Major U.S. banks are scheduled to report third-quarter results on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, marking what Yahoo Finance called the “unofficial start” of earnings season. Before the opening bell, Yahoo Finance reported mixed futures: Dow futures were up 0.5%, Nasdaq-100 futures were down 0.6%, and S&P 500 futures were below the flatline. Those are premarket snapshots from that report, not live quotes or the day’s final market results.
What is the stock market doing today?
The market’s pre-open picture was mixed in Yahoo Finance’s October 13 report: Dow futures pointed higher while Nasdaq-100 futures pointed lower, and S&P 500 futures were below unchanged. Futures can move before and after the opening bell, so these figures describe only the snapshot in that report; they do not establish how the indexes traded during the session.
Which banks report today, and when?
Investor-relations pages list earnings events for four major U.S. banks on October 13. Release and conference-call times are not interchangeable: the issuer schedules identify when results are issued separately from when executives discuss them.

| Bank | October 13 schedule |
|---|---|
| JPMorganChase | Conference call at 8:30 a.m. ET; the cited schedule gives the call time. |
| Goldman Sachs | Third-quarter earnings call on October 13; the cited schedule does not state a time. |
| Wells Fargo | Q3 earnings at 10 a.m. ET. |
| Citi | Results expected at approximately 8 a.m. ET; webcast review at 11 a.m. ET. |
These are scheduled events, not confirmation that results have already been released. The issuer pages are the appropriate place to check for updates to timing.

What to look for in the bank reports
Compare earnings and revenue with expectations
Read each company’s reported earnings and revenue against the expectations used by the market, while checking that the comparison comes from a clearly identified estimate source. There is no single consistent consensus set established here, so an unlabeled forecast should not be treated as a definitive benchmark.
Look beyond the headline profit
Trading and investment-banking activity can meaningfully shape results at some firms. For banks with larger consumer and commercial lending businesses, lending volumes, deposits, and credit quality may be more informative. A trading-led result should not be compared mechanically with one driven by consumer lending: business mix changes what a quarter’s revenue and profit figures mean.

Read management’s outlook alongside the results
Comments about business activity, credit conditions, lending, and the operating environment can help explain whether reported performance reflects factors management expects to persist. Treat outlook statements as management’s view, not a guarantee of future results.
How the prior quarter provides context
JPMorganChase reported second-quarter 2026 net income of $21.2 billion, or $7.70 per share, including significant items. That historical figure is not a Q3 estimate or result. In the same release, CEO Jamie Dimon described net income of $16.9 billion and a 23% return on tangible common equity (ROTCE) excluding gains related to Visa and certain equity investments. Dimon attributed those results to a particularly favorable environment with elevated market activity, as well as execution, investment, and capital deployment. The $16.9 billion and 23% figures use that stated exclusion and should not be confused with the reported headline net income.

Large-bank results arrive early in the reporting calendar and can offer a first look at conditions in trading, investment banking, lending, deposits, and credit. They are an early signal, not a complete picture of the broader economy or of all companies reporting this quarter. Differences in each bank’s business mix also limit what can be inferred from a single company’s results.
