It depends on what was stolen—or may have been stolen. If you suspect a product listed for sale on Amazon.com is stolen merchandise, report the listing to Amazon and contact local law enforcement. If your own order is missing or marked delivered but never arrived, use Your Orders and Amazon’s missing-package steps instead. These are separate situations with different reporting routes.
First, identify which situation applies

How to report a suspected stolen product listing
Amazon says that “The sale of stolen property is illegal and strictly prohibited on Amazon.” If you suspect a product for sale on Amazon.com is stolen, Amazon directs you to contact Customer Service and immediately report it to your local law enforcement agency. You can use either of these Amazon routes:
- On the product page, select “Report an issue with this product or seller.” Choose the option for illegal, unsafe, or suspicious content, or the seller-issue option, and follow the prompts.
- In Amazon Customer Service, go to “Help with something else” and select “Report Something Suspicious.” Choose the suspicious product or seller option, then contact an agent by chat or phone.
Give Amazon and the local authority the listing details and the facts that led to your concern. Amazon’s help page does not specify a universal evidence checklist or guarantee a particular outcome. California residents are also directed to a California Attorney General retail-theft reporting link; that state-specific route does not replace Amazon’s reporting option or Amazon’s direction to contact local law enforcement.

If tracking says “delivered” but you cannot find the package, Amazon recommends checking the following before treating it as theft:

- In Your Orders, confirm the shipping address.
- Check the Message Center, delivery confirmation, mailbox or usual mail location, and any delivery photo.
- Look at the delivery instructions and nearby places where the carrier may have left the package.
- Ask household members and neighbors whether they accepted it.
- Wait 48 hours. Amazon notes that a package can be scanned as delivered before it arrives.
- Check with the carrier, which may have more information about where it was left.
- If it is still missing, contact the third-party seller if that seller shipped and sold the item. For an Amazon-shipped order, contact Amazon Customer Service within 30 days of the expected delivery date.
Keep the order and tracking details available and note which checks you completed. Amazon’s missing-package instructions do not state that a police report is required for every missing order. Report a theft to police if the facts support that conclusion; do not describe a package as stolen when you only know it is missing or may have been misdelivered.
When a third-party order may qualify for an A-to-z claim
Amazon’s US A-to-z Guarantee covers qualifying purchases sold and fulfilled by a third-party seller. For a package that was not received, Amazon says you may be eligible to claim if the listed timing and contact conditions are met. Amazon reviews eligibility; a refund is not automatic.

- The last possible delivery date must be within 90 days.
- Either three days must have passed since the latest estimated delivery date, or tracking must show delivery—whichever happens sooner.
- You must have contacted the seller more than 48 hours earlier, without resolving the issue.
The guarantee does not apply to every order. Amazon’s page says it applies only to items sold and fulfilled by third-party sellers. For Amazon Global Store orders or Marketplace orders delivered using Prime, contact Amazon. For purchases made with Amazon Pay on a third-party site, use Amazon Pay help. The stated terms also make a customer ineligible for an A-to-z refund if they have already requested a refund or chargeback from their payment provider.

First, check whether the package was a gift and ask friends or family whether they sent it. If it is addressed to you but was not ordered by you or anyone you know, report it through Amazon’s unwanted-package form. Amazon asks for the number of packages, a tracking number from at least one label, and any other useful information. If the package is addressed to someone else, contact Customer Service rather than reporting it as your missing order. Amazon identifies “brushing”—unsolicited packages sent to publicly available names and addresses—as one possible explanation.

Package theft prevention and evidence
Amazon’s package-theft guidance recommends reporting thefts and sharing evidence with local police. It also describes optional ways to reduce delivery risk or document a drop-off: tracking, a hidden delivery location, Photo-on-Delivery, alternate pickup locations, shared tracking, a home security device, and garage delivery where available. These are optional prevention or documentation measures, not prerequisites for making a report.
