To stop Ctrl+Alt+arrow from rotating your screen on a supported Intel system, open Intel Graphics Command Center and check System > Hotkeys. Disable or change the rotation shortcut if that control is available. Older Intel installations may instead use Intel Graphics Control Panel at Options and Support > Hot Key Manager. The exact controls depend on your graphics driver, software version, and computer manufacturer.
Disable or change the shortcut in Intel Graphics Command Center
- Open the Windows Start menu, search for Intel Graphics Command Center, and launch it.
- Select System, then open Hotkeys.
- Find the rotation shortcut. If your version offers the control, disable the hotkey feature or assign a different combination, then save or apply the change if prompted.
Intel documents this path for customizing hotkeys, but menus and available controls vary by installation. Intel says the Command Center is available on supported 6th-generation Intel Core platforms or newer when the correct drivers are installed; OEMs may disable certain functions. See Intel’s How to Change Hot Keys for Intel® Graphics (reviewed September 4, 2024).
Try the legacy Intel panel if the setting is missing
If Intel Graphics Command Center is unavailable or changing its settings does not stop the rotation shortcut, search the Start menu for Intel Graphics Control Panel. On installations that include the older panel:

- Select Hot Key Manager.
- Choose the hotkey you want to change, adjust it, and save the profile.
This older route applies only to supported Intel graphics controllers with the appropriate driver; the panel may not be installed or exposed by an OEM driver package. Intel’s instructions are in How to Change Hot Keys for Intel® Graphics.

A September 1, 2025 Microsoft Q&A post describes one user with 5th-generation Intel graphics who resolved the issue in the legacy Hot Key Manager after remapping in Command Center did not work. That is an individual troubleshooting report, not a guaranteed fix for other systems: Disable screen rotation keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl+Alt+Arrow).
Which Intel settings path applies?

Why the shortcut may still work—or the menu may be different
The rotation control is not shown
Intel has changed some Graphics Command Center interfaces: rotation settings and rotation hotkeys were removed from some pages. The available controls therefore may not match older instructions. Intel points users seeking to change screen orientation toward Windows display-orientation settings or Intel Graphics Command Center Beta; those are alternatives for changing orientation, not proof that the rotation hotkey can be disabled in every version. See Intel’s notice about resolution and rotation settings.

Another application is affected by Ctrl+Alt shortcuts
If you want to reclaim a Ctrl+Alt combination for another app, check whether Intel Graphics Command Center has an update. Intel says a conflict affecting some applications was resolved in version 1.100.2970.0 and newer. This addresses that specific conflict; it does not establish that updating disables screen rotation on every computer. Details: Intel Graphics Command Center disables keyboard shortcuts for other applications.
You use more than one monitor
Intel says its Command Center rotation hotkeys work only on the display designated as the main display. If you are using those hotkeys to rotate a particular monitor, make that display the main one in Windows display settings. This limitation concerns which display the rotation hotkey acts on; it does not by itself disable the shortcut. See Why Don’t Screen Rotation Hotkeys Work on All Monitors?.

Your computer does not use the relevant Intel software
Ctrl+Alt+arrow is associated with graphics hotkey software on supported systems, rather than being listed as a standard Windows shortcut in Microsoft’s Windows keyboard shortcuts reference. If neither Intel panel is installed, the Intel-specific menus above may not apply; the available control depends on the graphics software and driver installed on your computer. The exact Intel menu instructions documented by Intel cover Windows 7, 8, 8.1, and 10 families and should not be assumed to match every Windows 11 build or non-Intel system.

What to check if the display keeps rotating
- Confirm which Intel graphics utility is installed; the newer Command Center and legacy Control Panel use different menus.
- Check the relevant Hotkeys or Hot Key Manager screen and verify that the change was saved or applied.
- If the Command Center lacks the control or does not affect the shortcut, look for the legacy Control Panel, especially on an older Intel system.
- For multi-monitor rotation hotkeys, confirm that the target monitor is set as the main display.
- If an application’s own Ctrl+Alt shortcut is being intercepted, check for the Command Center update related to the specific conflict Intel documents.
