use the remove or unblock control shown on your phone. Labels and layout can vary by version.

What the Unknown setting blocks
In Blocked numbers, the Unknown switch blocks calls from private or unidentified numbers. Google says it does not block every number missing from your contacts: an ordinary unsaved number can still ring. Use it only if you are comfortable potentially missing calls from private callers.
How to filter suspected spam calls on Android
In Phone by Google, open the Phone app, tap More, then Settings and Caller ID & spam. Turn on caller ID and spam protection. If your device offers it, turn on Filter spam calls to filter calls identified as spam.

Google says filtered calls do not generate missed-call or voicemail notifications, although they remain in call history and you can check voicemail. Controls vary by device; phones with automatic Call Screen may not show the same filter option. Filtering is not the same as blocking a selected number, and an incorrectly classified wanted call may be less noticeable.

Tracfone Call Detector
Tracfone lists Call Detector as an Android-only app that identifies unknown numbers and blocks unwanted calls. The listing does not promise compatibility with every Tracfone Android phone, so check whether it is available for your device before relying on it.
How to block and screen calls on iPhone
Block a specific contact
Apple’s iPhone guide describes blocking a contact through the Phone app’s Contacts list: open the contact and tap Block Contact. For a number that is not saved, use the relevant call or contact details screen and follow the block option shown by your iOS version.

Screen or silence callers who are not saved
Depending on your iOS version and Phone app layout, call screening can ask an unknown caller why they are calling before the phone rings, or silence unsaved callers and send them to voicemail. These options can reduce interruptions, but may delay or silence legitimate calls from people or businesses you have not saved.
Use the Unknown Callers and Spam filters
Apple provides separate filters for Unknown Callers and Spam. The Unknown Callers filter can remove calls from Recents and place them in a separate list. The Spam filter can silence calls identified as potential spam or fraud by a carrier, send them to voicemail, and move them to Spam. The available labels and controls depend on iOS version and Phone app layout. Follow Apple’s current iPhone guide to screening and blocking calls for the controls on your device.

Will the Do Not Call Registry block unwanted calls?
No. The Federal Trade Commission’s National Do Not Call Registry FAQ explains that the Registry tells registered telemarketers which numbers not to call; it does not technically block calls. It is distinct from blocking a number or filtering calls in your phone settings, and it will not stop every illegal or exempt caller.
Tracfone’s DNC keyword sends instructions for stopping unwanted calls. That is separate from the federal Registry and from handset-level blocking. The FTC’s guide to blocking and labeling unwanted calls also distinguishes services that warn a call may be spam from tools that actually stop or silence it.
What to do if unwanted calls continue
If a call persists, block the number on the handset and use available spam filtering or screening controls. A caller-labeling feature may warn that a call is suspected spam without preventing the phone from ringing. If you report unwanted calls to the FCC, treat the complaint as information that may support policy work or enforcement, not as a request that will resolve your individual case.
