You do not need five Anker products to get started with a Steam Deck. The most useful additions depend on whether you need more play time away from an outlet, ports for a display or peripherals, or room for more games. A USB-C PD power bank and Anker’s handheld-console hub are the clearest Anker picks in the available product information; a UHS-I microSD card and a dock are optional solutions for different setups.
What a Steam Deck starter kit should cover
Think in terms of jobs, not a fixed bundle: portable power for travel, a hub or dock for a desk or TV, and storage expansion if your installed library needs it. Steam lists USB-C/DisplayPort connectivity and UHS-I microSD expansion for the Steam Deck OLED. Its Docking Station is designed to connect the Deck to external displays, wired networking, USB peripherals, and power. 1. USB-C PD power bank for play away from an outlet
A USB-C PD power bank is the most direct portable-power addition. Steam lists a 45W PD3.0 Type-C power supply for the Steam Deck OLED, a useful compatibility benchmark when choosing a power bank. Anker’s Steam Deck power-bank page lists the Anker 737 Power Bank (PowerCore 24K) and says the Deck can be charged through USB-C PD. The OLED’s battery is rated at 50Wh, and Steam gives a gameplay estimate of 3–12 hours depending on the game and settings. That is not a guaranteed runtime, and it does not establish how many full charges a particular bank will provide. 2. Anker A83S1 hub for a display and peripherals
The Anker A83S1 is explicitly marketed for handheld game consoles, making it the strongest hub candidate here for a Deck-oriented starter kit. Its guide lists SteamOS support, HDMI 2.0 up to 4K@60Hz, gigabit Ethernet, USB data ports, and up to 100W PD input. Those are hub specifications, not a promise that every Deck, display, cable, or adapter chain will produce 4K at 60Hz. Actual output depends on the host and configuration. The A83S1 also has a fit limitation: Anker says it is not compatible with cases featuring a kickstand, and the case thickness should not exceed 2 mm for proper fit. Skip this hub if you do not need its extra ports or display connection, or if your case conflicts with those requirements.

3. UHS-I microSD card for optional game storage
If your internal storage is tight, a UHS-I microSD card is a straightforward library-expansion option; Steam lists UHS-I microSD support for the OLED Deck. Choose capacity based on the games you keep installed and your budget. The available product information does not establish one best card brand or capacity, so avoid treating any single size as a universal recommendation. 4. Choose a dock instead of a hub for a permanent setup
For a desk or TV setup that stays assembled, Steam’s Docking Station is the alternative to a compact hub. Steam describes it as connecting the Deck to external displays, wired networking, USB peripherals, and power. A hub is the more portable category; a dock suits a setup intended to remain in one place. This is a choice based on how and where you play, not a claim that one performs better. 5. Treat the Anker 555 as an option to verify, not a confirmed Deck pick
Anker’s 555 USB-C Hub page lists HDMI up to 4K@60Hz, Ethernet up to 1Gbps, USB ports, SD and microSD slots, and PD input up to 100W with up to 85W PD output for a laptop. Those laptop specifications do not, by themselves, establish Steam Deck compatibility. Consider it only after confirming that the exact model and connection setup work with your Deck; otherwise, the A83S1 has more direct handheld-console positioning. How to choose without overbuying
- Need more time away from an outlet? Compare USB-C PD output, capacity, and carried weight in a power bank.
- Need HDMI, Ethernet, or USB ports on the go? Consider the A83S1, and check its power-adapter recommendation and case fit before buying.
- Need a fixed TV or desk arrangement? Consider Steam’s Docking Station rather than buying both a dock and a hub for the same setup.
- Need more room for games? Add a UHS-I microSD card sized for your own library.
- Connecting a display? Check the Deck, display, cable, resolution, refresh rate, and any adapters together; a hub’s maximum rating alone does not guarantee the result.
