Steam’s official statistics page showed a peak of 43,501,449 concurrent users in its most recent 48-hour window when the page was updated on October 11, 2026. SteamDB’s chart put the all-time peak at 43,505,724. The figures are close but differ, so each should be attributed to its publisher.
What Steam’s October record shows
Valve’s Steam statistics page labels the measure “Concurrent Steam Users” and displays current and peak counts for the most recent 48 hours. Its October 11, 2026 update showed a peak of 43,501,449 users online at the same time.

SteamDB’s concurrent-user chart reported an all-time peak of 43,505,724. SteamDB tracks publicly available Steam information, but its chart is not Valve’s own historical archive; the two displayed values should not be collapsed into one supposedly exact figure. SteamDB describes its data coverage in its FAQ.
October is at least the third record-setting peak of 2026
The “second time this year” wording does not match the documented chronology. SteamDB figures cited in earlier reports show peaks of 42,042,778 in January and 42,318,602 on March 22. October’s reported peak follows both, making it at least the third new peak of 2026 in this record sequence.

Concurrent users are not the same as players in one game
The record counts people connected to the Steam platform at once. It does not mean that this many people were playing one game, nor is it a daily or monthly active-user total. SteamDB separately charts concurrent users and users in-game, which are different measures.
The counts establish the size of the platform peak, not why it happened. They do not by themselves show that a particular game release, sale, or other event caused the increase.
