Choose the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless variant for the console you actually use. The Xbox edition is the only version with a dedicated Xbox USB port. The non-Xbox edition is the practical choice for PlayStation, PC, Switch or handheld use, while both variants provide two direct USB system connections and can combine 2.4 GHz game audio with Bluetooth phone audio.

The other major buying decision is the Infinity Power System: one battery powers the headset while the second charges, so you can swap packs in seconds instead of waiting for a recharge. Windows 10 or newer is required for ChatMix features through SteelSeries GG/Sonar. Price and stock change by region, so verify the exact SKU and current retailer listing before ordering.

Which Arctis Nova Pro Wireless version should you buy?

There are two platform configurations: an Xbox model and a non-Xbox model commonly sold for PC and PlayStation. Their most important difference is not sound tuning; it is the transmitter’s console connectivity.

Use case Recommended variant Why
Xbox Series or Xbox One as a primary console Xbox variant Only this version has the dedicated Xbox port supported for native Xbox connection.
PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 or PC Non-Xbox variant Its USB system connection is intended for PC and PlayStation systems.
Switch or another supported handheld Non-Xbox variant The flexible USB connection supports Switch/handheld use.
Mac plus mobile Bluetooth Non-Xbox variant Mac USB and mobile Bluetooth are listed compatibility modes.
Several platforms, including Xbox Xbox variant if Xbox must use its native port The Xbox model still has a second flexible USB connection for other supported systems.

SteelSeries states that every model has two direct USB system connections, but only the Xbox model has a dedicated Xbox port. That single detail should decide the purchase for Xbox owners. Buying the non-Xbox edition because it is cheaper or more readily available can leave you without the connection method you expected.

What the headset includes and how the system is organized

The Nova Pro Wireless is a premium wireless gaming headset introduced in 2022. Its package is built around three parts: the headset, a wireless transmitter/base station and removable batteries. The transmitter handles the 2.4 GHz game connection, system switching and charging for the spare battery. Bluetooth provides a separate connection for a phone or another compatible device.

SteelSeries documents dual wireless connectivity, active noise cancellation (ANC), PC Sonar software and the Infinity Power System as core features. Independent testing coverage describes the model as a premium wireless design with a transmitter, ANC, Bluetooth and platform-specific PC/PlayStation and Xbox variants. A testing-page figure of 920 headphones bought and tested refers to the size of that review site’s testing corpus, not a score or measured result for this headset.

Compatibility by platform

Xbox

Use the Xbox edition when you want the headset connected through the transmitter’s dedicated Xbox port. SteelSeries Support explicitly identifies this as the only Nova Pro Wireless model with that port. The Xbox variant also has a second USB system connection that can be used with supported PC, PlayStation, Switch or Mac setups, making it the safer choice for a household that includes Xbox and another platform.

PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4

The official compatibility listing includes PS5 Pro, PS5, PS4 Pro and PS4. Connect the transmitter to the console’s supported USB port, then select the headset for game and chat output in the console’s audio settings. The non-Xbox edition is the straightforward choice when PlayStation is your primary console. If you buy the Xbox edition for multi-platform reasons, use its flexible, non-dedicated USB connection for PlayStation.

PC

Both configurations can be used with a PC through a direct USB system connection. Windows 10 or newer is required for ChatMix through SteelSeries GG/Sonar. Basic audio connection and the headset’s wireless functions are separate from the optional software controls, but you need the current Windows requirement to use the documented ChatMix/Sonar path.

Nintendo Switch and other handheld use

SteelSeries lists handheld/Switch compatibility. The practical connection depends on the Switch setup and available USB adapter or dock ports. Confirm that your particular handheld exposes a compatible USB connection before buying; the listing establishes support for the platform family, not every third-party adapter or portable configuration.

Mac

Mac USB support is included in the official product listing. Connect the transmitter by USB and select it as the sound input/output device in macOS. The Windows 10 requirement for ChatMix/Sonar does not make a Mac incompatible; it means the documented Windows software feature set is not the same on Mac.

Mobile devices

Mobile use is provided through Bluetooth. This is useful for calls, music and notifications without moving the 2.4 GHz transmitter between systems. Bluetooth support does not turn the headset into a universal wired USB-C headset; check your phone’s Bluetooth compatibility and audio permissions.

How the two USB system connections affect a multi-device setup

The transmitter’s two direct USB system connections are designed for people who regularly move between systems or keep two systems connected. One port can serve a PC while the other serves a console, allowing system selection from the transmitter instead of repeatedly unplugging a cable.

The ports are not interchangeable on the Xbox model: one is the dedicated Xbox connection and the other is the flexible connection for PC, PlayStation 4/5, Switch or Mac. On the non-Xbox configuration, the two direct connections are intended for the supported non-Xbox systems. If you only own one system, a second port is convenience rather than a reason by itself to pay more.

Can you hear Bluetooth and game audio at the same time?

Yes. Dual wireless connectivity is one of the headset’s defining features: 2.4 GHz wireless carries game audio while Bluetooth carries audio from a paired phone or other mobile device. This lets you take a call, hear a navigation prompt or play phone audio without disconnecting from the game.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The useful question is whether you will actually use simultaneous audio. It is valuable for players who monitor a phone, join a mobile call while gaming or need both a console and a personal device available. If you never pair a phone, the feature adds little day-to-day value compared with a simpler wireless headset.

  • MULTI-SYSTEM CONNECT — Connect two systems at once and toggle between PlayStation, PC, Switch, or Mac
  • ACTIVE NOISE CANCELLATION — Automatically detects and deletes any distracting noises around you so you can fully focus on your game; use Transparency Mode when you want to hear your surroundings
  • NEODYMIUM MAGNETIC DRIVERS — Hear everything you want with an ultra-detailed soundscape of crystal clear highs, pinpoint mids, and deep bass. Fully compatible with Tempest 3D Audio for PS5 / Microsoft Spatial Sound
  • 2 BATTERIES FOR NO DOWNTIME — 2 hot-swappable batteries mean you won't ever have to stop gaming; the spare is always charging in the base station for unlimited play
  • SIMULTANEOUS BLUETOOTH — Connect your mobile device to mix in calls or music with your game audio

Remember that simultaneous connections do not eliminate platform setup. The 2.4 GHz side still needs the correct USB transmitter connection, and the Bluetooth side still needs to be paired with the phone. Audio balance and chat behavior can vary by system, so test both sources before relying on the arrangement for a live call or stream.

How the Infinity Power System works

The Infinity Power System uses two removable batteries. While one battery is powering the headset, the other charges in the transmitter. When the active pack is depleted, exchange it for the charged pack; SteelSeries describes the changeover as taking only a few seconds. The result is effectively continuous play as long as you keep alternating the packs.

Battery-swap procedure

  1. Leave the spare battery in the transmitter’s charging position while you play. This keeps a charged pack ready.
  2. When the headset indicates that the active battery needs changing, pause your game or mute your microphone if necessary.
  3. Open the headset battery compartment using the release shown in the product guide, remove the depleted pack and insert the charged one in the indicated orientation.
  4. Close the compartment and resume the wireless connection. Put the depleted pack into the transmitter so it can charge for the next swap.

The exact battery-door movement and indicator behavior are shown in the official guide; do not force the compartment or substitute a pack with a different connector or rating.

Does the box contain two batteries?

The official guide lists a “Second Battery” in the package contents, confirming the intended dual-pack setup. Package contents can vary by regional SKU or bundle, so inspect the exact listing and box contents before purchase. If a retailer’s description lists only one battery, resolve that discrepancy before ordering rather than assuming the standard package applies.

Why the battery system can justify the price

A conventional wireless headset must be connected to a charger when its internal battery is low. With the Nova Pro Wireless, the interruption is a quick physical swap, and the spare charges while you play. That convenience matters most to long-session players, households sharing a headset and anyone who cannot pause for a recharge. It matters less if you play short sessions or already keep a cable beside your chair.

Active noise cancellation and software features

Active noise cancellation

ANC is included in the documented feature set. It can reduce steady environmental noise such as a fan or air conditioner, making game audio easier to hear at a lower volume. ANC is not a guarantee that voices, sudden sounds or keyboard clicks disappear, and its usefulness depends on your room and fit.

SteelSeries GG and Sonar

On Windows 10 or newer, SteelSeries GG/Sonar provides the software route for ChatMix and PC audio customization. Install GG, connect the transmitter by USB and open the Sonar area to select the headset and adjust the available game, chat and microphone controls. Keep the headset and transmitter connected while changing settings so the software can identify the active device.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

ChatMix is a PC feature with a Windows 10-or-newer requirement. If you use macOS, a console or a Switch, configure game and chat levels through that platform’s own audio controls instead of assuming the Windows Sonar workflow is available.

Buying decision framework

Use these questions in order; they prevent paying for a feature that does not solve your problem.

  1. Do you own an Xbox? If native Xbox-port support is important, choose the Xbox variant. This is the non-negotiable compatibility decision.
  2. Do you need two systems connected at once? If yes, the two direct USB connections can reduce cable swapping. If no, the second port is optional convenience.
  3. Will you use phone audio during gaming? If you take calls or monitor mobile audio, dual 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth connectivity is a strong reason to choose this model.
  4. Will ANC help in your room? Consider it a quality-of-life feature for steady background noise, not a replacement for a quiet room.
  5. Is hot-swappable battery continuity important? The dual-pack system is the central value proposition for marathon sessions. If you are comfortable charging between sessions, a less expensive fixed-battery headset may be sufficient.
  6. Do you need PC ChatMix? Confirm that your computer runs Windows 10 or newer before counting GG/Sonar controls as part of the purchase.

Setup checklist for a new owner

  1. Verify the SKU before opening the box. The model name should match your primary console, and the package should identify a second battery.
  2. Place the spare battery in the transmitter. This establishes the charging rotation before your first long session.
  3. Connect the correct USB port. Xbox owners should use the dedicated Xbox port; PC, PlayStation, Switch or Mac users should use the flexible port identified for that system.
  4. Complete platform audio selection. Set the Nova Pro Wireless as the output and microphone device where your platform requires manual selection.
  5. Pair Bluetooth separately. Put the headset into Bluetooth pairing mode and select it from the phone’s Bluetooth settings.
  6. On Windows, install or open SteelSeries GG. Use Sonar for the documented PC ChatMix and audio controls, and confirm that Windows recognizes the transmitter.
  7. Test both wireless paths. Play game audio, then introduce a phone call or Bluetooth track to verify that the mix behaves as expected before a tournament or stream.

Troubleshooting common problems

The Xbox does not recognize the headset

  • Confirm that you bought the Xbox configuration; the non-Xbox model does not have the dedicated Xbox port.
  • Move the USB cable to the transmitter port intended for Xbox rather than the flexible system port.
  • Power-cycle the console and transmitter, then check the Xbox audio device selection.

PC ChatMix or Sonar controls are missing

  • Verify that the PC runs Windows 10 or newer.
  • Connect the transmitter by USB and open SteelSeries GG/Sonar rather than relying only on the operating system’s generic Bluetooth panel.
  • Check that the Nova Pro Wireless is selected as the active game, chat and microphone device in Sonar and in the game itself.

The spare battery is not ready

  • Make sure the depleted pack is seated in the transmitter’s charging position after a swap.
  • Check that the battery compartment is fully closed and the pack is oriented as shown in the guide.
  • If the listing or box contained only one battery, contact the retailer before assuming a fault; regional bundles can differ.

Bluetooth works but game audio does not

  • Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz are separate connections. Confirm the transmitter’s USB connection and platform audio output independently.
  • For a console, verify that the transmitter is connected to the correct platform port and that the console is sending game audio to USB.
  • For a PC, confirm the transmitter appears in Windows and in GG/Sonar; pairing the phone alone cannot provide game audio.

Price, availability and model status

A stable current price or inventory level is not established for this model, and both vary by country, retailer and bundle. Treat any displayed price as a time- and region-specific offer, and check whether the listing is for the Xbox or non-Xbox SKU before comparing totals.

RTINGS notes that the Nova Pro Wireless has been replaced in the manufacturer’s lineup by the Arctis Nova Pro Omni. That newer model is a separate product. This guide concerns the Nova Pro Wireless, so do not assume an Omni listing has identical ports, accessories or compatibility without checking its own specifications.

Who should buy the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless?

A strong fit

  • Xbox owners who specifically need the dedicated Xbox transmitter port.
  • Players who use two systems and benefit from dual direct USB connections.
  • People who regularly combine game audio with Bluetooth phone audio.
  • Long-session players who value a charged battery swap over waiting for an internal battery to recharge.
  • Windows PC users who will use GG/Sonar and ChatMix on Windows 10 or newer.

Reasons to choose something else

  • You need only one platform and do not value the transmitter’s extra connection.
  • You rarely play long enough for a hot-swappable battery to matter.
  • You do not need Bluetooth mixing, ANC or PC software customization.
  • You are buying solely on the lowest current price; this is a feature-rich premium design rather than a budget wireless headset.
  • You expect every feature to work identically on Mac, console and Windows; ChatMix through GG/Sonar specifically requires Windows 10 or newer.

What to verify before checkout

  • The exact platform variant, especially whether it is the Xbox model.
  • The number and type of USB system connections described for that SKU.
  • Compatibility with your edition of PS5, PS4, Xbox, Switch, PC or Mac.
  • Windows 10-or-newer availability if PC ChatMix/Sonar is important.
  • Package contents, including the listed second battery.
  • Current regional price, stock, warranty and return terms, since these are not stable product attributes.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
