You can narrow who is allowed to send you a Facebook friend request, or block a particular profile. Facebook’s documented friend-request setting offers Everyone and Friends of friends—not a “Nobody” option. To stop requests from one specific profile, use Facebook’s blocking controls instead.
Limit who can send you friend requests
Choose Friends of friends to narrow the audience that can send requests. Facebook lists two choices for this setting: Everyone and Friends of friends; its instructions do not document a setting that turns off all friend requests. See Facebook’s instructions for changing who can add you as a friend.
- Open Facebook and select your profile picture or menu in the top right.
- Select Settings & privacy, then Settings.
- Under Audience and visibility, open How people find and contact you.
- Select Who can send you friend requests?
- Choose Friends of friends.
This setting narrows the eligible audience; it is not a block on a named person. Someone who remains within the selected audience may still be able to send a request.

Block a specific Facebook profile
To stop interactions from one particular profile, add it to your blocked list. Facebook’s documented settings route is Settings & privacy > Settings > Audience and visibility > Blocking. In Block users, enter the profile name, select Block, and confirm. Facebook also explains how to review blocked profiles and unblock someone.

Facebook also has a separate help page about blocking a profile or Page. Blocking is broader than limiting friend-request eligibility: it prevents many interactions, though it does not make every trace of that person disappear from Facebook.
What blocking does—and where it has limits
Facebook says a blocked profile cannot add you to a group or invite you to an event. You may still encounter content connected to that profile through mutual friends, photos or tags shared by other people, shared group contexts, or some external games and apps. A block also does not automatically cover additional profiles the person may create. Details are in Facebook’s guidance on content you can see from a blocked profile.

- Matte and Glossy Sides: It's a reversible privacy screen filter, giving you the flexibility to choose glossy or matte finish. The matte side will have less glare, however the glossy side will have stronger privacy
- Perfect for Open Workspaces: Ensure your working space is bright and well lit. Privacy screens do not work in dimly lit areas
- Two Installation Option: Option 1 uses clear double side adhesive strips that securely attach to any computer screen. Option 2 (for computer screens with a raised bezel only) uses slide mount tabs that easily stick to the display frame, allowing you to take out the privacy screen filter easily as needed
If your concern is messages specifically, treat that separately: Facebook has message-blocking controls, and profile blocking should not be assumed to cover every messaging situation.

Facebook notes that some privacy settings can vary by profile type. The Help Center instructions do not establish identical menus for every account or app build. If a label has moved, look for the equivalent Audience and visibility, How people find and contact you, or Blocking control. Facebook’s overview of viewing and adjusting privacy settings provides additional context.
